I am no scientist but in school, i did learn about moving tectonic plates. As i understood, this moves mountains.

In the Quran, Allah mentions that even the mountains move or shift. This concept was not widely known for a long time, but scientists have now discovered that the movement of the Earth during the day when that shift night to day time 24 hours causes the mountains to move, thus validating this Quranic observation. -- " And you see the mountains, thinking them rigid, while they will pass as the passing of clouds. [It is] the work of Allah, who perfected all things. Indeed, He is Acquainted with that which you do. " Quran 27 :88

The key is in the likening of the movement of mountains to the movement or passing of clouds. The cloud doesn't move by itself, the force of wind moves the cloud. Likewise, a mountain dosn't move by itself, it moves through the rotation of earth. When you look at earth from a distance you see the mountains moving and passing away, carried by earth's crust.
What I want to know please is -- do you sincerely believe that some sky fairy has the physical size and capability to LITERALLY move a mountain? If so can we please explore the history of your delusion to discover who told you this story and why anyone with an ounce of awareness and sanity would believe something so utterly ridiculous and physically impossible?

How is it that you can study Geology well, knowing the moving mountains and the earth layers but your research mind cannot reach to the depth and layers of the Quranic verses and be at awe. Science can only explain why but cannot see how!

The Kitab is a divine book. Period. Science cannot explain how a clay can become Adam AS, cannot explain how sun, moon earth etc exist, only hypothesis not real evidence. A man knowledge is a tip of iceberg or tip of a sea.

I hope that my message will reach the Muslim brother and the person with whom I am speaking. We all know that the Earth is one mass, that mountains are an integral part of the Earth, and that mountains are an important landmark in geographical logic. Airplanes were used as guides to indicate directions, as well as travelers, back to the days before the Global Positioning System (GPS). The verse indicates that the earth is a body resembling a ball, and in the last verse it says (and after that he rolled it) like rolling an egg, and the verse says (and the mountains move as they roll) and so do the clouds God created) indicates that the earth is spherical and circular in a way closer to an egg and that it is in a state Movement along its axis is faster than the movement of clouds by the force of the wind, and when another verse talks about locations and constellations, this indicates that the Earth and all the stars are in a state of movement in space.
Yusuf is very wise. I really like his cautious approach towards the concept of merging science with Quran. I often see Muslims use the science argument to prove the authenticity of Quran. But as Yusuf rightly mentions, science can change, but the Quran is eternal.
Yusuf's approach negates the factually correct natural phenomena described in the Qur'an. These are more basic pieces of information which underpin and are fundamental to scientific theories and must not be downplayed or ignored.

All Muslim Quran scholars end the explanation of verses with "and Allah knows best" meaning that my interpretation might be could be wrong and only Allah know the ultimate truth. However if one should interpret the Quran one must produce evidence, and in the natural world it's extremely difficult to do so.

and the Quran also says to think and for the people who think this book has signs. so if every thing is 100% clear why would we look up and think? why would we look at the stars, sky and mountains why would think about the ocean? why would we look at our bodys.... yes Quran is 100% true and the message is clear. but 1400 year ago we don't know how the sky is protecting us we just believed it. but today we know how.. so it is not a interpretation it is the understanding of reality which we don't know 1400 years ago yet we believed in now it only strengthen our faith in Allah.

Of all the people who are giving dawa or talking to non Muslims, especially those at Speakers Corner, he is head and shoulders above them all. I have never heard him dhout ir raise his voice like those guys. I find Mihammed Hijab very condescending. He is in conversation with a person , he looks away, makes snide remarks . Also he will be drinking, whatever he is drinking and continue to interject . Adnan Rashid is another one, as bad . They both do not give the other side the chance to respond properly, always interjecting and when it's their turn to speak , they demand the other side to be quite. They are others there , who are not as bad as these two.
“When the mountains vanish like a mirage” surah 81 verse 3 - sounds more like a reference to a slow disappearance of mountains, like weathering. I watched a fascinating documentary by Cool Worlds - watching the end of the world, where it is mentioned how the process of weathering will eventually dissolve the mountains, around the time when oceans will be superheated due to expansion of the sun.
Mirage doesn't happen slowly. It's in a moment. Also the events in the day of judgement will happen quickly.
@@villabound5500Reference to mirage simply means something which is unreal. So the verse implies that mountains will disappear as if they had never existed. This is nothing to do with event happening slowly or fast.

