As a Maine boat builder and mechanic, love to see you going down the rabbit hole of custom builds :), cheers from Belfast ME. A Westmac is a beast of a hull... rocks will loose. :)
So excited for you to get to build a new boat the way that you want it to be equipped. To hear you talk about how you started with your 1st boat to where you are heading is a Great accomplishment that is well deserved. Thanks for the great content from a genuine down to earth human being.
80 y.o. woman in Massachusetts here. LOVE this channel. Never miss an adventure. I've learned SO much about lobstering! Thought i was such a water girl spending my childhood at merrymount beach, digging clams, sailing our turnabout, driving the motorboat, running over the rocky beach, swimming in the rapids. Damn, watching you guys has shown me SO much that i never imagined ! I love seeing how you guys work so hard to bring in those lobsters that I buy so casually . You all are smart and funny and hard-working and I appreciate you. Keep it going!!😊
Congratulations 🍾!! How exciting for you and your crew. Can’t wait to follow your journey building the new boat. I’m a farmer and I know the New England cold real well. Stay safe and stay warm. Spring will be here sooner than we think.❤️🦞👍🙂
I feel so proud of you guys! Undoubtedly the reason so many of us have become so intrigued with your crew is because folks these days live boring lives, disconnected from family, nature, and we never get to see the work that builds our comfy lives. Your content is important for those of us who want that, but were never lucky enough to have it. Keep it up!
I knew it!! I'm so freaking excited for you guys! Off to bigger and better, and there is NO ONE more deserving than all 4 of you! Congratulations, Jacob and crew!! 🎉🎉🎉 and ice fishing vids, yes please!! One thing.. can you explain knots VS miles?
We love you no matter what you do, lobstering, fishing, or hunting. It's your personality that I believe we all enjoy most about your videos. Congratulations, Jacob.... from Baltimore. P.s. my family has a Bar Harbor '24 cabin cruiser. Ciao, brother.
So EXCITING!!!! It's wonderful news for you and your crew and certainly well deserved!!! The VR is super cool... I had a feeling that you were getting ready to pull the trigger... You had spoken about a new boat, what you'd like to have, this there, that here type of talk... If you're having it built, build it right, with ALL the comforts, gadgets, etc... I think you should put in a Blackstone (flattop) grill!!! A drying closet for your wet/cold gear... Storage for your emergency suits and capsule (don't forget you NEED a NEW one!!!)... A nice "shhtter" with a heated seat... Vents in the floor or floor level to keep those tootsies warm... vents in the ceiling to blow cool air on the warm days... Nice comfy bunks... How about a remote starter for those cold days??? LOL... Is that even possible??? Have you thought about colors for the boat??? I know that you mentioned a new name... I'm really happy for you!!! Can't wait for the build to begin and hopefully you'll document the progress and share it with us!!! CONGRATS Jacob!!!
Nice setup, Jacob. A suggestion regarding your Cammo - have a couple of remote control points & remote control "Dollys" for his cameras. Means that he can control multiple cameras from the wheelhouse & get more footage of your crew and angles of the boat as a result. I'd also suggest a dedicated drone landing spot on the boat too - better to design & incorporate one now, then having to make do later. You mightn't use these now, though it future-proofs that side of your boat, while making everything safer for both the Cammo and rest of the crew. Lastly - have multiple first aid kits littered around the boat, including a backup big one with a defibrillator. Improves safety for both you guys, and the other boats surrounding you, if someone has an accident or heart attack & you can get there quicker than a rescue chopper or coast guard.
Tuninkate has some good points. Consider hiring a film consulting group to review your plans. Filming technology changes so much, so quickly, being able to accommodate future needs would be really helpful.
@@LORDVOLCOS Webcams could be done via that too, but the key thing is to get the core supporting infrastructure built in from the start. Done properly and that'll last the lifetime of the boat. I project managed the build of a University radio station as a kid. 15 years later & it's still leading edge globally, as I set the supporting broadcast infrastructure up right from the start that's made it very cheap and easy to keep updated. Do that properly, and Jacob will take the content curation side of his business to a whole new level and it'll be upgradable with ease relatively cheaply for the life of the boat. As for safety equipment, you can never have enough of it. Sadly some sailors just re-learned that with tragic consequences in Australia in the Sydney To Hobart. Check safety multiple times, and then again for good measure, then when you've done all of that, do it all again just to be sure.
