    I just opened the video and after 2 mins saw the buffer line and then realised it is a 52 mins video , with time increment and time control and the level of concentration of these top level players is just fantastic

    I'm surprised that the arbiter didn't follow completeley the rule. The game should be replayed by the 2 players with the help of the arbiter, not the arbiter herself at the beginning. Nice intervention by Nikopoulos 😊

    I would think at this level, moves are tracked using a computerised/sensor board. A computer would say "no draw" in a nanosecond. To double check board malfunction, just verify player scorecards against computer record. No need to replay the moves manually.

      I analysed with Deep Fritz one of my games. Suddenly he wrote : Perpetual. So you`re right!

    • @shy4440
      @shy4440 6 років тому +1

      Yes, but think about why we use human referee in olympic game.
      What is spirit of olympic or sports?
      The keyword is "Human's pure ability"
      Sports is done for improving human's pure ability. Sports needs to be done by human's pure ability.
      Also, judging the game should be basically done without help of device.
      When something is really difficult to judge, we can use device, but this time, human can figure out even though it took some time.
      We can use device at sports, but it should be used as a last chance, not as the first priority.

    • @manfredbley1908
      @manfredbley1908 6 років тому

      Yes you`re right. The player has to remark if it is a perpetual, not the computer. This belongs to the game, makes it to sport.

    21:42 I was thinking for Ju she could block the check with her queen, yes that leaves the back pawn unguarded but first of all Kosteniuk has to move her queen or she loses it, and 2nd if Kosteniuk moves her knight to take the undefended pawn after getting the Queen to a safe square then the pawn that's one square away from becoming a queen, becomes a 2nd queen as it's undefended.
    Edit: the knight capturing the back pawn doesn't come with check so Kosteniuk loses if she tries it and by blocking the check then, I think Kosteniuk will have a hard time continuing trying to get checks in with her Queen

    im confused AF she traded her 2nd queen for the Knight? why not just keep it on the board? Was it just a sacrifice to get the knight for a pawn in theory? Anyways, im guessing the final score was 0-1?

    • @gmchessplay9043

      Well aside from the Men actually being better at chess than women, even if it seems like a binary game, having a women's chess champion and mens chess champion gives more opportunity for people to fight for a championship.

    • @quattroquinti8453
      @quattroquinti8453 4 роки тому +6

      Because of the sexual dimorphism. Not only are men physically stronger on average but also hardwired differently so that it makes them perform better at chess than women (again on average).
