Corporal, I'm a 67 yr old (VN ERA vet, never in country, European duty due to MOS, i.e Pershing Missile related). Of all your vids I've watched, this one has got to be listed as my #1 favorite. Teaching a youth, assuming your son, is one of the greatest things I have seen you do. Trust me, at my age I know what I'm talking about, the memory you and your son will have of days like the one creating this vid will bring a smile on your faces in the years to come. Cherish them. One other thing, maybe you could let the young man join you in more of your teaching vids. Would be great for all of us to watch and learn from you as you pass down your knowledge not only to UA-camrs but your off spring as well. I say it that way because you may have a girl as well. Keep up the outstanding work your doing.
Cool to see a father & son together having fun in nature...lil man was having as much if not more fun than his dad....awesome job guys keep up the great work...
Your son is incredibly lucky to have a father that does things like this with him. Some father's are violent drunks, others are just emotionally detached and couldn't care less about spending time with their sons or teaching them anything.
Another top notch video!! Your son is lucky to have you for his dad! I can only imagine the wealth of information he will learn over the years from your experiences! As you say, Outstanding!! Good to go!
I know this video came out a long time ago but I'd never gone back to see it since it was from before I started watching the channel. Very imformative. I learned a couple of new knots. I now know where the scene from the start of all your videos comes from so glad this showed up in my queue today!
One of the best teachers on You Tube by a mile. Explain things clearly plus love that you pause for a while on a knot, etc so we can take in how it should look. Makes we want to go out and do these things when lockdown ends.
Good show Dad. The only thing I would add to both rope bridge and knot videos is the fact that the butterfly knot puts far less stress on the rope than other knots, making it the best knot for mid-line connections.
As always, done with perfection! Thanks for the safety hints and advice! Thanks so much, Sir! And best regards to your kid - I was lucky enough to share time and stuff with my father: those were amongst the best times and gifts of my life. And finally, that's what life is all about... Thanks a lot and best from Germany to you and your beloved ones, Tom
I appreciate the close ups of the knot work, its been awhile since I had to do this stuff and I cant remember alot of the knot names and techniques. Thanks again
Nice to see the young man being so confident,he has a great teacher. You are very good at explaining and makes any task look very easy. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge with us
I saw someone fall off a two-rope bridge, so I came to UA-cam to learn how to do it properly, and this was the first video I came across. I must say, you remind me of Steven Seagal.
Love your channel corporal, I’m a new subscriber brought in from your solo over night vids and reviews but enjoy your entire catalog. Just to echo off everyone else comments this has to be my favorite video. My father brought me out camping at a young age and I have many, many cherished memories with him in the outdoors. Seeing you with your son spending quality time in nature, having fun is an amazing thing, reminded me of my childhood with my dad. I wish you happy Father’s Day and thank you for your hard work on your videos.
Jee Whizz Corporal I thaught u somehow managed to "clone" yourself! Then I realized the young man must be family as he's got your look's, right down to the "shade's"! Plenty of time on our hands here so keep coming across these golden oldie's from u. Outstanding video as usual. Stay Safe, keep that lil dude safe and of course Salute and Respect ♥
I know it's an old video, but these experiences shape the lives of young people. No matter what paths they find themselves on along the way...these times help them find their way to the core character that can guide them.
Man I love your channel! Thanks for doing what you do! I have a small tract of timber in east Texas and you’ve given me a ton of ideas for me and young boys to do out there. Thanks!
@@recall5811 I get notified every week for your weekly videos. I'm also going back and watching older stuff. But I put 3-5 weeks on a loop and let them play over and over after I watch, also share everywhere. Just trying to do my part Sir. Thanks for an amazing channel and videos. Thank you
May you explain us why you choose alpine butterfly loop over the usual truckers hitch loop ? More leverage ? Not breaking the rope ? I would like to know more about why this or that knot, and the mindset behind :) Thanks !
Great video. Can you comment on the use of gloves/no-gloves for postman rope bridge crossing? IMO would prefer training both ways in controlled environment.
Me at 252.2 pounds at 6 foot, being a firefighter, watching corporals corner do some rope bridges, sees his son doing it. What my girlfriend hears: "DAMN IT THIS KID IS MORE BAD ASS THAN I AM"
Hey, boss, can you show us how to get across in the first place if you can't swim across? Like if you're trying to get from one roof top to another and there's contaminated flood water, or something. Can you use a crossbow or grappling hook or something?
You wouldn't want to leave ropes exposed like this for a long period of time, the UV light damage will eventually break them down. For a more permanent solution, I'd go with steel cable. You'd want to be careful not to damage the bark and would probably need to redo the anchors occasionally to avoid damaging the tree long term.
I was taught a different way of tying the alpine butterfly, by making a ccw loop and twisting it twice ccw and taking the bite under and through the centre of the twist. Thoughts?
Mike Moore I tried learning it that way frm another YT channel and I had to do it multiple times to get it right and remember it, but then forgot after a couple of weeks. Seriously, I watched this video once, sat on a couch with a meter of paracord and got it right the first time and every time since then. This channel is weird, like it makes you remember stuff. I think that's because it goes right into application and then reinforced with repetition on every other video.

