my name is Ashton in Australia and I can confirm that my dad who is a tradie does this all the time
I swear, when I worked @ a hospital in Adelaide, that the parking inspectors were perched in near by trees waiting for my parking meter to expire.
I soon wised up & @ the next major metropolitan hospital I worked @ I had to park not too far from the hospital, but still with the city centre. The parks were for 2hr maximum before a chalky would come through & mark your tyres. I would strategically leave work, race to my car & wash the chalk mark off. I didn't need to go to the gym to keep fit. Every shift I'd have to race out to my car @ least 3 times.
How can a hospital worker take time off 3 times a day?
When I used to work in the city I'd leave an old parking ticket under the wiper, they would think I already got a ticket and leave my car alone

Taking the chalk off works, but if the ranger wants to be a prick, he can take a photo of the wheel valve. He notes the time, comes back later and takes another photo. In his notes he can state that the valve has not moved. You can take it to court and you'll lose. I know this because I had a mate that was a ranger, he gave me a heads up about their tricks.

Can't park on yellow lines so at a friend's party most of us parked on his grass because he has a yellow line out the front of his property...
In the end he made sure our cars were atleast a meter away from the curb, nice of him to encourage drink driving as we shuffled our cars around 😂

I've done an ez 1.5 mil KM in Sydney and the amount of times I've seen roal trolls illigally parked within 10 meters of an intersection is laughable, never mine the 2x $277 fines at my resident street. We have cameras too.

In my town parking wardens lurk around near the WINZ office (the NZ version of Centrelink) waiting for parking meters to expire but also checking the cars rego and warrant of fitness. Because they know that WINZ clients are on a low income and likely can't afford to keep their rego or WOF up to date. Then they hand out huge fines to the poor sods who can least afford it. 😠
