Watching all of the different railroad companies in this video reminds me of all the mergers that have happened in my lifetime. The one that is close to "home" for me is the BNSF. The Chicago Burlington and Quincy railroad merged with the Great Northern, and they merged with the Atcheson Topeka and Santa Fe, (every time I see or think of that railroad I hear Judy Garland singing that song from the movie "Harvey Girls). There are so many railroads that either went bankrupt or merged that it boggles my mind. In the future, I think people will see your videos and say to themselves, "So that is where that came from." You are preserving railroad history as well as entertaining the next generation of railfans.
I have to agree. Even though I lived in Florida since 1994, I mainly grew up watching Santa Fe & Burlington Northern as separate railroads. I didn't think the merger between them was even needed or necessary. Both railroads were making profits with their mainlines & a variety of their fleet of diesels to accomplish them. Truth be told at first, I never had anything against the mergers between 1996-2000 but when they began replacing their original power with AC'S & GEVO'S I changed my mind. Not to mention the current logo & paint scheme not in my ballpark.
I miss the SP. Their livery was kinda boring, their stuff was always old and dirty, all of which made their trains look bad to the bone. I also grew up with UP and BN, but something about the SP just hit different. Might be due to growing up in 4449's home town. I was so sad when I heard they were getting swallowed by the yellow guys.
I'm on GN and SOO territory. Not just the aforementioned BN merger, but now the big CPKC event. I'm fine with it since that means they'll be sending down The Empress right through my town!
I live in Woodstock (A little south of Cartersville and north of Kennesaw). Beautiful little city. Glad you got to come check it out! Also, very kind engineer at 13:52

Nice movie references, liability only from Twister, then I’m with you fellows from Oh Brother, Where Art Though, also a fun movie. Thanks for the chuckles and for the great video and narration. Been looking forward to a new video from you for some time.
Wonderful content, Danny! Thank you for sharing. I was hopeful that you had stopped for lunch at Doug's Place in Emerson. It's a must do. Plus, multiple tracks are perhaps one hundred feet from the parking lot. The drone shots added much. Your gracious and well spoken demeanor is appreciated and enjoyed.
I will also have to check that out. I have not railfanned much around Atlanta. I railfan more between Dalton and Rockmart because that is where I live but I would like to start going down into the metro. I have railfanned in around 15 states bout only have one video in the metro.

My son and I take 2 weeks a year driving around the country watching trains go by. We've done the Mississippi River Valley, the central plains and southwest, The Appalachians, the northern plains and northwest forests. This year we're doing the Southeast. I've been studying your videos to research locations to watch. Thanks for all the great information and advice! I hope we can meet when we make it to Tampa in December.
I hope you enjoyed Cartersville, Danny! It's been my home for as long as I can remember. You were actually very close to my old home around 5 minutes in. I always found it amusing when my mom came home upset about being held up by the locals! A great place to railfan in my opinion is either the ex-W&A depot downtown, the first ever Coca-Cola advertisement painted on the Young Brothers pharmacy (L&N cantilever crossings here!), or under the shade of the big bridge. A sort of unrelated note, in the industrial park spur on the other side of Cartersville, there's a TrinityRail facility that still runs an Ex-Southern SW1, TILX 1014, painted red with a Georgia Bulldogs logo slapped onto the cab!
Nice chase video, Danny. No anti-foaming agent needed... good to see the smiles and cameras (and the trains.) I'm a Seaboard Air Line collector (HO model trains, too) so, it's nice to hear anything about them. You got a cool sign! I've got plastic bottle-caps with the "Seaboard System" printed on them. I love the Rockmart area. When I cycle the Silver Comet Trail from a trailhead in Cobb County to Cedartown, I like to stop and take a break in Rockmart by the NS line to watch passing trains. Just to the South on the trail is the old Brushy Mountain Tunnel and an old 250 foot tall rail trestle that trail users ride/walk through and ride/walk across. The next time I'm out that way, I'll grab some 4k footage of the trestle and tunnel for you to use in a future video Danny.

12/8/2021 Danny, I'm sure you know about these things, but, The NS main out of Atlanta Emmen yard, west bound, branches at Austell. Ga,. The branching line is the same line you were chasing on, and the west bound main goes on to Birmingham. Just to the north of Austell is a huge intermodal yard. This junction is a superb place to watch NS trains. On the CSX at Elizbeth, the Georgia Northeastern connects with the CSX. This line services many light to medium industrial sites. One of the best spots is at the Univeter road grade crossing just north of Holy Springs. They get a lot of covered hoppers filled with chicken feed and actually have a track mobile working the siding, something to see, if you have never seen one. Also just to the south at Kennesaw, Ga, is the home of the "General" the famous "great locomotive chase" hero. At Cartersville the CSX's main to Chattanooga branches and heads north east to Etowah, Tenn., where it joins the east bound main out of Chattanooga. Another good place to watch trains going to and from the north and Cincinnati There is a branch line that leaves out of Etowah, and proceeds south east and around a somewhat famous loop to ascend a ridge. You can take a tour train on that line a few times a year. When You visited this area, you dropped into my home turf. I'm a rail fan, and I had no Idea that some of this action was there. Danny, This is where we do most of our motorcycle riding and train watching from. We have been to alot of these backroads on the bike. It is a beautiful area.
At a little after 19 minutes, I saw the drone and was hoping to see that footage. I almost cried with happiness when that footage came up only moments after. Gorgeous! I love your work and your narration. Thanks a million, Danny!
I use to work EMS in Carterville and the amount of trains through there was a nightmare for us, but o am very glad to see a group of people get to enjoy them!

Some cool along the line is Going north out of Cartersville almost to Adairsville by Kingston Ga is an old concrete plant that produce concrete for the Brooklyn Bridge along the main line.
