I don’t really care about the human characters or the story line, what I want is to keep Toothless adorable and not changing it into a scary monster
Yeah, unfortunately, because of the pettiness of some people their changing Astrids' race, I believe. She'll be mixed instead of white as in the movies.
@@plutoshine_edits NOOOOOOOO
Omg yes. Like I swear I am an overly obsessed httyd fan and will sit through almost any bad movie but IF THEY MAKE TOOTHLESS LOOK CREEPY I’m BAILING
Whattt
YES I WANNA KEEP TOOTHLESS AND HICCUP ALL OTHER CAN BE CHANGED IDC
As long as they keep the dragons accurate, the movie should be epic
Can you imagine a live action remake of The Bee Movie the human characters looking realistic and the bees are cgi
@@joshuasebsebe1047 I mean in the sense of sticking to the original designs. Some animated characters don't get translated well to screen, so as long as the dragons don't look different from the movie - alls good
@@runfortea9161 and what about road to el dorado it should be remade in live action and it might be better than the original
Sounds like cope to me.
@captainmerca341 Imagine Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken getting remade in live action and I want it to be more like a Disney's Descendants kind of remake
i rlly hope they keep the old design of toothless, we dont need a hyperrealistic dragon with giant fangs and no personality. Other than that im very happy with decisions made so far
Well, there goanna have to amp him up some. I think as long as they keep his personality and the basics of what he looks like it'll be fine. Personally, I think for his breed it would make more since for him to be a little more intimidating. Same goes for many of the other dragons.
@@huskygold5319 Toothless being so adorable made the whole "are they actually evil or can it be my friend" easily understandable and everyone loves this cute little guy. Got the same energy like an Axolotl or a salamander, they can and need to keep the general body shape and facial expression otherwise it's gonna be a big flop. Sure, graphically needs to be adjusted otherwise it'd be weird to have a real person right next to it, but won't be hard to make a cute lizard because there is some looking pretty accurate without much needed to be changed. Just don't make him look like a crocodile all of a sudden.
When it comes to "live action remakes" I do have to ask "why?"
If you're just remaking something that already exists, why? there needs to be a reason it's worth doing it again beyond "now with added actors."
I'm someone who likes rewatching shows and movies I enjoy, so this is my explanation as one of those people:
Sometimes I like remakes because it's something that I already enjoy rewatching, but slightly different, so my brain won't get bored
Also the prospect of seeing this fantastical world in a more realistic setting grounds it more, and while I LOVE animation- there is something to say about seeing magical things and dragons and so forth in the REAL world, even if it is only on screen
I mean, it's also a cash grab, probably, but for studios like DreamWorks, it dosn’t seem like like it's a cash grab they NEED. It dosn’t feel desperate, and it feels like a genuine attempt to remake something and join the game of remaking things in live action- because this is a business where you both have to take risks, as well as follow trends to an extent to keep people engaged.
I believe DreamWorks is not at all going into this into for a deprate cash grab, or because they are clinging to their audience, or because they are out of ideas- I think they are going into this because they saw a trend, and saw a possibility to make something amazing- they are taking the risk of doing something that a lot of people are against right now, along with following a trend that, despite not being the vocal group, a lot of people enjoy.
Now, I'm not saying that there is a 100% chance this movie is going to be good. It's a hard balance to meet and a slippery slope as Disney presented. But if it turns out bad, everyone should judge for themselves whether they like it or not. And if the majority dislikes it, they shouldn't call people who genuinely enjoy it, people with low standards. They have different standards and different preferences, but not lower standards.
I mean, that's my perspective on it at least- sorry for the paragraphs -
@@AnimationBlargsI must say, thank you
I don’t exactly know why, but I’m just kinda thankful for you explaining this
I agree with the "why?" feeling. With so many live action remakes out there and soooo few of them being good, it just seems like the filmmakers are stacking the deck against themselves.
