The gifted and original Walter Piston now almost totally forgotten. Even the Boston Symphony ignores his legacy.

I believe these recordings were generally made in Europe, likely Vienna, where there were many players and the American dollar was very strong. They'd rehearse a new piece a few times until it was ready to be recorded.
