  • Broadway superstar Kristin Chenoweth invites 17 year old high school Junior Natalie Brown on stage to sing a duet of For Good from Wicked. Natalie brought the crowd to its feet and some in to tears as the teen nailed every note without any rehearsal or even meeting Kristin before she was called up on to stage at Chenoweth's sold out concert at the Touhill Center in St Louis.

    All the time. In the car. In the shower. In the kitchen. Until you, our friends and families, want to strangle us.
    Because you never know when Kristin Chenowith is gonna pull you on stage for an impromptu duet. You just never know. It’s important to be prepared for any contingency.

    As beautiful as the duet was, what Kristin said afterwards was even more powerful. We've lost our appreciation for the arts in America, I feel, and it's more important than ever for young people to feel that pursuing a life in theater, or music, or dance, or painting, is not just possible but necessary. We need people like this young lady. We need lots of them, and I thank Kristin from the bottom of my heart for giving them hope.

      Mark Sarong oh, i don't know about that - let's *not* be snobs, lest we sound like snooty @assholes..plus, ➕ many people have a *great* appreciation for things they can't afford, not limited to a safe & comfortable home, food and clothing..maybe tickets to a musical 🎼 🎼 or a yacht ⛵ ride or trip, a good iPhone, etc..if they're lucky 🍀 they'll have a wished for experience via the generosity of a relative or a friend.
      that aside, money 💰 💰 💰 💰 or no money, i don't believe i'd have any interest in stage plays - or, more specifically, musicals, had i not been raised on them.

    • @pn818
      @pn818 7 років тому +26

      Mark Sarong I personally don't hate it.. and I used to be obsessed with it but the older I've gotten and the more I've seen it I've noticed it has many plot holes and things that don't add up... it's still a fun musical with gorgeous costumes and sets.

    • @SilverArro
      @SilverArro 7 років тому +39

      Most people don't really hate the musical itself - they hate the huge buzz it generated and they feel that it doesn't deserve all of the attention it continues to get. A lot of it has to do with the fact that the show has a pretty young fanbase as Broadway shows go. So older people get a little cranky when they hear the younger generation try to compare it to classic gems like Gypsy or Sweeney Todd. I was 15 when Wicked opened, and I loved every bit of it. As far as I was concerned, Wicked and Rent were the only two shows that Broadway needed.
      Then I got older and continued developing my love for musical theater. I've seen something like 50 shows now, and although Wicked will always hold a special place in my heart as being one of the things that showed me the magic of the theater as a kid, I definitely see its flaws and I can understand why some people are just sick of hearing about it by now. It's the Cats of our generation.

      Comes from being a generation raised where most people watch sitcoms orders voice tracks and signs held up to applaud on every TV show just about several soap operas about child abuse being the right way to pay that most moms watch. At least when I was growing up sadly I came home early one day my roommate was watching One the dad screaming at a four-year-old child how dishonoring you was because he told the truth screaming at him like he was a grown man no wonder why the world is the way it is people can have a little patience to enjoy a good performance. The only important thing in that song aside from the lesson of valuing good friends and that every person we meet should be that it's the way it comes about acknowledging mistakes and forgiving those that make mistakes. Pretty sure that's the main theme of a book That's supposed to be in school but the history doesn't line up with what's taught currently if it did what we had slaves in this nation that book has the leader God say don't do that anymore when the Jews negate the Jubilee system Freedom after 6 years everything returned. this was a Christian Nation the government would have acknowledged that a long time ago and start it over or not done amendments. seems like remorse not repentance just like in that book at least a resentment kept by most people. pushing past wrongs and not acknowledging them but barely is the opposite of the theme of the song. everybody believed what this song says would there be anybody that own a gun and shot bullets ever?