@@Jet8053 This is an area that I've worked in before, both for radio and television. Key thing is to have those capabilities & infrastructure in mind during the design process of the boat, and then the shipbuilder should be able to assist with a lot of it. Done properly, it can also contribute to the overall safety of the boat and those around it too. As far as UA-camrs who think this way in the US, either Trent Palmer or Mike Patey could probably assist too. Both are bush plane guys doing multiple aircraft builds & have a lot of video production experience, particularly Trent. Could probably assist with doing similar stuff to Jacob's plane too.
This is awesome! I feel like you've been hinting at this a couple of times recently, but I love the announcement. Look forward to seeing the build process. I really like seeing factory tours showing them building the thing you are so excited for, so I hope we get some of that.
Thank you so much for your videos. As a person I am as far from lobster fishing as it gets but I find what you do absolutely fascinating. Taking action, moving forward wth so much respect and passion for what you do. Love it, love it, love it. Well done and smooth sailings wth your 2025 project !
Great video Jacob 😊. Will be cool to see you on a new boat I'm sure it will take quite some time to build 😮 happy holidays can't wait to see you and your dad flying out to catch brook trout 😊
The closet in the corner by the air, blow heat into the bottom of that closet for the oil pants and put a vent on the top side of the door and it will turn it into a little makeshift dryer/dehumidifier
its so cool seeing you wear an EAST COAST LIFESTYLE hat. I went to high school with the guys who created that company in Saint John. Love to see how far it's gone.
Make sure you don't lose anything. Like the wet gear warmer, etc. When something is gonna be new, make sure it's more not a loss. I'm not a boatsman at all yet the trucks & care I've been apart of building away have more of anything I can get into them with the horse power to push em down the road in my case versus yours. Enjoy your content. Keep it coming. B safe always
So excited for you! You deserve to have a boat that works for you, the way you need it! Looking forward to whatever adventures you share with us! Happy ice fishing!
I hear ya on the getting out of bed part knowing where you're going. Work 12 hour night shifts 7pm-7am here in Maine. Knowing you're gonna be standing in the whipping wind with freezing water smacking you in the face all night, building up an ice beard... Yeah it gets tough to get out of the warm bed sometimes. Love it once I'm out there though.
How can I get on a lobster boat for a job? I'm 48. I'm tired of construction. No matter the weather. I'd be more at peace out on the ocean in Maine. I live near Waterville.
@truecowboy Ah whoops, forgot to say what It is I actually do. 😂 I'm a Snowmaker for Sunday River. I hike around on a mountain in the wind all night, we're usually going for max production mode, so running trails wet and heavy. Sometimes I can get a solid half inch thick ice shell built up on my coat and backpack depending on direction of the wind. Other times I'm gliding from tower to tower on perfect powder like my boots are skis. It's a wicked fun job, tough, but fun. As for becoming a lobsterman your best bet is to go down to the docks and ask around for who's hiring hard working greenhorns and get the word from them lads, if you got the right vibe they'll tell you who needs help so just sell it.
Of all the channels to see a truly practical demo of the Vision Pro for the first time, I never would've expected this one. This was super cool, though! Excited to see your new boat project.
You will simply love the Wesmac . We have three in our harbor. They are so stable with their hard chine. Everyone changed from Bruno Stillman to Wesmac. Of course you could also go classy and have Peter Cass build you a nice fifty footer. Classic wooden boat out of wood.
So excited for you and the crew. Lobstering and fishing. Then flying out to remote Maine lakes and streams for ice fishing and hopefully hunting. Living the Maine lifestyle. Good Luck and Enjoy!
First, Congrats on the new boat. Second, that blows my mind how you built it on the iPad, then walked through it in your cabin. I've not seen virtual reality before. So amazing. ❤
That CAD design is freaking awesome. I've been in I.T. for 30 years and I've always thought I chose the wrong branch and should have gone into CAD design. Can't wait to watch the making of it. As far as names, how about "By No Means" and in lower print under it "A Pleasure Boat", or "Not a Pleasure Boat" I'm sure whatever the name will be, it will be great.