Well said Brother, I agree whole heartedly with u. Thanks for your service too Brother. Salute and Respect. ♥
Young firefighter to older military veteran, thank you for your service, but now it's my turn to serve YOU!
Thank you for your Service Sir! Greatest Generation!
Cool to see a father & son together having fun in nature...lil man was having as much if not more fun than his dad....awesome job guys keep up the great work...
Shared. Timeless even after years. A great simple tutorial
Gotta get your son wearing a bandana like dad. Thanks for sharing. Never too young to learn life’s skills.
Your son is incredibly lucky to have a father that does things like this with him. Some father's are violent drunks, others are just emotionally detached and couldn't care less about spending time with their sons or teaching them anything.
Well, I stuck around young man. Glad I did. Thanks. Another video for my grandson.
Just bought a house with that span of trees in the backyard....showed this to my son....will be learning this together. Thanks!
So cool
Awesome series! Great to see a young man "learning the ropes"! Carry on.
Another top notch video!! Your son is lucky to have you for his dad! I can only imagine the wealth of information he will learn over the years from your experiences! As you say, Outstanding!! Good to go!
this remains one of the most informative, nuts-and-bolts channels on YT. Well done. PS - great kid!!
Thank you, spread the word about my channel so It can grow

Always love videos when a parent includes their kid.
EXCELLENT demonstration. Your son is so lucky to have you.

Awesome job with both the technical instruction, and the parenting!
Thank you
great videp.that's a very lucky young boy, learning survival so early in life, and from an expert father.
very cool when a father and son team.thank you for the lesson

Outstanding. Teaching life skills to leaders of tomorrow is critical to the Republics survive. Well done sir.
I have learned more watching your videos than I did in my years in the Marine Corps, I am a Vietnam Veteran. Enjoyed your son in the video. Semper Fi.
Nice to see the young man being so confident,he has a great teacher. You are very good at explaining and makes any task look very easy. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge with us
Well I’ll be... there’s hope for the next generation.
Awesome video nice to see your son in it, he seems like a smart smart man
Great kid you've got there, Corporal. You come up with some unique projects.
Cool to watch. Simple to understand. Thanks for yet another tool to add to the arsenal.
Excellent, and great help from the little man!
Though not so little now considering this was three years ago.
I think this is one my favorites, Sean. Carry on Corporal.
I saw someone fall off a two-rope bridge, so I came to UA-cam to learn how to do it properly, and this was the first video I came across. I must say, you remind me of Steven Seagal.

Cool!!!! Thanks, for demonstrating this simple, but useful knowledge!!!
Great !! So....that's where the cool ending comes from. And such a nice young man.
Oh! Wow. I just happened on this particular video and it's wonderful to see how the ending credits that I've seen for a few years now; came to be!!❤
Thanks once a gain for a clear and well thought out presentation. ATB. Nigel
Thank you Sir for the continued support
Thank you corporal. From Japan.
A future Marine in the making...nothing wrong with early training. Pretty cool. Semper Fi.
Great information, well presented - thank you. Your son is learning all the right skills!
I really enjoy your videos and instruction. I have learned all my knots from you. Keep up the great work.
More to come, thanks for watching and for the support
Awesome video. Looks like a lot of fun. I’m going to show this video to my stepdad so we can add this to our survival book. Thank you
Wow! Your boy's growing quick. Outstanding video.

Great stuff. Great information.

Fantastic video that will inspires others to quality team work 😊😊👏👏 little due sure is GREAT!!
Great stuff, keep posting!
Crazy how much the little guy has change from this video to the recent videos of him and Corporal. 2 cool guys 🤟
Awesome. Nice collaboration
Outstanding Corporal!. I Got-Dam guarantee their aint no single moms out there teaching their sons that. Carry on.
Buck Fifty what does that mean? Women’ can do these things. And if you were a father you would teach your daughter, because she not worth the effort?
Buck Fifty Obama never had a Father to teach him anything. Corporal is awesome! Boys need Fathers.
Wrong!
Absolutely right!
If I were your mother I'd teach you not to be sexist.
7:55 Lol, that kid and his nod, that cracked me up!
A chip off the Marine Corps block. Great Vid.
first time seeing this video!!
YT says all subs were notified

Absolutely awesome 😎
Great teaching for youth. He'll make a fine marine one day.
The kids did an awesome job
Active fathers are the coolest people around.
Hey ..great to see. " Lance Corporal " ...oooooorah !
Outstanding video devil dog. My questions is how can you recover your rope? You may need it for another crossing.
That was indeed good to go
May you explain us why you choose alpine butterfly loop over the usual truckers hitch loop ? More leverage ? Not breaking the rope ? I would like to know more about why this or that knot, and the mindset behind :) Thanks !
Just AWESOME & LOVELY ^_^
he has grown up so much since then
Nice lesson men.

Haaaaaa
Very cool video
Cool video and exercise.
I think a voodoo loop with a clove hitch is a better way to tension a rope.
Cool...good job, guys! Thank you!
Great vid and awesome to have your son involved. Very cool!
06/30/2022 Second watchingh. Good to see you working with a boy. He needs training and one on one male time. Very good. Don

Thank you--great tutorial. Would this work long term or would it kill the tree over time?

Excellent!
Good stuff Cpl
I could see making this into a "ready-to-go" kit, so you have a 50' bridge kit or a 100' bridge kit.
Can you provide some more detail about the line used?
Passing a rope around a tree is a lot easier when you have a helper :) Good job everyone!
I was taught a different way of tying the alpine butterfly, by making a ccw loop and twisting it twice ccw and taking the bite under and through the centre of the twist. Thoughts?
There is always more than one way to do something.
Mike Moore

IS the alpine butterfly better than a quick marline spike? Like you would do on a truckers hitch.
Great video. Should have your son help more often 😃
Outstanding AF
love the videos with med size dude lol
Great vid.
Thanks for the info
Finally the corporal gets a private!
can you do more videos like this
Go to my main page and look under rope bridges. Thanks for watching
So if you can get to the other side what's the sense of making the bridge?
This channel is great tho. Thx for video!
