Honestly, the ending to Saw is one of my favorite endings to a horror movie ever. I had no clue that twist was coming, and it stuck with me for a really long time.
Totally. So much so that I don’t even pay too much attention to the fact that there was actually no reason for him to just lay there and pretend dead the entire movie. Lol
I remember being so mind blown as a 12 year old with the twist at the end. The movie did such a good job making you sympathize with both guys in the room you root for them so much at the end and they dont really win even though they've gone through so much it's such a dark but great ending. And the emotion when dr Gordon is telling adam hes gonna go get help but adam is saying dont leave me really makes me feel for both them. For a low budget movie they really made it work they had such a great vision.
Indeimaus yeah, first Saw was great,...never 'saw' that final twist coming! Second one was okay but third Saw made me feel sick. Caught up with the rest on DVD but they were gore-bage.
@@g-h-l The twist WAS bullshit. Lmao, it took them till the third movie to "explain" how a man dying of cancer could stay perfectly still in a smelly old bathroom on hard cold concrete, not visibly breathing, moving or making a single sound for what? 10 hours straight? Then standing up and walking off easily? Clearly some people have no clue, try staying still for an hour like that. Some of y'all are just really easily impressed. The first movie was a good movie, ignoring the plot holes and horrible acting all around. Everything after that is complete and utter garbage. Objectively.
Yeah dude, people are stupid, boring and simple. Choose wisely when you make friends. It's not a huge problem, because individuals are smart, but masses are idiotic. If you went to see 2049, then you are lucky! Don't let it tear your apart, Lisa!

One is a self-contained film, the other is a sequel to a movie which is decades old now and people aren't sure if they need to watch the first one before it (since not everyone's seen the original yet). Look at the comment section for Chris's review--there are loads of people either asking if they need to see the original one to understand the new BR or just deciding they want to watch both back to back. Wait for home video sales.
Augustin Adrian Cristea, get your head out of your ass. People aren't stupid just because they've made a movie that you don't like become a bigger hit than a movie you did. The first Saw and even the second one were actually pretty damn good. Like sure it was gory, but like Chris says, the game* had an underlying point to each of the sections that could either break / develop the character in question. Super nice haha.
Saw and Saw II was fresh and really interesting... But after that... from 3 and forward it was all for the torture-porn... I dont like it at all... The story became boring for every new film... It felt like money grabbing garbage.
3 is my favorite. Cant stand the green filter in 2. Love the franchise even, save 7. But I also agree with you. But the story is actually why I kept watching. The gore was a plus. I'm one who's favorite films are in the vein Seven samurai, Marketa Lazarova, Maltese Falcon, Vampire Hunter D, Lang's Metropolis, and so on. Idk. They arent amazing but there are so many worse films out there.
@@Dravianpn02 When you watch them as one, it becomes like the most violent soap opera/ cop drama you've ever seen imo. Plus, I'm a horror nerd and the only scene that truly makes me cringe is from a Saw movie, so have to give it kudos for that tbh.
Spoiler: When I first saw the first saw and I looked away when I saw Dr Gordon saw his own leg with a saw. I also saw the part where Saw stands up and saw Adam did not manage to saw his own leg with a saw and saw Dr Gordon sawed his leg with a saw. He then left the room and closed the door, that was the last time Adam saw Saw. Saw then saw Dr Gordon's sawed leg and Saw said "congratulations".

What I love about the first one, it isn’t just bloody traps and gross stuff, it was a mystery and not a lot of violence, you actually didn’t go to the movie just too see blood and guts. You actually wanted to find out who’s doing it to these people, in the sequels you don’t give a shit
Love when Matt is on, always like your banter. Matt: you should do more of the background knowledge of the movies you talk about with Chris: like your Aliens 3 review. LOVE that clip, and so interesting!
The first Saw and 6 are the best ones in my eyes. Both of them actually make legitimate points about society, the first reflects the overall concept of not thinking about consequences of your actions and that you should appreciate the life that you have instead of wasting it away. Saw 6 on the other hand makes a great point about the healthcare system in America, insurance policies getting in the way of people needing help and not giving people any help when they need it just because insurance policies tell them not to. It’s a point that’s been done before but not to an extent that it is in Saw 6 where people die in such explicit ways because of it. I’m surprised Chris and the other guy didn’t mention it at all as being different from the rest, all the Saw films are about people being tortured and choosing their own fate, in other words they have to follow strict rules that involve torturing themselves and then they’re promised they will live, Saw 6 is the only one that disregards that rule and is about a person essentially doing his job of choosing people on who deserves to live and who deserves to die. Saw 6 and the first Saw are genuinely good movies and Saw 6 especially deserves more attention than just being bungled together with the other sequels, of which have varying degrees of quality. I think Saw 2 also deserves some credit for trying to be different than the first and offering a great twist at the end with the video tape, something that is virtually unheard of in the horror film genre where sequels may as well be the first movie played back.
