Sleeping in Jimny
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 жов 2024
- Winter car camping and campfire cooking with my comfortable mini Suzuki Jimny camper. I'm 6ft tall if you're wondering and I fit just in the Jimny to sleep comfortably.
The weather was too good to miss out on for mid January in the North East of the UK. I packed the car and headed to my local woodland camping spot.
I left the roof tent at home this time. Sometimes it's fun to change your setup and this one couldn't get any simpler. I love sleeping in the new Jimny on overnight camping. I'm 6ft tall by the way, that's a common question when sleeping in the Jimny.
You don't need to buy a roof tent if you're planning on short trips in the Jimny, especially if you can limit the equipment you take. It's easy to pack too much gear but it's better to only take what you really need. Anything I didn't use on this trip will be noted and removed from my kit list the next time I do this set up.
I was camped at the top edge of Brockwell Woods in Blaydon Burn, not far from Newcastle. It's a lovely spot to catch the sunrise. You can still hear cars passing by unfortunately but it isn't too disruptive. Other camping spots deeper into the woodland are very quiet and even though you're only 10 minutes drive from civilisation, you feel like you're far away from it.
I light the fire bushcraft style as I enjoy the process of it. To me it's very relaxing. This is not a survival situation and the fire is for cooking and warmth. I do not fell any trees and take my own wood that is responsibly sourced.
This is not wild camping, it can be quite challenging in the UK to do this. I pay to camp here and have permission to light a fire responsibly. I leave no trace and respect the land. The only thing I take away with me is a mild hangover and good memories.
Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching :)

I'm not being paid to promote the Mini Fire Anchor. I just love it, so added the link in case you want one too. I made a crude cover for it with my sewing machine lol, I guess it does the job.

THE ADVENTURES OF.......OCD man!
😂💯
Last few miniutes after 33.00 ,great.
Thats not very nice to say. Typical on here these days sadly. He is enjoying his spare time, its harmless fun, would you like him to insult you ? Learn some manners.
@@oddities-whatnot you nobhead, he knows I was having a laugh, he was the 1st one to like my comment! Get a grip
Lol.. nobhead
I love how you left the place without a trace. Truly a responsible camper.
Thanks for noticing that Danilo, big part of the camp for me is the clean up. Quite enjoy it!
@@OutThereEquipped Sure. Gotta appreciate these things.
At the end of it, he could have kept the rocks in one place; no need to throw them in all directions. Also, way too much time/effort was made to pack/unpack the various stuff. E.g. packing the water container in a bag ?? And all that, just for reading a book !? Don't get me wrong. I liked the video, just felt he took it a bit too far, especially reading a book. Man, he was living a book !
It’s personal choice the reason I scatter the rocks. there’s nothing worse than turning up and seeing a man made fire pit. I know it’s not true wild camping where I am as I’m paying to be in the woodland but the least I can do it try to make it seem like it’s untouched for the next person. But you’re right it’s not necessary, it’s just what I prefer.
I record my day doing what I do when go camping. It’s just a snapshot of the day and it’ll be nothing like your day if you did it. Each to their own I guess and reading a book (which seems to shock some people lol) is one of the reasons I like to go camping. I’m showing 20-30 minutes of about 20 hours elapsed time. If I can get 1-2 hours of a book in that’s a win in my book (no pun intended). Thanks for watching 👍
@@OutThereEquipped I am sorry, I did not mean that you leave the fire pit as it is. You did right by getting rid of it, i just meant, you could have kept the rocks in one place. You must have gathered them from various places, throwing them back seemed to me like it was too much, you know ? Just keep them piled up somewhere discreetly, like behind a tree or bush or something.
As a dad AND a stepdad, just having the free time to sit and have an uninterrupted brew or take my time cooking a meal is a rarity these days, so being able to do what you did here would be heaven to me lol
Man this takes me back, to my old Jimny. Driving to the beach, sleeping in the jeep, towel on the dash drying out. It still amazes me that I could comfortably get an 8ft surfboard from the passenger footwell to the back door of this little beauty of a car...
Ive tried the same in an X3 and a Discovery and neither are capable of doing it 👍
A few nights ago, at dawn, I was awakened by a strange chest pain, which I had never had before. And I started to watch your video, and the pain went away, little by little, because the video relaxed me. I also really like to go camping. Thanks
You’re welcome glad it helped with some chill out time 😊👍
Hello, I'm from Japan and also love Jimny. I always enjoy your videos and look forward to next one. Your videos are absolutely great and the lovely landscape of the English countryside makes my heart peaceful. Furthermore, I learn many things, not only camping techniques but also its manners. I like how you cleaned the camp site up at the end of this video and you respect the natural environment. Thank you for making excellent videos!!
