so I had a tough time with an early production 2001 2.0 vw beetle. for 2001 most of these were me 7.1.1 modules but my car had an older module for the ecm and the pin code is stored in the cluster and cant be retrieved with the im608. you really need to be able to read the eeprom data off the cluster and use a tool like vagtacho to read the pin. I ended up just immo deleting the ecm. be careful on the 2001 beetles or you might end up with a car like mine.

I have 608 and 508 to be honest the 508 does just about everything the 608 does as far as immo goes 608 has a few more features and bells and whistles but for immo 508 is great affordable tool imho

Tried a 2001 VW Beetle with the im608, it pulls the pin with the code “65535” which I assume
generic (when entering pin manually it lists 0~65535). Security verification fails thereafter.
Fails with AutoProPad with same pin pulled as well.
ever figure this out? Going through that same thing right now
i looked on auto pro pad web site shows that it can not pull pin code. where did you find the information that the 608 can pull the pin code for this beetle? thanks for the great info.

in usa IM608 pro after latest version only can choose euro type beetle 98-2005 but i am not get the pin code for 2000 VW beetle usa type as the same u done.. so there some things between cars build base on the cluster i think

I heard Volkswagen turn off servers. Making vw cars more difficult. So presume when you are using your im608 here its on wifi taking to china and then talking to vw. I did a golf 2009 all keys lost maybe 4 months ago. Tried doing a 2005 caddy a fortnight back and it would not allow obd key. Told I had to remove the clocks. Then I tried a vw touran and the same. So today I went to a 2005 beetle and tried to read the pin code. Nothing. It could not read it. So seeing yours do it but the video posted 8 months back, I think that explains it. Vw servers were working then.

So basically im on a beetle today again and the car is a 2005. im608 pro cannot pull the pin. One simple question to you. I have been told that VW switch off their servers and the im608 pro uses them to calculate the pin. Without you must remove the clocks and upload eeprom data to some site. Is this right?
So basically thats the issue that it can read for some vw beetle models .. the only way you can pull out the pin now would be through bench.. by removing cluster..reading data from there
@@MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE I been told something though. That VW have turned off their servers. Autel use these servers when you doing work with im608 pro. I went to a vw CADDY remember about a month back. Could not get it to read pin at all via obd and same for 2005 Touran. Did go to a 2009 Golf like 7 months back and that had one faulty key. I remember MS908 im your favourite machine. It did that car via OBD no problem. It was connecting via China. I bet IM 608 pro would not do it via OBD. interesting.
This machine said about getting the pin from ECM. Heres the exact message. See if you can decipher it.
Failed to automatically read PIN/CS code from ECM.
You can confirm the engine type by checking the label on the surface of the ECM.
Select the engine type corresponding to the path below and read the PIN/CS code:
Expert mode -> ECM.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN? Failed to read pin. Must read label on ECM. Then it looses me. Says engine type corresponding to path below. Below where..? This message is in the middle of the im608 pro screen. There is nothing displayed below it.

Love your videos they are great. But in this video at the end it asked if you wanted to delete all keys, yes or no. You said press yes but you pressed no. I'm assuming I press yes in the field at a car. At 8:00

How long ago did you do this please? My new 508 wouldn't work on my 2003 Beetle. Told it doesn't support before 2005 so had to buy another programmer. Disappointing.

Thank your for your response, and this is just for UA-cam viewers and im608 owners of you ever get a 2000-2001jetta akl, most likely your won’t be able to pull pin code with the im608 only vagtacho and t-code that if there is no aftermarket radio installed on vehicle

just tiring to Add 1 extra key to a Jetta 19 while the car came with only 1 VVDI smart key it was programed to the vehicle in Dubai as i tried to add another K-D X2 to the same car but my IM508 was asking me to provide the CS code byte.
I believe you can clone vvdi smart key.. must be an xhorse smart key clone only

2000 Beetle TDI - Autel im608, XHorse, Lonsdor, Autopropad - none of these can read PIN.. Even worse - at some reason chip cloning does not work on this car (neither VVDI mini or Keydiy can sniff the data).

Hi mi llave se desprogramo de un 2000 beetle diesel y vinieron 2 que se dedican hacer llaves y no pudieron le enseñe tu vídeo y le dije que solo con la 608 pro vía a poder y no pudo se desespero lo más fácil para el fue desconectar el inmovilizado,ahora no me prende el radio y en el tablero se le quedó prendida otra luz,con que scanner puedo activar el radio? Never bought im608 because its us model. Told when i called Autel uk that ms908 same as ms608.
Just found out that Autel uk is owned by Kevin Brown and is a franchise. So they dont have a true Autel in UK which they own.

I can make new keys for these over obd2 or on the bench 3000 miles from the vehicle. I'm just ringing the bell from a watchtower looking way down the road at what the future holds. What ever happened to picking a cell phone up, dialing a number to your local locksmith homie and asking for help.? Why post the whole key making procedure from start to finish? If I read the cliff notes on a book for my college exam instead of reading the whole book and get a A+++ from the teacher that's cheating. If everyone just hands you the answer when your in a bind how will you ever really grow from the struggles and trials of learning some things on your own time. Or even better you can read books on locksmith tips,tricks,etc. Just food for thought

If you just need to program key both do the same id used with the accessories they come with (gbox, xp400)
However, if you think you are going to need to diagnose issue and do more like module programming on certain vehicles (available on bimmer and benz) then get the IM608.
I started with the 508 but i diagnose a lot so i ended up purchasing another scanner that can diagnose but as you can notice, it is not convenient to have separate scanners especially if you already know what you want (key only or key and diagnostic) thus i am now wanting to purchase the 608 to have all in 1.
Note: the Im508 went from no bidirectional diagnostic capabilities in its early years to having it now (due to the updates) so it can diagnose to a certain extent now but it cannot program or update modules.
Subscription is $350 vs 795usd.

1 of the newer tools some locksmiths was using for VAG group vehicles- VW,Audi has been shut down and no longer works because of videos like this and other pictures Locksmiths been posting to the internet. The Dealerships are getting fed up with this kind of promotion people keep bringing to social media. There fighting back and doing everything they can to keep Locksmiths out of there systems. Seen it on the newer Dodge,Chrysler,Jeep + Fiat. Remember the days of Direct TV and Dish Network when people kept hacking there systems...? Most people don't because there's no more hacks for Satellite companies. They locked everyone out! Same goes for paper locksmith trade magazines. Too many people talking and blabbing about what they can do. So keep posting these videos and pictures that rub it in the Manufactures face and maybe we'll all be looking for new jobs.