A correction: the Qur'an makes statements about natural phenomena which are factually correct and yet could not have been known at the time; like the origination of the universe from a point source, explosion and its expansion.

@@iskaykandarkar Nah he said he views it as historical evidence, but not as divine. So he doesn't reject them as being false, but as being divine. He follows the Quran and believes in it being from God. But he views the hadiths as proof that Muhammad pbuh was real, his companions, etc certain events. But not as something that should be followed as closely as the Quran.
Some may call this a Quranist I guess, but he's not rejecting the hadith, he just views them as a different thing to validate Islam.

People of today assume or project the idea that "the denial of the existence of God" i.e. atheism to be the main definition of Islamic Context of Disbelief - Kufr. So they relate the natural disability or the very innate lack of awareness/ knowledge/ conscience as the foundation of Disbelief while in Islam, it is the purest form of belief called The State Of Fithra'.
Pure Kufr is when a person is already aware of God AND His Abilities, Attributes & Power & still continue to disobey/ disbelieve/reject/etc. A person who is already convinced that Islam is the Truth & Allah Is God & continue to deny it is the one committing Kufr.
This atheist is applying logical thinking & rational reasonning to be the Ultimate Attributes of ALL atheists, assuming they'd never choose to go astray. Nor choose to follow their own desires over the tiresome toils of a hardworking life of a Believer. While at the same time, contradicting their own belief/lack there of, which is the absense of a moral purpose & meaning of goodwill OVER bad, corrupt, selfish, unhealthy intentions. That is the only way they could ignore the blatant difference between good & bad & not let others hold them accountable accordingly.
Atheists require faiths more because they are more stubborn in their stance of not believing than obvious disbelievers. Except for of course an honest atheist who is only loyal to a fault.
Atheists covet the Power Of Being Almighty but only the benefit of it. The nonchalance in treating God as a fellow competitor in "who has more power?" as just a powerhungry entity when Power Is His Nature & Attribute already, shows the malintent & seems to push that being the sole purpose of God to exist, not aware that the nature of a human being by sheer existence, is magnified more of his attributes by ignorance.

@@RemnantRendezvous perhaps you are referring to ayats related to the Yawm al Qiyamah. But the non-muslim in the above exchange seems to be alluding to the ayat describing some fact about mountains - which the non-muslim wanted to challenge scientifically e.g. surah Naml ayat 88
As always Quran proves to be true - those heavy mountains do get pushed away by waves of the seas similar to how the light clouds move in the sky! SubhanAllah.

Because not only the ayats are preserved so is the methods of interpretation is preserved in the tradition. You cannot bypass the scrutiny of the traditional methodology that the other guy laid out to you at the very beginning.
Despite that, you kept pushing your ideas that the clear ayats about the Judgement day (52:10, 18:47, 21:104) somehow telling about mere earthquakes, or that Quran is apparently addressing atheists as disbelievers only rather than other disbelievers (including Christians, Jews, Hindus etc.)! This tells me you are not being totally honest, you have some agenda to push behind your charitable gesture towards Quran.

I find it hard to understand the point he's trying to make. what he is saying is so bizarre. Somehow I have a feeling his book would sooner or later get debunked in a scholarly/ intellectual discourse because it seems that what he's trying to establish is based on a faulty premise. Like Brother Yusuf basically said, conjecture. You just can't go on interpreting the Qur'an by yourself and then reaching specific conclusions about what Allah means by His words or His Actions/Commands.
I would be happy to have that discussion. Debunking ideas is what scientists do.

I am not promoting self. The book is just a tool to promote the Mercy of Allah! I am just trying to tell more people about His Mercy and bring them to the faith before the Day of Resurrection. Don’t you think atheist scientists should be enlightened too?