Thank you so much! Appreciate you watching my videos 🤩
Yep with the new trade deal we have just signed with your country it will make it easier for you to come to the UK and try it for yourself.
This video helped me unwind. So much is going on in the world today and I needed a little respite from the chaos. You gave me some relief. Thank you.
You're very welcome! Really appreciate you watching Anthony.
You’re a man of good taste in kit - Darche, Exped, Le Creuset, Opinel, Helinox - as well as Kraken! Great set up fella, and good technique on the stew 👍
Cheers Chris. Got to make the best of downtime eh 😉
I left in 73 but my dad as a Geordie always every year came over n enjoyed our time canoeing/ camping in the wilds with my son's. He loved chopping wood like a demented beaver bless him. It's good you leave just your footprints when camping fella. 🇨🇦 Katawasisiw 🇨🇦 71+ Yorkshire expat
“Demented beaver” 😂 gave me a giggle mate thanks! Happy days I bet 👍
You are so organized and have packed everything so well it was a treat for my OCD. 😄
😎👍
I wish every camper is just like you, then we have a better world.
Hello! Great, heartfelt video!
I myself am from Russia. Owner Jimny of the previous generation. I love to travel on it. It’s easier with many things. There are limitations, of course. But not everything is as strict as yours. By the way, where you can’t open fire, we usually use gas stoves or burners. In addition to gas, I carry a Kelly Kettle samovar with me. On it, water can be boiled quickly and in any weather. You can also cook something. Independent of the weather. The wind loves. Not afraid of rain. You can drown everything that is on the earth - bark, wood chips, leaves, hay, etc. Recommend .
It’s easier to hide from unnecessary eyes and this allows Jimny. Although for this it is necessary to leave away from megacities.
Sometimes I also spend the night in the car. I note that in the new Jimny, the place to sleep will be a little wider. I wanted to clarify why the rear wheels were needed. Aligned the position of the machine for sleeping or for the marquise?
Hello! Thanks for watching 😊
Yes it’s the same in the UK with regards to lighting fires. The place I was in this video is privately owned and uniquely you have permission to light a fire responsibly 👌🏻
I don’t yet have a Kelly Kettle but have seen them in action. Powerful kit!
😁✌🏻
It's just past midnight, and we're locked down from you know what. I'm in bed, watching a guy quietly pack his Jimny and head out into the woods. Thank you for taking us there.
☺️✌🏻
Thanks for this Sir! This is one of the very good reason for me to have Jimny soonest! More Power!🙏🏻☺️
Great car. You’ll have fun I’m sure! 😁
I do enjoy watching you
The best camper ever
Quiet, clean and tidy, everything is perfect
You are number ONE
Thanks, appreciate you watching :)
What a perfect little setup 👏
😊🙌🏼
I think its cool that no matter what part of the world your in you have like minded people. People that love to be outdoors.
Thanks, Geordie. Lots to learn from your video. Great presentation.
Thanks!
Because of you my husband and I went there too. Great Place... we were at 7b. We had 4 nights in October this year. Thank you so much. X
Brilliant! 7b is a good spot. 🤩👍
Hi Man! I'm brazilian and i like so much your videos. Love Jimny, love wild life, love life free style...this my dream live that. UK is awsome!
Hey man! Thanks 😊 appreciate it 🙌🏼
Everything so nice and tidy...very relaxing to watch. Thank you!
Appreciate you watching 🙌🏻
Dude how much do you camp, LOL, everything is so perfect and clean and neat! Your car and equipment are spotless!
Clean it after each trip. Most kit is fairly new though only had the car, tent etc for a year.
Some people look after their gear lol. No point in putting all this effort into making a decent video of broken down dirty old gear.
Your jimny is your best friend like my Sierra was to me for 7 years!
😎👌🏻 they do feel like part of the family
Great video, must have taken a while to do all the camera positions! Like the way not a word was spoken, silence is not experienced much these days.
