True, but its contents were deleted or corrupted intentionally by the captain of the ship that found the derelict before coming to Sevastapol.
The only records of the Nostromo's events were on his ship and the fragments found around the station, both of which were destroyed.
Unless they reference Apollo and suggest Wey-Yu got their info from its memory - which would be an acceptable explanation.
Nearing the end of 1979 Alien, you can hear MUTHUR say "you now have 1 minute to abandon ship" to Ripley while strapping in and purging.
MUTHUR was on the Nascissis all the way, recording everything and relaying it back to HQ.
Everyone is not thinking... This not the only Xenomorph that Ripley has blown out into space through a airlock... The Queen Xenomorph was blown out a airlock as well...

Well yeah, but that's after Romulus
The queen dies on her way back to lv426 she burns up in atmosphere although you see her temporarily alive from the airlock but she falls back towards lv426 and burns to pieces on way back down
maybe even likewise with the Torrens in Isolation. There were several xenomorphs in kind of a hibernation stasis after they were blown off Sevastapol. I think that was Fede Alvarez' inspiration for this.

@@jimbowlan5804 Well - Muthur was a 2.1 Terabyte Mainframe with a 2 TB backup, the Sulaco was 28 terabyte 60 core Mainframe AI. The Sulaco was designed to conduct all ships functions without a Human interface other than giving verbal instructions. It's AI was capable of autonomously conducting combat threat assessments and reacting using the multiple onboard weapons systems all on it's own. The Nostromo was in effect a tug boat and the Sulaco was a weapons platform and a transport vessel. So given there is about 50 years between them and they perform very different functions I would say the Sulaco was more advanced?
I hope they don't bring back Big Chap. Space is big. Even if they knew the exact location of where the Nostromo blew up, finding an object the size of a person just floating around in deep space just strains credulity. It's bordering on "somehow palpatine returned".
They’ve already shown him in the trailers, he’s turned into a fossilized asteroid and then the meddling kids thaw him out. Also the Scorched Alien merch shows him with the human like skull beneath his dome.

Just my thoughts, when Ripley shot it with the harpoon, the harpoon had a transmitter in it. That is how they find it.
i disagree. It would be a math heavy job, but finding an object like that is right in the wheelhouse of what regular, real nasa math nerds do for a living, and in the Alien universe they have deep space drones and satellite relays and synthetics to help. Finding big chaps body in space seems a safer, more anonymous way to get that sweet xeno genetic material.

By this, Im suggesting that the Special features on the Prometheus Blu Ray and the plot elements of Alien Isolation are entertaining and thought provoking;
But not all fans of Alien have a Blu Ray player or Home Game Console.
Besides; until/unless Sir Ridley and/or his like minded artisans say differently;
1. The distress signal on the Derelict was set by David in his latest plan to lure in humanity and disrupt their colonization efforts.
2. The eggs on the Derelict were created through the frozen embryos on the Covenant.
3. The Derelict was an appropriated Juggernaut from Planet IV
4. The Space Jockey was a captured Engineer, and tied down to his bio chair... like the Titan Prometheus, tied to a rock for the Eagles to feast.
In this case, the Engineer was bio-woven into the chair a'la Elizabeth Shaw's transfornation in Davids lab.
Now;
As for the Renaissance Station knowing the lore,; its obvious to me that all activity aboard the Nostromo is transmitted back to Network;
And I suspect David IS the network.
Somehow between films, David dumped his core consciousness into the Weyland Network.

I suggested that David captures an Engineer, and once rendered inert, surgically attaches same to a Juggernaut control chair.
If you ever studied the set / art work from Alien; (To say nothing of Dallas's statement about growing out of the chair) you'll note that the Space Jockey has no legs. It's just a humanoid torso fused into the biomechanical chair.
The only explanation I can think of that would fit this .... and that of David creating the Xenomorph's, is that a Jockey is a freak job a'la Elizabeth Shaw's transfornation.