TheHitherto It would certainly be better for you to understand 6 if you watched 4-5 but I don’t think it’s overall necessary, especially when in my opinion 4 & 5 are the worst in the series, I’d say just go on Wikipedia and read the plot summary, it’ll save you the time of watching them but will make you understand who the characters are and what’s been happening.
I rewatched all of the films lately, and i really think its a great series overall. I dont really watch it like "yay some torture porn" but i like the whole thriller cop/killer-aspect of it, especially the later movies with John VS bad apprentices and everything with Hoffman it was so good. Its one of my favourite movieseries (except the 2 new ones, they are not that good imo)
Saw is my inspiration to being an SFX makeup artist. Im pretty sure they used all practical effects and it makes me so happy. I love looking st their makeup and thinking "they couldve used a bit kore liquid latex" or "hey, ive never thought about using 3rd degree like that" and it just keep inspiring me to play around with my kit and try new things
Nicholas Borg just different people. I’m more cold natured and always have something extra on whilst some of my friends don’t need a jacket when it’s 50 degrees out
Nicholas Borg “style” trumps comfort or practicality. Odd, I know. One has to wonder what someone thinks as they make that choice, look in the mirror, and exit their house.
Saw is awesome, Saw 2 was great but I feel like Saw 3 gets a bad rap, it has the best climax and twists were so good, it ended three arcs started in the original and showed why for some reason, the traps were "unbeatable." loved that film. I even think the first Hostel was really good but Hostel 2 IMHO was more torture porn than any of the Saw films except the last one for that bathtub scene alone. I agree with Matthew, that "Hello Zepp" theme never gets old, anytime that theme plays and they reveal everything, always gives me chills. I think 1 & 3 had the best endings but i wonder who will be behind these new Jigsaw games in Jigsaw. I hope Chris continues reviewing the Saw series and review Stephen King's Storm of the Century! So underrated!
Dixie Normas just shut the fuck up. A true horror movie fan would not call The Exorcist "garbage". Yes i admit it's out dated but the impact it left in the horror movie industry is something to be recognize and appreciate it. And that's why I call it a classic.
Lost my watch at a party once. Saw a guy stepping on it while sexually harassing a girl. I walked up to the dude, punched him straight in the nose. No one does that to a girl, not on my watch.
What is crazy is that when this movie came out I was in my late 20s, about 28, and when I was buying the movie tickets I actually got carded for them. It was the first and only time in my life I had ever been carded for movie tickets
I watched the very first Saw on the first Friday it was in theaters with a bunch of friends in college. The twist blew me away. Didn't see it coming at all.
Can't you get both him and yourself inside one frame and don't have camera jumping every time one of you say a word? It's very annoying to watch, it's like neither of you were talking to each other and entire interview is made of cuts. Thank you.
I thought it was good because in the saw movie they would cut between the two main characters, zepp and gordon and it kinda mirrors that, dont know if its on purpose though.
You are probably right, but they sit 3 ft away from each other and in some parts of video camera switching happens every 1-2 seconds and it gets irritating rather quickly.
Saw is one of my favorite movie series of all time - the concept is fucking insanely cool - the plot twists are insane -They're made so shittily so its hilarious p.s. I recommend looking up the fib agents interrogation scene one of the funniest things of all time
Hey Chris! Couldn’t help but notice your NECA Halloween “night he came home” boxed set Loomis and Michael figures on the shelf behind your friend. Just wondered where you got it, and what you gave for it (I’ve been wanting to get one and I know they are hard to find).
Chris you are the best UA-camr movie reviewer out there! So glad you've stuck with it. I don't even bother with looking at Rotten Tomatoes anymore. Please review my favorite 80's horrow movie " A Nightmare On Elm Street". (The first one. I also love the third one).
It's a shame that the first Saw movie, and even 2 and 3, gets lumped in with the later sequels. The first Saw movie is very psychological and character driven. And even though 2 and 3 amped up the violence and gore, I still think they had a good level of suspense and character. In my opinion, the series went to shit after 3.
Saw its my favorite horror thriller, even if its low budget and some of the performances are sort of bad i cant help but loving the concept and the psychological aspect of the film.
I agree that the “less is more” approach to the gore worked very strongly. I wouldn’t even mind the occasional graphic, fully in frame gruesome shot in the sequels if they didn’t do it all the fucking time.
I just watched it for the first time in years. Shocked how well it holds up. Don’t get me wrong, it is very obvious this film didn’t have a high budget, but they worked with what they had and made a fantastic movie. I would give it an A.