Jacob, I think you've already named your new boat... The Slipper Skipper. Or the Non Slipper Skipper. Congratulations on the new boat, whatever you wind up naming her. Thank you for the tour of the Rest Ash Oar. Best wishes for the upcoming 2025 New Year to you and your family from me here in eastern NC. 😊😊🎉
Everything you show us is interesting! Who would’ve thought that lobster fishing would be so educational and fun to learn about. You deserve all your successes. I admire you and what you do. And the content ( no matter what it is, always holds my attention and leaves me wanting more. I tried to get tickets to the cabins but this it was not to happen, but I’m hoping one day it will. My husband died 3 years ago and then I broke my back so times are very tough but it is a bucket list. Hope to get a shout out but not sure if you even have time to read your comments but if you do my name is Beth from Pittsburgh. All the best to your family and crew and as always be safe and have fun out there
Jacob good morning, thank you for posting this type of video. I like looking at these things, ice, snow, fish, etc. Jacob fishes for me, a 200 year old toothless shark 🦈 who was once Moby Dick's lover. I want to cook for the celebration on the first day of the year 2025.
Yes, please takes along with all of your adventures!! The program you used was phenomenal! Boat's name: The Claw Knot. Happy New Year's to you, your family & crew. Much love! ❤
Ooo..:this is an awesome project! And, as you said, the footage difference may not SEEM to be a big issue, where space is at a premium, the additional square footage WILL make a lot of difference
I spent a cold winter & spring living in Steuben, ME & working in Bar Harbor. Love that area of Maine...but I agree the cold takes some getting used to. Greetings from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Love your videos & your content. Looking forward to seeing more.
I am so happy for you, congratulations on this new chapter. I have always been told every vessel has a name. Please keep us posted on the building and what names you like. Will you be doing more of the videos with the family and going out to do a lobster boil?
I am so excited for you, the new boat, and the growth you're going for! that's AMAZING! The renderings look really good, and how cool that you can be involved with the building too. Congratulations to all of you! I think she'll give you her personality as the build comes together, so wait a bit on the name and see what reveals itself!
I never used to lock but some scumbag rifled through my work van and car in Newbury VT about 15 years ago. Went through several other vehicles on Main Street that night. Lost a $20 I kept in the visor and a gas card (useless because they didn't know the code). I was lucky they were just looking for cash. If they'd cleaned out the back of all my tools I'd have been up the creek. I've since moved a few towns away and lock every night especially since I keep a $hundie$ in the visor now.
You should include a small bird cage on your new boat, for all the feathered friends you find out from shore that need a ride back to the shore!!! As a child we would spend 3 weeks in a vacation rental in York on the road to Nubble Light. One year my mom met the lighthouse keeper and his family and the grocery store. He invited us all to come spend the day on the lighthouse island. It was amazing! My brother is the retired fire chief in Richmond. Growing up in the NE of the country was just wonderful!!! I live in Texas now!
From Minnesota I can feel your pain. In the summer it is the Humidity and in the winter it is the wind. Hang in there, pulling for bright sun and little wind.
That's fantastic Love the channel and love the direction it is going. Please post monthly updates on the build Thanks so much for sharing From Jim and Missy
Hay ...wheres the potty!!???👀 Wheres the beds for naps!!!???👀👀 Don't forget to include your youngest skipper! Hes gonna wanna have his viewing window LoL 😆😆😆
I used to dock my boat at the Jersey shore and by Dec 1, it would be winterized and ready for the winter. A 10lb bag of rock salt in the bilge just in case. 35* was my limit. Yeah, I know...
I'm so happy for you.. I can't wait to be on this journey with you and observe everything you're doing.. Happy New Year to you all I wish you good health and lots of happiness❤❤❤❤❤😊😊
Excited to hear about building a new boat. I love reading about boat building but actually seeing it done for your boat will be great. I am so glad I found your content. I look every day to see if there is something new from you.
Love this. Seeing these hard working fishermen stumbling around with a VR headset made my day. The new boat looks great, too, though I felt a little like Dean Pelton from Community.