Cheers! It’s not too much hassle really I had my iPhone and a GoPro and just left the iPhone in the same place mainly. I’m enjoying sharing the trips 👍
trying to make sure the cameras aren’t occupying my time though, if I can get maybe 20-30 mins out of 30 odd hours that’s ok to show then all good.
Got to make sure it’s relaxing and enjoyable and not a day of work day if you know what I mean 😊
Still can’t think of why me yapping on would be much value to anyone lol so I’m glad you don’t mind the silence. Thanks again for watching.
My point exactly....
Great gentle video. Thankyou for sharing. Your kit is obviously very well thought through and nice to see an Opknel amd Mora doing such great work. As a Defender 110 owner, its really nice to see its now natural successor the Jimny being used in such a versatile way. Loved the fire irons as wel. Manh thanks. Alan L.
Cheers Alan! Appreciate it mate
I love it. A therapeutic meditation everyone should do.
Once every few months is a fantastic reset from busy lives 😊 more often if you can!
That is what I call life. Like his cute ute simple and unassuming, that is how life should be lived. Enjoy time and respect the environment, leave no trace and take nothing but good memories. Clean, good, healthy fun.
“Take nothing but good memories” love that mate thanks!
Lovely car that jimny! Thanx for the video! I loved how you didn't drown it in music and talk like mots people do. I made me feel like I was a part of your trip! Greetings from Norway. (overlanding with a Suzuki XL7 myself)
Thank you! Appreciate the kind words 😊🙌🏼 (happy overlanding!)
Totally agree, most videos have poor editing when it comes to sound, shit house music intros, talking bollocks. I much prefer this. Amazing work I love it.
Alvin J Hunt thx!!
Lovely video, so peaceful and calm. It’s great to see how neatly you pack the Jimny, set up your camp, prep and cook your food etc, so perfect. Then leave with out a trace. Thank you for taking the time to film and share your Jimny camping experiences. 👍😊
You’re welcome Marcus, appreciate you taking the time to watch 🍻
Brilliant vid again!!! Love the place, didn’t know it existed.....also had no idea you could sleep comfortably in a Jimny, we have one of the previous models (our second one as we like them so much) so must try it sometime, thanks for posting again👍
Cheers Mate. 🙌🏼 half the battle with sleeping in it is a good thick mattress. I actually got 7-8 hours sleep. Woke up less times than in the roof tent.
Best thing he when he left . He cleaned as if untouched . That's like a human being. Nice n enjoy
Leave no trace 🤩✌🏻 - thanks for watching
@@OutThereEquipped hero for environment
Loved this video so relaxing to watch. Thank you.
You’re very welcome. Appreciate you watching ✌🏻
You never said A WORD... but then again, YOU DIDN’T NEED TO! Enjoyed every second
Thx! Glad you enjoyed it.
Loved watching this. It's something I would like to do when my kids get older. At the moment, it's just me and the long dog walks alone, on the deserted cliff top walks and beaches where I live.
I love my alone time.
Excellent video.
Thanks mate.
Yeah, alone time is good. Can’t beat some silence to chill out.
Everything is so nice, new, and shiney.
It's still really new. I'd not long had the car last January and covid put bay to a lot of camping this year :)
I like nature&suzuki Jimny Nice your jimny life !
your videos is a way to escape of the routine.
It's so relaxing the ambient sound.
Thanks for watching Gonzalo 👍
Hi I love the silence... it's what you went camping for and why I'm watching and enjoying.
Thank you David! 🙌🏼
Each painting is polite and resonates with the Japanese mind.
ジムニーの本来の使い方だね 素晴らしい
🖤ジムニー 😊
Great video. Loved that there wasn't any music to cover the natural sounds. Can't even go camping here now with a portapottie toilet soon. Such strict rules.
Those jimnys are growing on me. I may trade my mazda in and get one. 👍 They remind me our old land rover defender
😊👍
Just more reliable
Really appreciate the effort to record everything so systematically and perfectly 💯
Thanks 🤩
Mate......absolute quality! Stay safe, aching for more of these amazing little expeditions. Silence is golden, thank you.
Cheers Alvin, appreciate the support mate 😊👍
I love how you arrange your luggage and supplies. 👍🏻
Thanks Azra.
great jimny camper! so cool
😎🙌🏼
Why do i even like this video,,,so calming,,,I love a quiet time...am all by myself and I love it...once i slept in my car,,, without planning it...I live way up in the mountains and it was a cold night damn,,,I couldn't sleep a bit cause it was way to cold,,,and all I had was a blanket,,,it was not enough and it was a old car,,,the heater was busted...but it was quiet an experience...❤...