If they really want to bring their animated worlds into live-action, then tell a new story with some or all of the characters we already know. Then at the very least you won't have the live-action forced to live up to the expectations from the original.
@@ryanakers1372its just so much fun to see and already be familiar with the plot while also getting something new, plus they always seem to turn out good because the fans give good suggestions.
Vikings in the north, Astrid, blonde light skin light blue eyes... that actress lmao
Agreed. They are Nordic Vikings. Astrid should be white, but that's Hollywood for ya. They have to get their quota in. I don't like who they chose for Fishlegs and Ruffnut either.
@@crystallynch1781 I'm blonde and blue-eyed and i feel discrimated against XD
Wow nice your my type lol@@meltro1906
Could have been a slave raid baby 🤷🏽♀️
@@lizaramirez-garcia5944they raided England and other northern ish European countries…
This better not be fan baiting like every other recent adaptation.
Nothing can beat the original ❤
Yeah you are right
Soild pass l love the original but I'm afraid that they will screw it up
Yeah I’m not so excited for some of the cast
Same
honestly the only saving grace of this movie is the fact that many people that worked on the original returned for the remake. Deblouis, Powell and Butler.
Why can’t people come up with their own ideas instead of turning everything into a live action? The movie isn’t that old either and is fine just the way it is.
It's the same director
It's going to suck when or if they make the 2 and 3 movies like not in a bad way but a sad way cuz lots of httyd fans still can't get over the ending of the 3rd move and stoic's death on the second one
I don’t mind Astrid or any other character being dark skinned, but they’d better have an actual good backstory about how she or her family came to Berk, or else it’s just plain unrealistic. Because in viking Scandinavia, there were definitely no people of colour.
One can hope.. But I highly doubt that. Creating a realistic backstory for why a dark skinned family is in a viking village is too much effort for modern day writers. They'd much rather we just accept it without question else they have another bs reason to call people who know history racist or whatever.
I mind....
I don't think it's ever a good idea to have two movies that could be blockbusters against each other One of them's going to plummet in comparison if it was by itself
I guess Nico Parker is going to have to wear a blonde wig. She may actually pull off looking like Astrid. I hope her acting is good and that her character gets more scenes
She’ll have her African hair out. Because box ticking.
I actually love her look. But I’m so sick and tired of America trying to make it look like Africans were everywhere…. Including freaking ancient Sweden or whatever. It’s a political agenda, one that would be sacrilegious if anyone tried to cast a white guy in an ancient African landscape. Used to be able to see an African cast and not blink an eye, but now it is so in your face, it’s hard to see past the propaganda
honestly i would love a series that is actually based on the books. i wanna see common garden dragon toothless with enough sas to compete with snips
I can’t wait, now Dreamworks is doing it and not just Disney.
I want DreamWorks films to be remade in live action like Road to El dorado the Bee Movie and over the hedge
@@joshuasebsebe1047 some movies just shouldn't be live action... they lose their charm and enjoyment almost everytime
@Volfur2251 Well, they might try to make it better than the original
There’s going to be a park at universal so it makes sense
I want a live action remake of Monsters vs aliens
@@joshuasebsebe1047 frr
they shoud have kept all the origanal actors
I don’t think that would’ve worked, some of the OG voice actors don’t actually look like their characters
They kind of mentioned that here, that wouldn't work because all the "kids" are now way to old to portray the age they are in the first movie.
bruh in the movies and shows ruff literally looks like a 110 pound twig. not a 225 dancer
Exactly 😂😂
Why not just make another animated How To Train Your Dragon movie instead of remaking the same movie again in live action?
I saw the baby dragon thumbnail and went “oh no….”
Can we just leave animation to be animation??? If you want live actors movie - go and come up with our own idea, stop remaking animated movies.
live action is a version of another move in real life so they cant rly make there own unless they completely change the plot of an move
No, live action is a version of another movie they wish they could make, but inevitably end up ruining
im hoping they can keep that same feeling that the original movies have in a flying scene. absolutely no other movie or show has captured that same feeling of being able to fly with no limit
I’m still not gonna be excited for this until we see how Toothless and the other Dragons turn out. If they butcher Meatlug I’m done.
