I’m a believer and I still feel pretty hopeless from time to time. I guess I’m not saved enough or I’m not believing hard enough. I just look around and I don’t see any reason to be hopeful. Hope is nice, but it’s not a strategy.

@joleaneshmoleane8358 No such thing as " saved enough" or " believe hard enough". Unless God actually drew you to him, you aren't his. If you are born again, He saved you by putting His holy spirit into u. You can't believe, do works, do deeds, or earn your salvation cause he did it freely. That's like your child saying Mom, if I try to love you more, call you my mommy nicer- then you'll love me, and I'll from time to time believe I'm your child.

When He was in the garden before his crucifixion and begged God for another way, I had no doubt he felt a sense of hopelessness, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t saved or don’t believe enough 💛
I’ve tried so many times but it doesn’t help enough and eventually if doesn’t help at all. I’m not trying to be rude. I’ve tried Jesus at least 3-4 times in my life and it’s never enough to keep despair at bay. Frankly, I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t feel despair. Just look around. How could you not feel despair unless you’re able to successfully ignore reality?
Being a Christian doesn't mean you won't experience despair, some of the great people in the Bible went thru great despair. We just have to realize that God is with us in the midst of our despair, he has everything under control.
I can relate to what you are saying about despair probably due to my personality type ( half empty glass kind of gal). I became a born again believer (Praise God and His Son for loving us so much) in the summer before 7 thgrade. It was later in adulthood that I searched thru the Holy Bible and Christian books that Christ is so, so, so much more powerful than the devil, the father of all lies and probably the main cause of despair. The difference in power is so pronounced, and also, Christ knows our thoughts and what we will do in the future. The devil doesn't have that ability. All he can do is dangle a piece of bait on a hook in front of us and see if we will take the bite. Christ knows even before we do if we will take the bite. He and God are so on our side, and they are so for us who believe and have accepted Christ as our Saviour. We have so much hope through Jesus Christ and His awesome power. It's like comparing a pebble ( the devil's power) to Mount Everest ( Christ's power), and this is likely a very modest comparison. Christ's power is so much more. Thinking of this will help with despair, I know if definitely helps me.
Why do I have such a HARD time with sexual sin? I have tried and tried and gotten aid of things that provide easy access to allow it and prayed asked God, prayed , cried cried and cried! And I can't do it!!! I don't believe God wants to help me with this! I don't understand, I don't get it and I can't do this anymore.
