Lovely, lovely game. Great playthrough, guys! I gotta table my KS deluxe copy, haven't had a chance to play it yet... You're welcome to film another one of these, love watching you play together. :)
Great playthrough, as usual! Thank you for that. I just wish you had shapeshifted more often, just for the fun to see it happen, but also to see how you would have handled the timing of when to do this. The tricky part actually comes in when you play it as per the rules and only take your action cards back when you shapeshift, not between rounds. I found this to be quite a puzzle. At 1:28:40 Monique leaves her two loyal citizens in the chamber (instead of returning them to the supply) because of summer. The whole point of this is so that those loyal citizens will count towords the scoring when you calculate how many loyal citizens you have left in the chamber OR the crowd (according to my German Rules book, both count!). So Monique would have scored 7 instead of 3 and actually won the game. But who knows, with so many things to keep track of... I think Naveen also would have gained at least one more ingredient through his Randall action at one point. Anyway, thanks for doing this! I think I will also add the omens expansion next time, now that I've had the chance to see it in action. Any thoughts on the solo mode though? I found it very challenging, as the Black Widow kept snatching up all the sick patients right from under my nose before I could heal them and still won the trials effortlessly.
56:14 : Naveen move the wrong hunter, Ref from the rulebook - if your zone's hut is empty case, you must find the first Zone in counterclockwise order that has an Active Hunter in it. Move that Hunter to the Hut of the Zone you are in, and set it Inactive until the end of this step (so it cannot move twice in this step).
This game is gorgeous, and the teach + playthrough flowed well and was easy to follow. Can't wait for my copy! Hopefully we can get a review / final thoughts from you guys after a few plays.
@@BeforeYouPlay I see! Not a big deal, really looked forward to this playthrough and you guys did not disappoint ;) hopefully I’ll see you at PAX-U! :)
surely the witches who fail trial get burned at the stake??? so looking forward to playing this, just received the deluxe box yesterday. thanks for the playthrough!
Learning this game thanks to your video. After playing a few rounds myself, I found the witch hunters not too threatening. Seems to me it would be more fun if the witch hunters stayed out in the forest instead of returning to their huts. Great game though, very complex in a good way
Thanks for the video! What did you guys think of the game? The art is absolutely gorgeous, probably one of my all-time favorites. But the gameplay feels kind of dry to me. I really want to like the game, but for some reason I fail to see any significant meaning to my actions. They seem linear and with so much rules, table presence and iconography, one would expect the depth of the game to be huge, which I don't think its the case here. Am I missing something? I will admit I didn't watch the whole playthrough.
For me, depth = replayability. For what you described, this game seems to have a lot of width (complexity) but no depth. A lot of other games have much simpler rules with a lot more replayability (non-linear). Again, we all have different tastes. @@Wylie288

This is the same experience I had when I tried the base game in Essen. The production is amazing, but the game It is way too complicated for what it tries to do, it could be simpler and a smaller game and it would improve a lot.
We had a side discussion about this off screen and couldn't figure out how to resolve this. The citizens at the end of the game that remain in the pool are technically not in your supply, which is the technical verbiage of the spell. Hope that makes sense!
What is with the moon phase icons? IV looks really weird, kind of like a partial lunar eclipse, and not any phase of the moon you would ever see in the sky. Also why are there only waxing phases and then skips half of the cycle past waning - going straight from full moon to new moon?
So I am wondering about the details on practical potion usage. There was a part where a flying potion was played to move the witch in range of two patients to then heal them with the heal action card but in the rules it states that a practical potion is used immediately after quick move and phase B. I cannot find any other clarifications or even examples in the rule book so I am wondering if that was an invalid action or if you can use a practical potion just before you resolve a card action?
Potential rules mistake: you say that when you play an action that matches one of the next symbols on the ritual board you can advance, but I believe it also needs to match with another play/septima. Let me know I'm misunderstanding.
You actually assess counter-clockwise when figuring out which hunter moves, and that hunter moves clockwise into the hut that is in your zone. Hope that makes sense!
Ahhh, that makes sense. I’m enjoying your video on Septima and I look forward to playing my copy. I also like Naveen’s shirt “worship coffee”. Cheers 🍻
i thought the played cards were supposed to be secret and played face down to be revealed simultaniously? totally defeats the purpose if you colaborate with the other player on which cards you are both going to play
From the rulebook: "Each player secretly and simultaneously selects one Action card from their hand and places it face down in front of them. Players are allowed to openly disucss what Action they intend to select, but there is no requirement for them to tell the truth."
do more of these old stuff like before ... we loved this channel for these gameplays not other stuffs ... i know ur a proffesional utuber now but try do these more often ❣
I regret not backing this. looks amazing!
SO excited for this replay!
Thanks for the excellent playthrough! Looking forward to this one! I love the art and the theme. Have a great day you two!

This game looks so fun. I hope you maybe do a solo play through as that's how I learn how to play most games. Love your channel!❤

Always a pleasure watching your playthroughs! What a close game :)
Just got finished organizing my Deluxe version yesterday! Can't wait to dig in to this one
Ah finally the video i was wishing for ♥
Thank you for all your content. I value this channel above others, in fact I only visit this one since discovering it.
Great play through. I got a deluxe computer but only managed to start playing it 2 months ago and haven’t stopped
Perfect timing! Mine just came in!
YEEEEE!

Rules mistake: at 56:11 you should have moved the first active hunter that is in counterclockwise direction in clockwise direction.
I've just posted the same ;-)
I think you are not supposed to take your cards back from the discard pile at the end of each season if playing with the shapeshifter module
Yeah you are totally right! We had a gameplay error there and added a subtitle and notation in the description of the video. 😔
@@BeforeYouPlay I see! Not a big deal, really looked forward to this playthrough and you guys did not disappoint ;) hopefully I’ll see you at PAX-U! :)
I think at 1:20:50 Monique could have moved up the ritual board to get 2 more points! Could have been 110/110 scoring
And at 1:23:40 Monique got 4 more wisdom because the two loyal citizen at the trial counts too.
This was a great video! Only thing i noticed was with the Ritual action. I believe you have to move up AND adjacent
I hope i get mine soon, this video really make me want to play ! the expansion add a lot of interesting things.

complexity and depth generally are opposites. In fact, complexity, aka, having more things is arguably just width most of the time.

Hello, can I use crystals to replacing some ingredients to create potions?
This game seems very cool
Thanks for checking it out!
Loved the gameplay. Really excited for this game. How can I buy it?
Didn’t Monique cast a spell that made it so she didn’t need to leave the two meeples in the trial area? Would that mean she won?

28:40 I believe the angry citizens that WERE part of the trail are NOT returned to the crowd. I might be mistaken. :)
Oh you guys removed them off screen. My mistake :)

At 11:06, Monique said she will move the Witch Hunter anti clockwise but moved the Witch Hunter clockwise, the wrong way!

On the final scoring card, "count the Loyal Citizens in the Crowd and Trial Chambers." Is that just a typo on the scoring card?
no, they did it wrong in that part
So, is it too late to buy the deluxe version?
so close good game
1:23:45 I believe the loyal citizens in the trial chambers are counted too = that’s +4 wisdom for Monique 🎉