I hope they keep the music ♥️
I’m going to say this,
I’m excited for the movie, I’m looking forward to the movie, but I’m not setting anything in stone until I see at least a trailer to confirm that I’m excited for a reason
they need to do some early sneak peeks of the dragon's designs, those will make or break the movie long before it even gets to the big screen, if they do early design releases and take the feedback they get from the public to heart then it may* be a good adaptation.
I care little for anything else but the dragons and the relationship between hiccup and toothless. if they keep those aspects faithful to the source material the rest shouldn't be too difficult to get right
Httyd is my favorite movie ever so it’s nice seeing that the remake will stay more or less true to the original.
All I hope is that they don’t screwup this movie as they have all other live action adaptations.
I desperately want to see as many practical effects as possible. I know it’s not likely but still.
Ok ok not bad not bad, i think i might actually have hope for a live action once!
Im so excited
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE BEN WAITING FOR THIS MY ENTIRE LIFE! IM A BIG BIG BIG BIG FAN OF THIS MOVIE
I would have preffered they come up with a way for the dragons to come back. Like some major event that requires them to team up again when Hiccups kids are teens. Explore how the new children navigate this unfamiliarity like their parents did at their age, and how Hiccup and gang deal with their children being in such danger that they were in as teens. It would appeal to the new younger audience as well as the people my age who grew up with the original triology. I would love to see the world explored more in its original animated form. Outside of the short series they made, of course. Im speaking about a second triology with the main characters grown up and helping their kids.
should definitely get david in for a cameo
I hope so much, the movie comes in germany in the cinemas 😅🤩
I hope that the live action movie lives up to its expectations, because if it isn’t I’mma be so disappointed 😭 tbh, I’m terrified that it’s not gonna be good enough 😬
I just want to see the dragon’s designs
Nick frost as Gobber might be the best casting ever in a film
I hope it looks like what that one behind the scenes video where toothless messes with the Viking that’s reading lines
Oh god there are so many problems with this idea. If they don't make it into an epic fantasy, then I really don't understand why they would make this film. There is SO much they could do with it if they turn it into a serious episodic film franchise BUT on the same token that will piss off a good portion of fans. Personally, as a hard-core dragons' fan I'd much rather they do something completely different that's still respectful to the original instead of copying and pasting their own film.
Without all the original voice actors. It just won’t be the same. So many times the guy who created HTYD, said he was done with series after last animated movie. He just ended up making another series that was just a clone of HTYD. Now he wants do live action movie?
Imo the last HTYD movie had serious flaws with last movie. toothless would never be able fully wild again Cus his rear wing would at some point need maintenance, and or it would break down in time. There would be nothing human made that would ever replace his real lost wing/rear wings. He would always need somebody help maintain it.
And as any person knows. Once animal been domesticated, the chances of it returning to wild and surviving is very slim. Sure toothless could hunt. But his broken wing would always require maintenance.
As for live action movie. Rather see that toothless and his mate come back to Astrid and hickup and live with them. As said without all actors. Just won’t be the same.
Damn that casting really couldnt get any worse
FINNALY FREEDOM!11!11111!11!111!11!
They could animate toothless the same way into the film
I wonder how they're gonna do the red death in live action.
All im worried about is the cast of astrid and how they're gonna make toothless look
I NEED Toothless the same in the real movie 😭❤
Should the Little Mermaid Live Action adaptation 2025 movie be released from Universal Pictures and Netflix stars Chole Grace Moretz?
wha?

Me And My Mind:🐺⚔ 🐺🛡
Im a die hard HTTYD fan and I'm already set against the remake purely bc it's a remake. I want something original for once.
Toothless vs elio. Who shall win?
