The correct way to hit confirm single hits is glancing at the opponent's health bar, surprised it wasn't talked about in the video. It's a lot easier than trying to differentiate between hit and block animation
Well, if you start think about what color you see rather than what the character is doing, that makes a huge difference. There's a reason hit sparks are yellow/orange, and block sparks are white/blue: they're opposite on the color wheel.
These videos have been great for me. Having something small to practice and try in matches really makes the whole learning grind less intimidating. Thank you
OMG dude, this means so much coming from you! I used to watch your show religiously when I first got in the scene over 10 years ago. Thank you for being an inspiration
Glad it was helpful and yes, basics really do go a long way! Working on basics is always one of the best ways to be able to learn any character quickly
It is kinda funny to see 16f labeled "Not feasible" and see Punk confirming Cammy cr.MP (15f confirm window) into super in very high stress, high leverage situations.
Great Video, man! LUV having take-aways to head to the lab with 🕹 As an 'FG Enthusiast' who's trying to get my friends/coworkers interested, these 'Coachable Moments' def help ME by providing stellar examples & exercises to show them while they're still working on Fundamentals
In season 1 she had one of the best hit confirms with F/B MP but she lost that in season 2. There are only a handful of moves in the game that are truly hit-confirmable so she isn’t really an outlier anymore
Oh no, now there will be no more modern autocombo mashers, they will now know how to hit confirm lmao... for real tho, some people really needed this.. i've been seeing people as high as low MR masters, not knowing how to hitconfirm
Great video as always Chris, I'm wondering if you use PC, and if so what are your specs? I feel like I'm always getting hit with DIs in ps4 so hoping changing to PC will help
Is there a way to get the dummy to keep blocking while on the random block setting? Every time the dummy blocks it stops blocking after my second jab...
Yes there is but you need to set it manually. Here’s what you can do: Block: all Reversal on block: slot 1 do nothing, slot 2 4F light attack You can add more do nothing and/or 4F lights in slots 3-5 to increase the likelihood of block or attack coming out
revisiting this vid. you said Luke's able to hit confirm with 2 cMP because it has enough "hit stop". i didn't understand this bit, any chance you can elaborate on this? i'm trying to apply all your techniques with Ryu (my main, and only). thanks!
So, hit stop is the animation that plays out when your opponent gets hit plus the total plus frames you’re left with after your attack animation ends. Does this explanation make sense?
Yes he can, it’s +4 on regular hit so you can only combo into standing light punch but you need to be close. Glad you liked the video and thank you for the sub!!
So Chun Li's 4MP has 17 frames of leeway. I can't hit confirm 4MP even in training mode, so it's good to know it's supposed to be hard. It would make a huge difference if I could do it though.
17F confirm windows are pretty easy. It's ~280ms to confirm whether it was blocked or hit. If you account for Input Lag, it's roughly 220-240ms to react, which is well within the average human visual reaction time. If you cannot do it, you need to practice more, or you likely have more Input Lag than you think. I currently believe that there is some compatibility issues with AMD CPUs and SF6 which is causing approximately 3-4F more Input Lag compared to Intel CPUs or even Xbox or PS5 with IDR turned on.
@@Chris_F It says 74.99hz in windows settings. I've never looked into that before. What does that mean, I need to buy a monitor with higher than 144hz or I'll have extra input lag?
No they are two completely different things. Recovery is how long it takes before your character can move again after the active frames of your attack end
So I finally bite the bullet and bought a console to play this game. I always saw videos of fighting games and they looked very fun. I did a bit of world tour and then tried a combo trial, only to discover that I cannot do any combo. Everything is so tightly timed. I cannot press the buttons that fast (and there are a lot of buttons). I hated the experience and don't know if I'll ever touch the game (or the console) again. It ended up being a big waste of money.
I totally understand your frustrations and it is something I struggled with when I first played fighting games too. Fighting games are a bit like learning the guitar: lots of people are surprised at how hard guitar is at first. Don’t get discouraged though! I recommend doing some veeeery simple combos for a few minutes every day and before you know it you’ll improve!
I've been trying to hitconfirm single hits for a long time, but I can't confirm the 19f window of ken's 5HP even in training mode. I've actually noticed that not even daigo tries to cancel hitconfirm that, he'll instead either react to the counterhit and link 5LK, or cancel 5HP into fireball on hit or on block. it really seems like hitconfirming single hits is not that important, and there are many better things to learn before that. I found that assuming that if a move hits it'll be a counterhit and using that extra hitstun to create combo strings to be much more reliable than they stress of having to correctly react in 20 or less frames
Saying it's not as important is not valid. You could try to rationalize any skill issue that way. Hit confirms will 100% increase your damage output when using the appropriate moves and prevent you from being minus on block as often while maintaining pressure. If you say you don't think something is important just because you're bad at it or because it's only used in certain situations, then you'll never get good at fighting games
Kens standing punch is not a real hitconfirm , as aren't almost any of the 1 hit normals unless counter hit or punish counter . I have never seen anyone confirm kens raw 5 hp in real matches , confirming into counter or punish counter is definitely doable , set your dummy to random block and random counter or punish counter , when it's punish counter hit st lk into hp srk , when it's punish counter either 2 mk or 2mp . U can then go tatsu or extend your combo with dr cancel . Again this button is not a true hitconfirm nor anyone should try to play like that . I'm a master ken so i ought to know a thing or two .
I think it really comes down to the button you’re using and the options you have after. I’ve definitely seen Xian hit confirm deejays cr.mp into specials. Ken has a safe options after st.HP so hit confirming that isn’t necessary, but this is something that will def change when playing online or offline.
I will agree there are many things to learn before focusing on confirms off single hits, but they are 100% important to use for the people that can implement them. Being advanced tech doesn't mean it isn't important. It just isn't worth focusing on if a person isn't good at hit confirms in the first place, and a lot of people have trouble properly hit confirming even off of two or three chained lights, let alone one medium button. But the person that can do it consistently will reap the rewards.
The correct way to hit confirm single hits is glancing at the opponent's health bar, surprised it wasn't talked about in the video. It's a lot easier than trying to differentiate between hit and block animation
I'll try that too 👍
Doesnt work for me
@@RexusK76i mean you gotta practice , it’s not gonna work every time

Fantastic video, thanks for always putting stuff in a way that's so easy to follow and actively practice.

Just what I've been trying to work one lately 😸
I've been confirming off of DR, it works but it's expensive 😅
Def expensive but at least it’s safe!
Thanks for this. Was getting discouraged not being able to hit confirm chun's 2mk.
Yeah don’t worry about it, that’s def not hit confirmable. Thank you for watching!
I really need to practice buffering, it’s an insane concept because I’m too busy thinking ahead in the future for my combos -_-
Just take it a day at a time and you’ll get it soon my man! Thx for watching!
Now I understand one of the many reasons why Chun is so hard to play, she has very few generous hit confirms compared to other fighters.

For some reason I can single hit confirm medium links all day but I can almost never get the 17f cancel on Kim’s stHP.