Hell yes I am so excited for this to see the progression of this channel and you guys has been wonderful I've absolutely loved it!!! So to see it grow even more by getting a new boat and new chapters to your guys story makes me love it even more can't wait to watch the boat build and to see what you guys do with it congrats Good luck and keep up what you're doing we absolutely love it!
Ice fishing sounds like a lot of fun to view in a video. Congratulations on your new boat to be built, that will make all your dreams come true and all your quests possible.
Its very exciting to hear of your new boat design. Watching the progress as you go will be awesome. Also, I Cant wait to see more of your ice fishing videos.
Well I don’t like to raise my glass before I get the champagne but I’m very happy to see your business and boat growing all remember a few videos of you saying this is a life long dream of your and I wish you all the best. Would it be big enough it fish crabs too since you guys throw so many back a year or maybe you can tally up a weeks worth of how many crabs you catch and do the numbers see if it’s worth it? Any ways congrats it’s still early but a year will fly by and I hope everything come out the way you want. Love your channel from 🇨🇦
Jacob ……. Thanks for the opportunity to learn about lobstering in 2024. I appreciate the sharing of information about lobster conservation efforts, the biology of the lobster, the hard work required to get product from the sea to market, etc. Good luck on the build of your new boat! And I look forward watching your posts I. 2025
How exciting for y'all. :) That's so awesome that you can just build it virtually. Congrats and good luck with everything. I was cracking up when you were talking about the outboards. I grew up spending a lot of summer times on Ossipee Lake in NH and there are YEARS of pictures of the family having a great time and invariably, my dad's butt sticking up out of the transom of our old wooden Hiliner, working on the Mercury OB. LOL He kept us waterskiing and having a great time. Ahhh the New England memories.
Totally cool that your building a awesome boat hoping your sons will love the lobster industry can't wait to see the new boat. as for a name, name it after your daughter.
So Exciting! Ask your crew for ideas? Heck Yah for Ice Fishing! See if that reporter would come on that adventure 😂 I doubt she's had that kind of experience! 2025 is looking pretty sweet watching all this. Be Safe, Have Fun and Happy New Year to All! 🛥🛬❄️🌡
Very excited for you to build a boat to your specifications and to be able to diversify its capabilities is a win win. But with the weather and conditions that you operate in I would highly recommend a freshwater cooling system not just for freeze protection but for the protection of the engine in general and for a small fuel fired heater for protection of below deck freezes.
I’m so very happy for you!! You guys work hard and you deserve a new boat! Looking forward to seeing the actual boat. How long before you think it will be on the water?❤😊
Congratulations, cool way to show how things connect together! I hope the build goes smoothly. You make the videos, and I will watch, I love your, style and willingness to share knowledge. Stay warm boys, from Calgary, Alberta, 🇨🇦.
This is awesome...really glad to see and hear you living out your dreams. While im not a fan of lobster(more of a crab guy) i havent had lobster from maine,so maybe one day will have to take a trip and try some out. Congrats my guy, hard work pays off.
Congrats on the new build! 🎉 You must be so excited with the changes that are coming. It's going to be so nice to not have hydraulics in the head. 😅 I hope you'll take us all on a tour or two of her all being built out. Best of luck selling the current boat when the time comes! Until then we'll just look forward to the new vids! ❤ Happy New Year! 🎉

A knot is 1.151 mph. A knot is one nautical mile per hour.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nautical_mile
1 mph = .86 knots. So 20 mph ~17.5 knots.
That right side dimple showed A LOT in this video with all that smiling. So fun to see you so jazzed about this big next step. Congratulations!
We love you no matter what you do, lobstering, fishing, or hunting. It's your personality that I believe we all enjoy most about your videos. Congratulations, Jacob.... from Baltimore. P.s. my family has a Bar Harbor '24 cabin cruiser. Ciao, brother.
This. I think people will watch no matter what he does.

Just looking forward to all you guys are doing. But really looking forward to the flying up to ice fish.
I love it- fellow Mainer leaving their keys in the truck. It's the blessing of not living in a city up here.
Always leave mine in it with the door unlocked. Never had an issue.