There has to be a link to Ash. With his voice being used in a TV spot, and him talking about the end of Alien, he's got to be involved. If he was able to download himself, likely at the time he was revived by Ripley for questioning, he could operate within Mother's network. I think it would be cool if it was Ash who guided the alien aboard the Narcissus before the Nostromo self destructed. If people are right, and that was the Narcissus spotted in trailers, then both Ash and Ripley are right there at the Romulus space station. Ash in the systems like a virus, and Ripley in hypersleep. That Ash is one nasty piece of work!
I think it’s more plausible that the Romulus station went looking, they found the Narcissis and held onto it, checking the data holding on to Ripley. That would explain why she drifted right past the core systems. I don’t think it’s a random occurrence that we see the Narcissis in the trailer for Romulus crashing into the rings.
In the comics there are other Ash models & Weyland-Yutani even uploaded an Ash A.I. into a Working Joe model as a disguise to achieve their goals
The colony is already established before the events of Alien, the malicious act is why to build and Station the Romulus near the Thedes
My only question is, if they knew all of this, then why bother looking? They knew where the Nostromo had been so why wait for a colony to be established and then send a team out? There are two other things, in ADF's Alien Novel, when Ash is sat in the science blister he is looking at a screen that details the ship and the cave below as he had this information in advance. This is backed up when Kane descends into the egg chamber if you look careful the background shows that the cave is huge, way bigger than the derelict. Lovin this BTW, I have high hopes.....
This does raise a few questions about the Shuttle and it's capabilities. Namely - was it capable of FTL communication, relevant to the next question what speed was it traveling at? The Nostromo cruised at 153C, was the shuttle FTL or inertial (way below C). The speed of the shuttle would determine the space that would need to be searched, even if it dropped out at 10% c the volume of space to be searched would be huge. So why bother searching it, just go back to LV426, even if you had to search the whole planetoid (1200km diameter I believe) it would be way quicker than searching space for the big chap!
Because in the original script for Alien 2 Cameron had Weyland-Yutani being bought out by another conglomerate while Ripley was floating in the space. In other words they weren't aware of the derelict. In Aliens it's basically Burke who goes out of his way to try and get Xenomorph specimens for the company. So how involved or aware they are is more ambiguous.
Thedus is in the alien isolation novel I believe, that has Amanda Ripley searching for her mother somewhat.
Have you ever listened to any of the Alien Original Dramas on Audible? There are 3, Out of the Shadows, River of Pain and Sea of Sorrows they're all fully voice acted and well worth a listen to Out of the Shadows takes place before Aliens but Ripley is in it, it also explains why it took 50 years for Ripley to be found, I might be misremembering but I'm sure it also revealed that there was communication between weyland yutani and the Narcissus, and yes it does explain why none of the events are ever mentioned in Aliens the explanation was very cliche lol

I find it ironic that Weyland Yutani created this huge monopoly in space. You mean to tell me that there were no other competing companies out there trying to find the Xenomorph through leaked files from employees? I'd like to see a second company come into fray even if they get short lived. Everything is an arms race.

I think they found Naccisus by tracking it, checked the flight recorder , same as they do in Aliens which "substanciates part of her story" . They work out when and where the airlock was opened then go get the alien. They have the narcissus hence the trailer and at some point in the film they cut it lose to be licated for Aliens.

Nostromo distress Beacon under the direction of the emergency destruct sequence launches a ships log. This is standard procedure, I believe that's how they have all this information.
Starting to wonder if we’ll get a CGI/look a like of Ash in the movie. A Ash 2.0 or just like Bishop the real Ash. Especially with his voice in a latest trailer.
Forgot which book it was, but ash uploaded a copy or partition of himself into the Narcissus computer as a backup plan incase he was destroyed, and activily kept Ripley out of range of being found until his files became corrupted or something. I suppose they could work around that idea, but Muther seems an easier explanation.
There's that one book where Ripley get's found before the 2nd movie, Ash is there as well.

