My favorite two suggestions were the shop vac and the collapse latter. I appreciate you acknowledging and congratulating when someone has reach home ownership. It is a big deal! I look forward to achieving that myself. It my desire to have a home and be able to give it to my son someday.
Hi JoAnne Bearce, Thank you for watching. It's great to hear from you! Very happy you enjoyed this video and found it helpful. Of course! Buying and/ or selling a home is a huge deal! It's one that many of us will only do 1-5 times over the course of our entire lifetime! Buying our first home is always the most exciting and nerve wracking time since we don't know what to expect. It's my goal to continue producing videos about the real estate process so that anyone that truly wants to know the best tips and practices may learn for as long as UA-cam exists and long after I'm gone. Your awesome! Your son is so blessed and fortunate to have a Mom like you! What would you like to see next? Thanks again for watching! Enjoy a fantastic day! Thanks, -Your Real Estate Geek, Andrew Finney www.andrewfinneyteam.com/
1. Wet/dry shop vacuum 2. The RIGHT fire extinguisher (e.g. oil, wood, etc.) See link in description box for how to determine type needed 3. Extension cords/ surge protectors for electronics 4. Big kid tools (stud finder, ratchet set, hand saw, pry bar, rack, shovel) 5. Toolkit (home store may have cheap pre-made kits) and 5 gallon bucket and wheelbarrow and toolbelt 6. Headlamp (attics and crawl spaces) 7. Emergency preparedness kit (FEMA website for lists. Minimum of 72 hours of food, water, meds, clothes, gas in tank) 8. Ladders (appropriate size for YOUR home...8 foot, 10 foot, collapsible ladder, step ladder) 9. Have confidence in yourself (proud of you!)
Thanks for summarizing the video. While the list is great, the information in the video makes it much more helpful with practical guidance and tips. Either way, thank you for dropping by. =)
Great video. Thank you for your service. I would also add an “industrial” fan, which can be found at Lowe’s or HD for around $40-$60. Bringing the fan out during those hot summer days will keep you from having to drop your thermostat temps lower. I’ve also used it a number of times under the sink as leaks occasionally arise to stave off mold. Once water seeps into the board under the sink a towel isn’t going to get all the water out.
Would not recommend toilet paper roll trick. Unlikely it would cause a fire but always potential with it being cardboard. Opt for Velcro for cable management. Walmart sells a pack of 100 for like $5.
Hi Ms. Perfectly Imperfect, Thank you for watching and sharing with us. Your awesome! Yes, those are critically important to have in our homes especially an emergency preparedness kit and fire extinguishers. Super stoked these items are also important to you. You won't have to ask yourself if you're ready if an unfortunate event happens, because you know you already were from day one. Great job! Here's a 12 point checklist for the first week in your new home: ua-cam.com/video/UAqPN8YuLiE/v-deo.html What would you like to see next? Thanks again for watching Ms. Perfectly Imperfect! Enjoy a great day, Andrew Finney www.andrewfinneyteam.com/
Too excited about COE and forgot about the fire extinguisher which is extremely important although we have homeowners insurance and home warranty as well! #9 Confidence loved it! Thanks Andrew you never cease to amaze us with your informative videos !
All very helpful tips! I used several of your videos to build a list to follow for pre-closing, day of closing, and post-closing. It really topped it off with good advice. This list added fire extinguishers to the list :)
Andrew Finney Team you are the best. There is not a question I can't find an answer to. You have answers to questions I did not know I needed an answer to. Thank you so much for all you do
Just an FYI I got one of those multipurpose multi sized ladders, and as a woman it is just too heavy to drag around. I needed up buying a lightweight 5 foot ladder and that pretty much does everything I need. The multi function ladder was also too short to get to the roof, so for now it's a garage statue.
Thank you for the heads up Betty. That's an excellent point. Personally I prefer the light weight multi purpose collapsible ladders. They are a bit pricey but worth in my opinion for what it's worth.
I'm glad you did this video. I didn't think about a wet - dry vac machine, and a ladder. I'm Not a homeowner yet but I did create a list of things I need before moving in.
Hi Lani Mitchell, Thank you for watching. It's great to hear from you! Very happy you enjoyed this video and found it so helpful. =) Smart move creating a list of things now that you'll need when you buy your new home. Ah! Fire extinguisher! I totally forgot about that one. Thanks!
We have officially closed on our new home!! The process was easy. A lot of writing but easy. 4:45pm central time
WooHoo! Great job my friend! Congrats on your new home! Yay! =)
Congratulations. Is this your first home? I watched my parents go through it. It’s a learning curve for sure.

You have no idea what a surge protector does, do you?
You would not be able to buy the house without a fire extinguisher so I'm not sure if you're even qualified
"Big kid tools" what is this, a Kamala Harris rally?