Loved this video...
Thanks 😀 Sounds like you had a nice mini adventure too. Good fun!
I’ve always said that it’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog. 👍
Really enjoyed this one! I have so much camping stuff to learn 😁👌
Thanks bud. My top tip above all is ear plugs and a good mattress & sleeping bag. The rest of the stuff you see me use are non essential luxuries really :)
I definitely am guilty of taking too much kit but make sure after each little trip I retire stuff I don’t use or rethink it. Just keep experimenting. My goal is to take less and less gear ideally to keep the payload low!
There’s a few jimny camping guides on my website. Just my view on things and certainly not saying I’m an expert of anything, just sharing my experiences so far :)

@@OutThereEquipped that’s awesome! Will check it out 😎. Spend 3 days on a Scooter rally trip last month. Cheap scooter , only brought essentials to survive and sleep in my tent with my 2 buds. Mattress was same type as yours but not even half as fat so not really comfy what so ever.
Also believe you own AS Adventure stocks or something 😁. Tons of material seems to come from that store. Going shopping again tomorrow! Thx a lot for the advice bud! I’m from Belgium by the way. Really appreciate the help. If you wanna learn/understand youtube stats just ask 😊.
Thanks mate!
I'm in Northumberland! Look out for my silver Jimny, you'll know it's me because I made a roof rack out of a spare flatscreen TV mounting bracket!
Haha! Nice one mate 🙌🏼
jimny life is fun!
I'm looking forward to more fun videos in the future.
It is fun :)
Thanks for watching
You need to come to New Zealand bro you can hire jimny fully equipment out for camping 👍🇳🇿
I follow Trekker Adventures on Instagram. They have a Jimny for hire in New Zealand and wow, what a country for camping and overland travel. Stunning place.
How much cost for a days including foods and fuels?
Only just found your channel so I've watched your videos from the latest back. Your set up has certainly come a long way! Awesome gadgets. Loving the videos
Thanks mate. 🥳👍
Lot’s more mods to try. I’m designing and building a roof tent as we speak. Still not sure if it’ll ever make it onto the car but that’s half the fun.
Hope you enjoy the holidays 🍻
Great video!
I was attracted from Japan.
Hello and thank you!! ✌🏻
The way you enjoy your wild life with Jimnny looks perfect and makes me happy. Reminds me of "Songs from the wood".
Cheers from Japan 🤘

Love the little jimny jeep, go anyware without digging big holes with the wheels like a heavy landrover would, no damage you cant even tell u'v been there. Good vidio makes me wana get out camping again.

Excellent, loved the silent communication
Thx :D
Sometimes i always wondering why the forest at ur country is not scary as my forest. Trust me u will not dare to camping alone at the Malaysian jungle 😅
Haha I can only imagine! I bet the sounds are crazy too, perhaps not much sleep.
There’s only humans around to kill you in UK woods and a decent axe is sufficient defence 😉
Nak mampus camping sorang2.kena samun kayap la kau.
Marvelous. What a lovely experience. I love the way you packed everything. So tidy!
Thanks! When I first started camping with my car the most frustrating part was hunting around for things. Organised kit makes the mini trips so much more relaxing😎👍

Nice work. I’ve had my JB74W for just over a year now, 3rd jimny I’ve owned. Picked myself up the ARB 270 Batwing awning, it’s amazing.
Those awnings are great! Got any videos or pictures in action mate?

I had a grand vitara xl used it for camping for a couple of years .looked at the newer version but decided on a xtrail im not tall but i have to get up alot in the night, so no sleeping bag , i have to be quick sometimes so need the room, nice video, nice car the morning shots are beatifull
Cheers Geoff. Mornings are always the best bits :)
A man of few words.....
It’s funny, in person it’s hard to shut me up. I did speak a few times then when editing I realised it was just half drunk nonsense 😜.
Cheers for watching!
Your fine.. when i played your video i don't know if it was my wifi or your artistic flair.. there was a delay or mis sync of sound and movie in first 3 mins which i though was really brilliant.. but like silent movie you the viewer gets to see all the visuals without the talk a bit like watching those black and white or monochrome films where the subject matter is in colour...just watching your prep and relation etc was different which makes it a great watch. I was thinking you eat well for a single camping trio and yet in a way kinda funny or eccentric carefully un packing and re packing everything with care where modern society is in a rush all the time... it was a very refreshing movie.. i guess it was easier for me to put a man with few words on comments and type this comment when i had time to think about it and yeah i can talk a lot too much not in front of a recording camera im a bit self conscious... enjoyed the .movie.
