Ayyy, Smiff shouts out The Chosen. The creators of the show went through great lengths to make it as historically accurate as possible, including local and geopolitical politics, as well as making each character as human and regular as possible.
I'm sure this was recorded a while ago, but congrats on the wedding Chris and Helen. I especially love the photo where you two are squished to one side so Mochi can take up half the picture with her cute little tie.
@@ivyartemis2431It seems parasocial and cringe to comment here on UA-cam instead of wherever they saw the photo. Seems desperate for attention from Crip Crop as well.
@@Exquisite_Poupon Reading too much into it. The wedding was mentioned, I was unaware that the wedding happened, I looked on Trott's socials, and saw the pics. Nothing wrong with being happy for someone.
Wholeheartedly agreed that the water physics really makes *_Clan Wars_* feel like it's at a tiny scale and gives a bunch of interesting tactical options. While *_W.M.D._* has vehicles, it'd be neat to have a Worms game that did both.
yep i wish WMD had 2d water physics. its litterally the one good part of revolution/clan wars... and the extremly cursed voice packs XD. i mean the maps suck. its just generic ground textures where as in armageddon you had like 30 great premade maps aswell as being able to make maps and use pictures as maps :)
smithy just describing the miracle at the wedding of Cannae is amazing. He takes so much joy in describing what was displayed in the gospel but since it was divorced from religious context it sends him, that is delightful. Unrelated if you are reading this comment and want an interesting read, Robert Graves 'King Jesus' offers an amazingly historically accurate, non-miraculous take on the gospel tales via historically-very-accurate fiction, Graves does a good job on explaining all the miracles though the context of the cultures as they were BC30
its the only Bible story outside of the resurrection I remember from when I would be forced to go to church. the preacher made Jesus sound like a lazy college student chilling on his parents couch
There is no difference between a christening and a baptism in the UK. Some churches use the term "baptism" while others use the term "christening", but the service is the same. The word "baptism" means "to be immersed in water".
Some people reserve christenings for infants. Personally I thought baptisms were Catholic and christenings CofE - but I googled it and you are right.. they're basically the same thing
2:10 yep agree with smiff. the only good thing about revolution and clan wars is the water and it is genuinely fun... actually the extremely cursed voice packs are fun aswell XD. other than that armageddon all the way. WMD is also fine. it went back to the cartoony 2d style and has more similar physics to the old games.
I don't know about this The Chosen show, but I have been following a professor of History on UA-cam, a Doctor in History of Religion, and it is an amazing journey. He specialized in the near Eastern religions, that include ancient Jewish and Christianity but also ancient Persian and Egyptian religions, and he presents it in such a neutral way the commenters are always saying "he's a Christian" and "he's an atheist" because people can't pin him down (and he has said this is on purpose, he's not gonna talk about his personal beliefs or lack of beliefs so the viewer won't apply personal bias to his words). I'd recommend it but it is in Portuguese and there are no translated captions (maybe auto-translation, but that could be weird).
I loved Megalopolis, it was an absolute broken travesty of a film. It’s so interesting because it’s the work of an insane man, Coppola genuinely lost it
I’d say I’ve become more spiritual once I hit my 20s. Even though I don’t believe in things like God or the afterlife, I’ve grown to admire the moral teachings and community aspect. I’ve also become more respectful towards other people’s faith. I used to be one of those vitriolic cringy atheists in my teens. I feel like the change is also motivated by the narcissistic and aggressive approach millennials took with atheism. Now I don’t want to be associated with those Twitter users and Redditors.
I think spirituality and religion are very different though. I feel more spiritual as time goes by but with things like nature, just seeing a tree and thinking how old it is helps me put existence into more context. That tree is older than me and will be there long after me hopefully. Life is just a drop in the ocean, we should enjoy it while it’s here. I just really don’t like worship of figures. I’m sure he was wonderful, but to me Jesus was a noble man who dreamt bigger.
@@Mattym9287 I agree. I suppose that’s why paganism is becoming more popular. I also believe the obsessive worship of idols diminishes the altruistic stories and community aspect. Though, I guess some people just need a figure to latch onto. It’s better for that to be Jesus or God, rather than a cult leader or celebrity.
Two sides of one coin. What drove me away from religion was the militant attitude of die-hard christians who said every woman who has premarital sex is a slut and should be stoned, the death penalty is ok but women walking into an abortion clinic deserve verbal abuse, and similar barbaric ideas. Decided I didn't want to be part of that nonsense and hate. Most of the teachings attributed to Jesus are pretty chill, but the people who claim to believe in them sure need to check their actions.
Two sides of the same coin. What drove me away from religion is how militant die-hard christians are, so I said I didn't want to be grouped in with them. I had friends who were saying women who had premarital sex should be stoned to death, supported the death penalty but would verbally abuse women walking into an abortion center, and other similar vile things. The teachings attributed to Jesus are mostly pretty good, but the actions of his so called followers don't match up to what they are supposed to believe. I'm fine living my life in a way Jesus would approve of vs. considering myself a christian and judging people for not living just like me.
There's a difference between philosophy and spirituality/religion. One is a rational and critical inquiry on complex topics, the other is the belief in things that can not be proven to be real. I personally don't see much difference in spirituality and religion, except that one is organized and the other is not, but both are about believing in things that can not be proven to be real (I'd argue because it's not real but that's besides the point).