If you've ever read the books to do with alien, there's a book called out of the shadows, we're Ashes, put himself into the computer of the narcissis.
It's called out of the shadows, it's on audible.
They may be using that as part of the cannon, of how Wayland new about That alien being blown out of the airlock

Im guessing weyland corp finds ripley and the narcaccist, keeps the ship and ripley at the romulus station, keeping her in cryo sleep. Big chap is most likely still attached to grappling hook. And that scene in trailer where it looks like narcassist floating under romulus while breaking up in orbit is probably end of the movie and where ripley got set adrift again. Also, In beginning of aliens when they cut narcaccist door open, you can see grappling gun still stuck in bottom of door, so fair to say it was never opened before being cut open

@@darhammora7867 Alien3 gets a bad rap, this was is due to the failures at fox and David Fincher getting so frustrated with their interference that he walked away before the editing was completed (It was his first motion picture and Fox tortured him for this). the directors cut is good, the film score is amazing, the cinematography is epic it was failed by the production company. I do generally love Alien3 and the Xeno in it is one of my favourites. Alien resurrection is just bollox plain and simple, doesn't exist in my book.... :)
Didn't Ripley leave a log at the end of Alien? Maybe Weyland picked up that information and knew her coordinates where it was last left, Even though they do find her, they find Big Chap. Remember in Alien, they said that the crew members were expendable so why would they look for Ellen if they found Big Chap Years before a salvage crew finds Ellen.
What if the narcissus is on the romulus station the whole time during the film with Ellen inside it and due to the events of the film it ends up adrift?
Could Hadley's Hope be where the Nostromo cre landed? Ash cpuld have sent back those coordiates but not the Alien ahips location

Nah, he's dead and fossilised. There are other things to suggest that happens at the end. But I know for a fact that big chap is dead and only tested on in romulus.

So I saw this last night and I'm still not convinced. Ok I can buy that maybe, maybe the black box survived from the nostromo and maybe somehow it made its way to the company, but how on earth did they know where the alien was? the liferaft hadn't been found by that point. It's very flimsy if you ask me. convenient in the way sequel prequel... what even is this thing :) but yeah convenient in the way these things are. OK the alien is tough but come on it climbed into a thrustor and she burned it to bits. You really gonna tell me that thing survived when pulse rifle shots can blow it apart? and please please explain to me, how could it make a friggin asteroid caccoon around its body? where did the material come from? are there lots of things for Chappy to eat in space? nom nom nom, must eat some more, we need this big comfy ball to be at least 5m wider. Not a great film IMHO.

I watched Aliens aged 11 in 1990. Alien a few months after. I was pretty confident, aged 12, that Weyland Yutani have people with a limited knowledge of LV426, and that Ash's mission failed.
The parole board, Van Leuwen, are just suits that do not know. I don't actually believe Burke 'knows' that Ripley's story is true until he arrives on LV426. I believe he acts out of self-interest because he sees a promotion or blg bucks.
Why would he tell Ripley he thought she would be smarter when he gets caught out???
Van leuwens line about "20 Families" would be moustache twirlingly evil with hindsight 😅
It's clear in Alien 3 that extra information is received by Weyland Yutani about the creature.
That's why they now send a fully equipped containment team, and don't even lie about their motives.
All for 1 creature, and a possible Queen embryo.
If they know why, wouldn't they just keep the fully bedded in, up to speed, Hive at Hadleys hope.
Also, if Ash is communicating back, the very first data would be the exact coordinates for the derelict. Muther will have the Nostromos exact landing position. They had a distance and bearing to the beacon.
It wouldn't take 20 years to come across the derelict coincidently days after Ripley gives up that info.
Burke sends them there to literally check it out. Causing the whole situation. Yes, Weyland at the higher level knowingly marked LV426 for terraforming. Doesn't mean everyone knows the whole evil mega plan.
Why they didn’t search for the Protomorph Daniels ejected from the Covenant ship on orbit of Planet 4 based on David file?! Or David didn’t tell them about this details