I want other dreamworks films to be remade in live action like Road to El dorado Monsters vs. Aliens Rise of the Guardians and Sinbab legend of the seven seas.
Yeah that would be WAY more productive.
@huskygold5319 and a live action remake of Road to el dorado could work this. The original movie has some adult sexual scenes, and a live action remake would do justice
The story of the movies are perfect the way they are. If they’re gonna do a live action adaptation, I’d rather they take more inspiration from the books or something to make it worth doing.
Oh please get it right Universal 🙏
I don’t think they should even attempt a shot by shot remake. Generally I don’t like that. For this first 1st one they shouldn’t stray too far afield. Just relatively small tweaks to make it new enough. Sequels while staying true to the characters and the universe should tell us of different things that happened in Berk that weren’t in the original 4 movies.
With the original director being back on the chair? I trust him not to fuck anything up that much (if not at all).👍🏽
Cool so were pushing the agenda with this one too.. 😔
the thing i scare. they will change toothless to a demon or monster something. toothless keeps me in this series
Omg this sound interesting
Where are the activists? They got their DEI token in there, but Vikings were from Scandinavia (Norway, Denmark, Sweden), so why is there no outcry to have an Vikings played by, you know, people from there (that's what they did, sort of, with Lion King, although most actors had heritage from the other side of the continent while the Lion King is set on the other side of the continent (like calling Russians and Brits the same thing simply never of a white skin tone)). I'm sure there are more than enough actors to authentically play the role, and a good chance to give roles to up and comers from that region.
This comment is confusing to read but if you're complaining about one of the actors being mixed race: why do you even care? It's a fantasy movie. It's not set in the real world.
@@stuffynosepatrol Because the left loves to claim cultural appropriation (except when they do it). This was meant to call out their bs hypocrisy, that's all.
Snotlout! Snotlout! Oi! Oi! Oi!
2 red flags for me are definitely changing Astrids skin color(I'll explain later) and the realism of Toothless
1. I know that the changing of a skin color is not that big of a deal. I know that many shows and movies have done it and thousands of people have overreacted and decided beforehand that the final product will suck. I would describe it more as a brief annoyance since it's obvious that they're changing it only for brownie points and being woke. It's also annoying how they're obliterating history by having Africans as vikings which was not historically accurate. That being said, when it comes to the writing of the film changing someones skin color doesn't really matter. Just don't focus on "oh black queer feminist is so much better than the straight man and men are evil" stereotype and dedicate it to good writing and dialogue. There are a lot of shows and films that have done this and sucked not because they switched a characters skin color but because they gave them horrible dialogue and writing which viewers just found annoying. A recent example would be Velma. The skin color of the characters on the show was alright, however ever couple of seconds Velma would crack a joke about men sucking which just eliminates like 50% of the audience right there.
2. What's great about animation is that it's so great at capturing emotions in characters, especially characters which are not human. The issue with live action remakes is that because of how realistic something can be it makes something look off putting and out of place and it also makes it difficult for said thing to display emotion. I think the perfect example of this is the Lion King remake in 2019. It has everything that a movie needed and wasn't as trash as people stated it was(in my opinion) however its main flaw was that they could not properly display emotion which made so many other character moments like Mufasa's death have no impact.
Well i scared for if they will change some character into black peoples, I am looking at you dreamwork, But i am exited to see of how the red death may be the newest scary dragon in the entire world since i think her real life form will be scary (But also exited to see the others dragons and how the fight will be)
Can we just...leave it alone?
Instead of a live action version of httyd I’d rather have an animated spinoff film centered around Hiccup’s mother Valka from the second movie
Ok
Do you think a live action remake of Monsters vs. aliens could work?
Miss you toothless 😢
Not to be that person, but First!!! And I can't believe this! THIS WILL BE SO COOL!!!
The Video just came out 7 minutes ago at the time of making this coment.