I've since moved a few towns away and lock every night especially since I keep a $hundie$ in the visor now.
just a few name suggestions for the ship Deep Blue Haul, Pinchy Business, Seafarer's Legacy, Atlantic Pride, Lobster Odyssey, and Ocean's Bounty
What a cool development. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress of the boat build!
Hang in there, pulling for bright sun and little wind.
you know oars work in all temps, no need for an outboard lol
Whole crew of Vikings rowing too 😅
Keeps you warmer in the winter too
Worst Morning Ever! 😂
Yeah. Noah had oars on the ark. Per Gods orders.
@@0bob0cyaNoah had a 1000hp V-drive. what are you talking about?
That's fantastic
Love the channel and love the direction it is going.
Please post monthly updates on the build
Thanks so much for sharing
From Jim and Missy
Hay ...wheres the potty!!???👀
Wheres the beds for naps!!!???👀👀
Don't forget to include your youngest skipper! Hes gonna wanna have his viewing window LoL 😆😆😆
I also am blessed to live in coastal Maine, it was cold as heck... Was - 5 F last morning
Day-um & it's not even Jan. yet! And I can't believe you put windshielf washer fluid in a boat engine! They don't make anti-freeze for boats?
I used to dock my boat at the Jersey shore and by Dec 1, it would be winterized and ready for the winter. A 10lb bag of rock salt in the bilge just in case. 35* was my limit. Yeah, I know...
-5 where? I'm Coastal too and the coldest we have seen this winter is 2 degrees lol I'm on the other side of MDI from Jacob.
@@207Vampire I have it in my notes that 6:30 a.m. on the 22nd of December it feels like temperature was -6 in the Freeport / Pawnal area
I appreciate your attitude, enthusiasm, n work ethic...
You're a good man.
I'm so happy for you.. I can't wait to be on this journey with you and observe everything you're doing.. Happy New Year to you all I wish you good health and lots of happiness❤❤❤❤❤😊😊
Boat name suggestion: Sea Dreamer.
Congratulations! You all needed a new boat. I love your channel and have learned more here than i did living there. However i wasnt on the coast.
Very cool to do it in virtual reality like that first. Wish you well in the endeavor and can't wait to see it!
Excited to hear about building a new boat. I love reading about boat building but actually seeing it done for your boat will be great. I am so glad I found your content. I look every day to see if there is something new from you.
Looking forward to seeing the final version of your new boat! 👍
Having the internet name your boat? Be careful what you ask for.
Boaty McBoatface. 😂
Love this. Seeing these hard working fishermen stumbling around with a VR headset made my day. The new boat looks great, too, though I felt a little like Dean Pelton from Community.
Cirkul is the best!!
Ice fishing trips would be great to watch!
Nature at sea can make you feel real small real fast when you sail alone!!
This is wonderful! Congratulations, and i look forward to seeing the building process. I love learning how things are done.
East coast lifestyle! Halifax represent 🫶
Congratulations on moving forward for future boat usage and being able to modernize your work and comfort zone. Your 3D ability is amazing
Congratulations Jacob!! Glad your going forward with a new boat. Stay warm, be safe.
I'm excited for you guys! This new boat sounds like a dream.
Awesome news!! So glad your going with a WesMac! Pogie seined on a WM down on Cape Ann...my favorite northeast boat!!
So so cleaver . . . . Hope you'll have e heaps of room to replace the hoses ect when needed.
Just awesome. Congratulations
So exciting, a new boat .... and you're designing it how you want it!!! Can't get any better than that!! Congratulations ❤❤❤❤❤
Glad to see you are able to invest in your future with a dream project.
I look forward to seeing more.
Ice fishing, plane, new boat ,more lobsters. Yes please! Bar Harbor born here. I sure do miss Maine.

Thanks so much for letting us hang out with ya. ❤
Would love to see ice fishing!
Happy New Year! 🎉
Congratulations on a new boat. Happy holidays. Thank you for your videos 🙏
Wow! The new boat looks amazing! I know ZERO about lobster fishing but I enjoy watching your videos. Cheers!
Don't forget about the halibut fishing you do as well. Is there something extra you can do to make that easier?
Your kids are going to love your new boat.
Stay humble and real, mate. You are going to ROCK the LOBSTER, SEA WORLD. Good on You and your mates and family.