I think your WiFi is making it artistic by a stroke of luck 😉
You’re right about eccentric, careful organisation camping. 😂 it’s great way to put it. I should use that in my about page.
Thanks again mate 🙌🏼
@@OutThereEquipped I was wondering if that was whiskey in one of them bottles. Good vid, thank you.
bronte366 normally would be whiskey, but I don’t mind some rum every now and then 😋👍
Stumbled across this... Very relaxing.
Welcome!
Thought he's paid way too much attention to detail ....then I realised he was Japanese.
You should have gone to Specsavers mate. 🙃
Is he?
I don’t think he is mate.
You’re right I’m an English northerner. A Geordie with a Jimny 😉
Remind me of another UA-cam channel he’s Japanese or is in Korean and whenever he goes out like he pack stuff in the back of his vehicle so neatly the way he did in this video might be a compulsive thing or just a clean slick person 🥰
Wow this is awesome, good taste in vehicles and rum 😎 truly amazing to watch can’t wait to get back out in mine
😷🤙
He’s like an applied version of steve mre reviews.
This is the second vid where I've seen you take your own firewood & sustainably camp out in approved locations without impacting the location ⛺️🤠👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❗️you do shave a lovely fire stick by the way... I noticed that before😎👍. Kraken neat?😯👍 I don't mind it at all, it has a nice Vanilla aftertaste... and it leaves you with a 'lugged' bottle that screams 'do something arty / crafty with the bottle' - I've got two that I now use as floats for my crab pots 🤠👍. Fire anchor is awesome❗️
Yeah Kraken bottles are really cool, my wife stuck a candle in that empty bottle 😂👍
The campsite sells firewood and technically the fire rings are generally left as it's a proper managed site. However, I like to tidy them up as some people leave bits of plastic and metal in them (drives me nuts) and there's something nice about arriving to your plot and it 'feeling' untouched. Each to their own eh 😊
Cheers for watching my videos Billy 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Respect and love from India . The way you leave the place clean !
Thank you!
Very nice. I especially appreciated the complete cleaning of the place when you left, with almost no sign of your stay.
Leave no trace is a good habit 🙌🏼
I use my Chevy Tahoe as camper! Its third row so plenty of room to set bed up. An also having rhe flat center console for a heater buddy! Best nights in the cold!
Yeah that’ll be a nice setup 😊👌
Nice peaceful way! When I look at all the equipment, it makes me wonder how I ever carried all I needed on my cycle tours!
Yeah I take a lot of kit that you really don’t need. But it’s my main hobby so I like to enjoy myself :)
I like how you neatly clean up the area before you leave man ❤️👌👍😃
Big advocate of a clean responsible camp, even when I camp in the commercial campsite I frequent most.
I learned the best practices of 'leave no trace' from @hazeoutdoors channel 😅
Bwahahaha! You crack me up! You take all this extra gear for a nice comfy glamping experience and then pull out a ferro rod to light your fire with! Heck, I was expecting you to whip out a blow torch or something, but that ferro rod was a nice touch of humor! Going all Bushcraft while practically glamping, Ha! Lol, well played!
The reason is because I enjoy the bushcraft process of lighting fires, I even explained in the description as I got some grief on a previous video haha. Anyhow, It’s a best part of the day. Preparing and messing on with the fire. Obviously it’s not a survival situation my camping nights are more comfy than a budget hotel 😜as you quite rightly say ha 👍
Edited coz it sounded arsey, words can be so blunt when they're not meant to be.
p.s. i took an LED christmas tree with me on one trip. Got to get those homely vibes eh
Love everything about this video mate. Esp the jimny and the kraken haha cheers from Malaysia

I have an old 1986 jimny where me and my husband sleep in, we did a 10 day trip in Hokkaido with it. Very lovely. Les luxury but we could enjoy it. Sometimes we made camp and slept under a turb because then we can use a stove in the cold snowy places, but I'm a bit bear scared 😅🐻 especially in Hokkaido
Sounds like fun and the perfect country to enjoy it. Except for any bears 😂
I love your video and your jimny setup. I also want to buy jimny very soon
