  • When he was just 15 years old, Jason Wang was arrested for aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, which saw him sent to prison for 12 years.
Out of prison, Wang initially struggled to find work, and he wasn’t alone. Of the 77 million people in the US who have been incarcerated, well over half - 63% - are unemployed the first year out. The average salary of those who have been incarcerated is $11,000 a year.
It is a struggle Wang is trying to help others avoid as founder and CEO of FreeWorld, a nonprofit that wants to end recidivism and generational poverty by helping ex-cons find work as truck drivers. FreeWorld wants to ensure people released from prison no longer need to navigate that journey alone.

I’m living proof and a example of FreeWorld. My life has never been better “I’m richer than I ever been!”

This is so neat. So glad that this guy is willing to help others who have been to prison. What an awesome idea to show them that they are not alone and have the abilities to get a job and have stability.

I have not been to prison but I was in jail before, and now I'm a retired Master of HVAC Technician and the job is very rewarding financially and mentally,I really appreciate that you don't have a limited life with family and friends and employers who respect you for your job performance.im retired and enjoying myself with family.

I work for a non profit providing government funding to offenders for training and much more. Our #1 training providers are the trucking schools. Offenders ABSOLUTELY DO have access to education IN THE US. They have equal opportunity but they made a horrible decision and were caught and convicted- they are guilty of a crime and your choices should be your burden, not the communities that you victimized.

Look at the driver turnover rate in the trucking industry. This is just a ruse to get cheap meat in the seat.