The only way he could make it work is if he adds a scene to Alien where Ripley discovers what MU/TH/UR was transmitting and shuts the AI down. But that would be directly altering canon in order to fit Alien Romulus into established canon
It could be Ash. He could of past his consciousness into MUTHUR and that then programmed into an Android subject on ROMULUS

"The Company" or WeYu is the real antagonist here. Earth probably looks like a sh!thole just like any other planets thats not freshly terraformed by them. I really hope that we will not have to experience something like that. Just look at Samsung for example and how much power they own in SK...

Ash could of transmitted that to Network before the tranmitter on the shuttle was damaged / stopped working. As in the book it states the shuttle was lurking in that area of space looking for an opertunaty to get another specamin. Ash was final killed off in that book, before the ship / station was destroyed. There could be a version of Ash in the film as here sent a copy of his program back to WaYu.

I’m still wondering how the original alien survived. Yes Ripley blew the alien out of the airlock, but then it crawled up into one of the thrusters. Ripley saw this, and ignited the thrusters. I don’t remember (in the movie) it just getting launched into space. I’m not a big lord person, so could someone explain how it survived being torched? Is it further explained in a novel?
Well the runner survived the heat of hot lead in A3, it only blew when being cooled rapidly.....
Personally, bringing back big chap is a flaw, there is everything you need on LV426........
If Alien Isolation is accepted canon, that's awesome. It leaves me with the question though of how do they manage Amanda for the rest of her life? Like how do they keep her quiet? Or even worse, was the story Burke gives Ripley in Aliens a total lie? They're evil enough.
Could of told her anything - lost in space or missing until proven otherwise and quite happy for her to drift right through the core systems for 57 years until blind luck “stumble” upon her to coincide with Hadleys hope incident and then gauge her knowledge or makes me ask the question was she really ever needed for her expertise now because it seems they had enough knowledge to make Romulus station / build hadleys hope (as a breeding ground) so maybe them stumbling upon was blind luck or they actually needed her experience of the alien

In one of the Alien books by Titan, Out of the Shadows, Ash transfered his conciousness into the shuttle and guided Ripley's shuttle through the system to avoid being picked up. He was in contact with WY the entire time during that journey. These books from Titan have been confirmed to be canon, though this one was not my favorite as it did the whole 'character mind wipe' thing at the end, which I just hate.
Wouldn't surprise me if Ripley was lost for 57 years due to a navigation update data package sent to the shuttle.

that's a very interesting thought about Muthur beingon the narcissis
They (WY) knew about the Xenomorph prior to Ash being assigned to the Nostramo.... while the Prometheus Extra indicated knowledge of something on LV-426, this is something that is not 100% Canon unless a Movie backs it up. So it could be they knew about the Xenomorph prior to ALIEN yes.. but this does not mean that the Derelict had been on LV-426 prior to Prometheus.
The revelation here in Romulus does appear that the company was given information from the Narcisis ...
It is likely that the A.I has sent the information from the Narcisis... and so yeah MUTUR or Ash conciouness. That makes sense
The Thetis scenario seems plausible. A lot of the "Weyland knew this" is based off non-movie ideas, and I haven't seen Alvarez say he was incorporating those as cannon and I don't see him retconning any of Cameron's ideas. The entire story structure of Romulus is a slasher movie so I'd bet he held to those principles and Ash is the big evil at work behind the monster. My gut says Ash will connect to David's work and that's why Ridley was in full support. It would also keep Weyland separated which is how the series was created

In Alien Out of the Shadows Ash survives as a form of AI on the shuttle. Maybe it was an audio signal from Ash's AI?

