- We got an old Bench Grinder "Aichi's BENCH GRINDER TYPE E1" made in 1974.
In the old box, there was a grinder in a very good condition, with a cute shape like a retro car.
There was almost no runout of the rotating shaft, and it was stable.
It's a special treat for us all when Ishitani puts out a video!
He’s a special human being!
Just heading out to the workshop when this pops up so I watch the video and will now head out with more inspiration 🙂
Love the fact he has a bin of random washers, somethings are just universal truths around the world. Whether it's Japan, Canada, the US, Germany, India, Russia, or Sweden, You can always count on a guy to have a bin of random washers and bolts..
... and Australia !!!
I can confirm my shed in the UK has several such bins!
Hi, guys! I'm from Russia. I've got some bins! 🙂That is one of the thing that unites all the goog guys all around the world.
So agree same in UK
Same from Southern California...Several bins full of washers but WHY can I never find the one I need?
Wow. Nice find. Old tools just have a certain 'made to last forever' quality to them.
Always like before start watching
Always a great day when the Master has a new video.
Good to see you again!
The grinder runs smooth and true. No wobble, no out of balance vibrations, and it doesn't bog down while sharpening the tool. Great find!
How can we know for sure though, without the quality inspector stopping by to check?
🤩 Such a lucky find! Looks like it fits right in with your excellent workshop! 😎✌️
That is a nice machine. Much better tool rests than a lot of grinders.
Perfect for sharpening lathe tools! Great work. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, what a find.
Very nice! It's hard to find a bench grinder today with good tool rests. Your videos continue to be very enjoyable! 👍🙏
I like a nice bench grinder. The one I use at work was also made around that time. It has lasted longer than some of the newer ones that have come and gone.
That is the nicest bench grinder I have seen.
フィルム、色合いともに長く愛用できそうなグラインダーですね。50年前の工具だからこそシンプルでいて、よく作られているように思います。
That's a gem. Thanks for sharing.
What a great find! That bench grinder will last you a very long time.
Id love to see a shop tour video of some kind!
thanks
nice to see such care being taken with the shop tools.
U can tell even at 50 yrs old thats a QUALITY grinder.
Thank you for the video Ishitani.👍👍
What an awesome find, in the original packaging too. Wow....
Checking tolerances on a 50 year old grinder that was packed in the original box. I want to live there!
precision in everything he does
Beautiful as ever. I would love just half of those filming & editing skills.
Nice tool rests!
Fun video :) thanks
That sliver middle switch is cool.
Very nice tool. Even with near zero runout, a sound caught my ear. You may want to check the motor bearings at some time in the future. I replaced the bearings in my even older grinder and also my table saw motor. Quite a difference in the sound after.
Beautiful,
Como siempre, magistral.
The madman did it. He made an ASMR video about a bench grinder.
Wow! it's hard to find BENCH GRINDER made in Japan in this era
I hope to see more videos
I'd love to learn more about Ishitani's career and training.
Little love and care and it will work a lifetime
What a gem of a little grinder and nice work tuning it up 👍
I also have this machine but it's older .(i'm from VietNam ✌️)
Is that the Aichi that made aircraft in the 1930s?
Hello Mister Ishitani, do you want to be a competitor with "My Mechanics" ? 😊 Congratulations for your job, I'm a big fan !
What is the grammage of each grinding wheel?
Now they say we have to sharpen tools with machines that cost 30x the price of a bench grinder, nice to see you can use one effectively.
I have to say I didn't know that it was for until the last 90sec😅
Great machine, do you use it for regrinding normal chisels and plane blades too? Or just for turning tools?
I think you should try CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) wheels. they run cooler, stay true and last a very long time. they never need dressing. almost as hard as diamond wheel.
I would love to know what grinding wheels he put on there, especially for the right hand side, the one he used for the spindle gouge? Thanks for the video.
Hi Ishitani Furniture, is that 125mm grinding wheels, I cant get that anywhere all I can get is 150mm. Dave from Joburg...
👍👏🏽
That thing is almost as old as me. Trust me, I look more like the box than the grinder.
😂 Welcome to the club! 😎✌️
THAT'S NOT OLD!!! 😂 It's just perfectly seasoned lol.
I missed Shiro . I hope he is well.
👍
Look at the tool rests on this thing. I bought a new "professional" BOSH grinder and the tool rests are fit for a trash can.
Also, nice to see ISHITANI diversifying the content!
The grinder & I have the same age 😅
What is old, is new again!
Say hello to Shiro for me. :)
I can’t be alone in wondering - if you’re so cold as to be wrapped up like that, why not light the fire? Nice grinder!
Do you have any updates regarding your rock wall?
これって砥石部分の面直しってどうやるんでしょう
Tradition slowly fading.
はい、もちろん、私のものはこれとは比べものになりませんでした。

Hello
If you take care of good quality tools and don't abuse them, they will last your lifetime.
I don't know why but this music was going through my head. Maybe I am watching way too many woodworking videos....
🤣
