BGStats added in BGA play logging, so Chris's chart has a lot of imported online plays. I think that makes Wyrmspan more impressive, as there is no digital version.
There is also Wurfel Bohnanza, a dice game based on the card game, or at least onq the art. It is totally different, but a wonderful, fun dice game! Got mine off of Amazon. I don't know if it's still available, but it's worth a little research!!
Do you have the link to that infographic on BGG? The numbers aren’t making sense to me for the entire year because The Brothers Murph do a monthly list and these numbers seem to be in line with a single month rather than the entire year.
Here ya go! That's interesting, I'd be curious to hear if you find out something different! boardgamegeek.com/blog/1412/blogpost/168110/most-popular-games-published-in-2024
@@thedicetower So this graphic is actually showing the number of unique BGG users who logged their plays and not the total number of plays actually logged. The Brothers Murph do a top 10 of total logged plays. I'd be curious to see this graphic for actual games played and not unique users.
17:46 Please tell me you don't actually think the definition of the world "algorithm" is "a web page that recommends content to users based on previously-viewed content". You're too old to think that, right? It's a Computer Science term with a broad relevance, and doesn't just mean the thing that UA-camrs assess when they try to maximize view count for their videos.
Yes, I am aware of that. That's a pretty bold assumption to jump to when I said that somebody reworked the algorithm BGG uses to try to predict similar games. Maybe you didn't mean to sound really condescending, but that's how it came across. -Chris
Happy New Year from Estonia! Keep up the great work. :)
Eric pronounced my name correctly.

I appreciate Chris busting out a "Boy, howdy!"
Merchant of Venus reference incoming!
An electronic game... Like Real Talking Battleship?

Thanks for the clarification! I guess I did misspeak about it. That is a different data set and I'd be curious to see that as well!
Great, another peglin enjoyer, now try dungeon clawler !
Ahh yes. I was trying to remember Dungeon Clawler's name. Definitely reminded me of that. Both are groovy. Not sure which one I dig more. -Chris
Bohnanza?! 0/10 from me. Tried it 3x and some of the worst gaming experiences I've had.
It’s the best, most synthesized trading game out there. Maybe you don’t like trading/negotiation?

I have no idea how the conclusion from this is that Chris thinks an algorithm is a page......
@@thedicetower I played a stupid game, and I won a stupid prize- thanks for keeping my ego in check!