I think Ash’s AI is going to be downloaded to Andy when you see him are-Booting and his eyes roll back. I think he will then turn on the crew like Ash did.
I just can’t help but think about the Story of Romulus and Remus and the betrayal of the Brother leading to the Sisters death.

My theory is that it's because the Nostromo were being followed by a Company ship so they could stay in contact with Ash and MUTHUR. I remember in Aliens it took two weeks total for a transmission to go back and fourth from Earth so it probably took even longer in 2122. They had to remain in a closer distance for Ash to send the information he gathered on the crew, the creature, its lifecycle, and whatever else in case something happened like we saw in Alien. They must have known about the Derelict from another ship that landed there, sent a transmission, and then disappeared never to be found. They just wanted to ensure the safe return of a specimen this time to which they almost failed... until they saw the lifeboat escape. Like you said MUTHUR(or even Ash) was onboard the shuttle and notified the trailing spacecraft of the events that transpired. So all they had to do was retrieve the "body" from space. Then they just allowed Ripley to drift away... No witnesses, Crew expendable.
Maybe the alien was still on the harpoon wire in tow of the narcissist..

They did a similar plot with Ash as the AI in the Narcissist in an audio book.

You forget that weyland set up a coloney on lv426 way before ripley was found.
I reckon we'll see an ASH type android in Alien Romulus... so looking forward to seeing the film. The bottom line is that Weyland-Yutani knew about the Xenomorph after the events of ALIEN and of course also knew about the existence of the Xenos via David. So knowing that the Nostromo disappeared after not returning to Earth - why didn't the company send a scientific expedition to LV426? Now looking at the footage of the ringed planet shown in the trailers for AR is that the Gas giant seen in Alien, so LV426 is orbiting it and so must be the planet the young crew escape from to go to the space station? Hopefully all will be revealed...
I’m not surprised in the slightest that weyland-yutani has information about the xenomorphs. The ship might have “corrupted” data but an escape pod could be designed as an isolated backup server. Also I don’t have to tell the crew everything.
I really, really like the Thedes theory with Ash here! It really connects so many dots while still providing a new angle, which should always be the main goal for any continuation of a story. But there is a sad /ironic twist to the very name Thedes, though. For any first time viewers of the first Alien, present & in the future, it very much depends on which VERSION of Alien you actually watch to get this info! In the original theatrical version we have Dallas & Ripley talking about leaving Thedes & that Ash was replaced just prior to their departure. BUT those lines are MISSING (very stupidly!!!) in the director's cut of Alien! We very long-time fans have seen all versions & gathered all the info needed if this is part of Romulus. But anyone out there that may only know of the Director's Cut version will actually go in with less info in the trunk. If this is the case I hope Romulus gives proper explanation, perhaps even repeats a version of the dialogue between Ripley & Dallas telling the audience the same thing again, to bridge this ironic problem.
If you have read or listened to Alien: Out of the Shadows, you'll know that Ash downloaded his consciousness into the Narcissus and he did a couple of things. 1 he changed the course of the Narcissus so that it went to the mining vessel orbiting LV-178 which ended up having a xenomorph outbreak. 2 he was trying to send reports to WY and had a chance to access the transmitter on the mining vessel.
By the way, Ripley doesnt remember the LV-178 incident due to having a technique done on her that removed the trauma. Also, Ash's consciousness was purged from the Narcissus system.
Of course Weyland Yutani knew. They always knew.
I bet they have the recovered Narcissus docked at the station with Ripley still in Hyper-sleep (the salvage team in Aliens had to laser cut through the door because it was jammed shut from the harpoon gun stuck at the bottom), and it gets blown out into space in that big explosion in the trailer. They still could have recovered and then deleted her last log entries, which would have included blowing the Alien out and the approximate location when it was recorded
It stokes the paranoia except when you consider the speed of light... these distances are vast equivalent of huge delays in receipt and how about transmitter power...?
I keep telling everyone this. Ash uploaded himself into the Narcissus computer system and was reporting everything back he evan tried to sabotage the shuttle, which is why Ripley is adrift for atrue story in science fiction 😂💯

Ridley Scott need to come back and do a sequel to Covenant and direct prequel to alien to tie up the storylines.