You poor thing! I saw it when it first came out too. I still don’t understand why the Leigh Whannell character was being punished by Jigsaw though. What did he do?
If you haven't yet, definitely do a review foe The Loved Ones. I feel that far too few people have heard of this gem of a film, and I know your review will help broaden it's audience. Another great review as always.
My favorite torture flick is the emoji movie.
You're a brave soul
Not going to watch it. I mean, Hostel, Saw and Serbian Film are one thing, but that one went too far if you ask me.
I actually didn't mind that movie. A lot better than recent Illumination movies or even Transformers 4 & 5 tbh.

You are probably right, but they sit 3 ft away from each other and in some parts of video camera switching happens every 1-2 seconds and it gets irritating rather quickly.
yeah i feel ya
Saw is one of my favorite movie series of all time
- the concept is fucking insanely cool
- the plot twists are insane
-They're made so shittily so its hilarious
p.s. I recommend looking up the fib agents interrogation scene one of the funniest things of all time
I can't remember if I seen "saw" or did I saw "saw" when I seen "saw" back when I "Saw" it.
What a second, "It" wasn't out then.
I don't feel so good.
Hey Chris! Couldn’t help but notice your NECA Halloween “night he came home” boxed set Loomis and Michael figures on the shelf behind your friend. Just wondered where you got it, and what you gave for it (I’ve been wanting to get one and I know they are hard to find).
Review The Wailing (Gok-seong) Chris.
ahmed el-kashef that was a great movie
My favorite movie in 2016
Great review and conversation guys. The score Hello Zepp is really really awesome, as pointed out my Matt. I listen to it on repeat many times!
Do 1922 on Netflix
Would love to hear your review of "The Mist".
When I first saw Saw, I saw a saw saw off a man's foot. I was like....what did I just saw? 🤔
"Break the rules or try to leave, you die like in... *BURPS*.... SAAAAAAW!"
Saw its my favorite horror thriller, even if its low budget and some of the performances are sort of bad i cant help but loving the concept and the psychological aspect of the film.
I ain't late for a Chris Stuckmann video! :D
Please do the in-depth analysis of the movie "the neon demon 2016"
Please
I saw a Saw too, then I saw a Saw 2, and then I saw the rest of them
Nice edgy comment!
Thanks, by the way your name is awesome :)
Thank you. :)
Ha! Classic. Comedy.
I agree that the “less is more” approach to the gore worked very strongly. I wouldn’t even mind the occasional graphic, fully in frame gruesome shot in the sequels if they didn’t do it all the fucking time.
1 down 7 to go. LET THE GAME BEGIN!
Can you do one with Matthew Brando when you talk about event horizon? (or have you done that?) Keep up the good work!
I guess you could say we just "Saw" this video! *Btm Pss* ... *Cricket Noise*...
Drinking Game: Take a shot every time they say Saw in this video
Daniel Attrell I died from alcohol poisoning. Thanks a lot.
Did you actually die?
james wan and leigh whannel!! Aussie Pride 🇦🇺
James scored a big Wan again this year with Aquaman.
Chris answered my review request!😍 I feel Stuckmannized
Stuckman nice pick out for the camera representation for the character! That is literally genius.
JUN TAO!
LMAO! That shit caught me off guard! LOL
Please Review Scream!
I love the laugh that Matt always does whenever Chris says something pretty hilarious.
1922 coming soon?
Doobly Wooblly nah man 1941
The collector and the collection are awesome. Hostel 1&2 were awesome. Dont get reality twisted.
Watched the movie 2 days back and I really loved it. The story is phenominal.
How about the other ones?
Chris, where's the Battle of the Sexes review? I'd love to hear your opinion plus it's give this really good movie more publicity so please.
I always thought the term "torture porn" referred to 50 Shades of Grey.
Your Halloween Special intro is *quality*. Love it.
I’ve been waiting for this for so long
I just watched it for the first time in years. Shocked how well it holds up. Don’t get me wrong, it is very obvious this film didn’t have a high budget, but they worked with what they had and made a fantastic movie. I would give it an A.
Evil dead Next hmmmmmmmm........
Well If You Do Please Do Army of Darkness
He should cover the whole trilogy, at least the 1st 2!
Friendship ended with The Flick Pick
Now Matt is my best friend.
I first saw this movie when I was 13. I had to step outside and I almost threw up.
You poor thing! I saw it when it first came out too. I still don’t understand why the Leigh Whannell character was being punished by Jigsaw though. What did he do?
Are you planning to do MindHunter from David fincher?

Revolver Ocelot: Pretty...good
If you haven't yet, definitely do a review foe The Loved Ones. I feel that far too few people have heard of this gem of a film, and I know your review will help broaden it's audience. Another great review as always.
Review The exorcist with the flick pick!!!