So we just making vikings black now?😂
Love the originals, so I'm highly sceptical. At least the main characters are played by the original voice actors. That's the only bit that might get me interested. I'm just so done with life-action remakes and "modern takes" of classics.
Has the idea of animated films become so hated that Hollywood has to do a live action remake for everything. What happened to origional ideas and writing for live films. It's time to stop making live action remakes of animation shows that still hold up perfectly well today.
i don’t know what angers me most. the fact that astrid will surely be turned black, without blonde hair? or maybe the fact that it is a LIVE ACTION. how to train your dragon has been animated and it is how it touches our hearts. how do they expect to reciprocate toothless’s emotions by a freaking live action? this is not how to train your dragon 4 either. how to train your dragon 4 was supposed to be a sequel from httyd the hidden world, with astrid’s and hiccup’s children. so will we ever see light fury again?! its literally a remake from number one which was made decades ago. here they go again, RUINING OUR CHILDHOOD.
this better be worth my money... im already disappointed in the 9 realms considering its a mix of modern and Viking timeline, and ofc im EXTREMELY disappointed that they just HAD to waste time and their money making a kids version of how to train your dragons called "Rescue Riders." in all honesty the only good ones out there are the original 3 movies thats if you dont include the bone napper, skrill, and christmas, and dragon racers, and snoggle-tog movies, the only "Alright/decently animated series of how to train your dragons that i enjoyed was race to the edge," but then again thats just my opinion, i seriously think that they couldve done so much better with the 9 realms and actually put effort into it. most animated series that are based off of a movie, are usually not that great of quality nor are they decently good, i think if people JUST DECIDED to FINALLY make a GOOD quality animated series thats not like, 9 realms, i think they would be making a lot more money off of HTTYD. ofc, im not hating, i love universal pictures for making this show, but i just hope they step there game up, and make something actually ENJOYABLE and stick with the themes. ESPECIALLY when it comes to httyd.
Oh no, not another live action remake. And now Dreamworks is doing it too? Please tell me this is fake.
Idc about Elio or whatever I’m going to see this
Y
this is such a wasted opportunity - in that they could have made a far more book accurate httyd movie, which could have actually been interesting, cause the books and the movies are completely different stories. and the book's dragons are a lot smaller, so they could have mixed puppets in with cgi.
as is?
this will automatically be a downgrade in every area, so pass.
Keep the dragons designs. Use practical effects and don't rely so heavily on CG. And PLEASE for the love of Thor, don't make them so hyper-realistic that they lose their soul. *cough* lion king *cough*
Two white, blond, NORDIC characters being replaced with regionally incorrect ethnic minorities. Wreaks of woke Disney propaganda and agenda pushing. As much as id love to see more realistic dragons, i think there were multiple other movies in the DreamWorks universe that would be more successful to make a live action remake with. Personally, Id say either El Dorado or Spirit, but especially El Dorado. Prime opportunity to cast Latinos for the Muisca people that the movie suggests, and Spaniards on top of it for the conquistadors. That's something id be hyped for.
I dont want other as httyd charecter 😤
No. Just no.
I am not gonna watch it. Every Life-Action Version were disappointing until now. Don't believe that this will be any good.
I'm just going to pray they don't make live action the 3rd didn't do the best but alright it did but I'm sensing this will do shit and unlike werid fans I care for the characters world dragons villains writing and a movie with a good message for not just kids but everyone unvirsal does not care what we think they here just for some quick money it's embarrassing but we have no control then again I can sense it won't do good plus you can't replace Jay main character hiccup with some kid who only did horror movie🤦♂️🤦♂️ I mean they can but it won't do good I wish they stopped with sequels already and move on and fans need to move on and accept the story is over🤦♂️🤦♂️ especially the werid ones top reasons why I dislike fanbases
I expect NOTHING from this remake, except a big pile of hot shit. Liveaction isn't better ... when will people understand that?
Ehh, can't be worse than Nine Realms...
Hate all the actors so far