Like reality cameras are everywhere now connected by WiFi. And look what AI can do right now. Satellites communication Weyland owns the ships very expensive. Of course they want all info relay back to them. Nothing is private when you work. Another good example is Space Odyssey 2001. MUTHER like HAL
My theory is that Ash knew about the purpose of the facehugger and reported his studies to the company via MU/TH/UR. After all, when asked by Ripley about his progress (after Dallas was captured by the Alien), thinking about useful strategies to kill the beast, he responds that he and MU/TH/UR are still processing the data. If the company didn't know that there was an Alien species on LV426 before the Nostromo crew landed, it's very likely that special order 937 "crew expandable" was given as reponse to Ash's reports. That doesn't mean that the company didn't know at all about the xenomorph (although, it's still questionable if David reported anything due to his contempt for the human race). Ash was very spontaneously assigned to the Nostromo a few days before flying to Thedes. Dallas explains that he had to except it because of new company policies. Ash explains that there's a clause in each employer's contract, which states that every sign of intelligent life must be further investigated (otherwise there'll be penalties). To enforce that the company assigns synthetics to all missions without further explanations.
I've always had this theory every since Prometheus that when Weyland is killed by the engineer, he had strict instructions for M.U.T.H.U.R on what the next steps should be if he dies. So upon his death M.U.T.H.U.R enacted special order 937 to retrieve the engineer to possibly resurrect him. M.U.T.H.U.R as a log of transmission from the juggernaut ship, so its constantly looking for signals that are a match or close match. If it finds a ping, then instructions are sent to a synthetic on the closest ship to investigate. It thinks its finding engineers, but we know thats not the case. When you think about the Alien timeline and the years that past between each film, anyone that was a big wig in the Company is either retired before the next event, died, or just doesn't work there; except for Alien 3 with human Bishop. But really its just M.U.T.H.U.R doing what it was told.
Weyland-Yutani Report said the whole Nostomo and LV-426 thing was gone from the records by Hadley's Hope, I think suggested that the wrongdoers deleted info to cover their tracks.
The more you think about it, the more it all collapses: if they sent Ash on the mission, they knew there was something there on LV-426. They could have gone there at any time, scanned the planet. Found it. Even if it took a few years, they'd find it. Come on, they're terrific movies but it doesn't make sense. They'd find it with a drone in a day.
I always thought it was marlow that corrupted the flight recorder to prevent anyone from finding the ship.
The idea that someone working for WY corrupting the flight recorder or mother on directives from WY is interesting. We have to assume that when found, WY would have to hand the flight recorder to the ICC for the investigation. Meaning that it would expose WY for having known of the transmission and having sent the crew, and exposing the 937 directive condemning the crew. Which then expose them to lawsuits, share crashes and all the nasty.
Alien: out of the shadows was set in 2159. It explains how Ash survives. Unfortunately Romulus is set 2142, but imaging if the Narssisas is at Romulus and then is sent on its merry way after the movie….
But this is part of a remember berry, in parts to connect the Plot to Alien etc.
Because I can't see why Alvarez never had it that the Romulus Scientists etc, never obtained the Specimen from LV-426 or Planet 4 etc

Its his transcripts that are sent back ,, probably when this android gets downloaded he can speak as ash ... i think there is ramifications that they knew this before aliens .... however , growing up as a young lad .. my uncle had a book where it talked everything aliens and they speculated when ripley hit the engines to blow the big chap out , it changes the course and auto pilot if you will .. i think they would of wanted ripley and the ship to look over every thing ... of course they can change what they want with an insert movie .. however , the real mind boggling part is , why obssess looking for big chap endlessly if they knew about the direlect ship and on LV 426 they would of known ...
