the first one was my fav! i love how you didn't go for the stereotypical 80s look with neon colors and patterns and went for the real decor trends of the times! it looks like some real outdated houses i've seen in real life 😂
After the golds, browns, and avocado green of the 70s, the 80s went in the opposite direction. It was very nostalgic for me, having grown up in that time. And the second build reminded me very much of my grandparents’ house.
This was so fun, I love how different they turned out!! I think a fun twist on this idea could be if you spun for an early decade (1850-1950, for example) and built the entire house based on that, and then spun again for a later decade as if it was renovated, so you’d have to keep the exterior style of the original decade but would refit the interior
I have to say, I’ve watched other simmers build videos for years but in recent times its struck me how boring they can be. Every house is the same, it’s all shades of white and beige, the same floor plans, layouts, shells, furniture pieces every time! But Syd is constantly releasing builds that are different, fun, colorful, different aesthetics and challenging and it’s really awesome to see. Syd’s become the only simmer I’ll reliably tune in to every time they upload. Love this build. Keep up the great work!
Love this! I love the 80s home! When we were kids, my brothers and I would take those white plastic chairs and lay them on the ground and pretend we were in a spaceship looking for alien life 😂 I know it’s a little thing but thank you for bringing back a memory!
I love them, especially the ‘50s house! My paternal grandpa’s hobby was bowling and my maternal grandpa’s hobby was building remote control model airplanes, so those elements made me so happy!
I'd like to think that the girl grew up in the house in the 50s and it was passed down to her and she still lives in it in the 80s, she's redone it but kept some of the nostalgic colors and kept a bit of her youth in the attic so she doesn't feel bad about renovating her childhood home
something i noticed about syd’s builds is that she always puts the furniture kinda out in the open and in places i would have never thought looked good (i tend to try to put everything up against a wall or in a corner) but it always works out so well and looks SO good
This was absolutely SO fun!! Thank you so much for all your hard work! Just a list of potential inspirations for more builds like these: biomes (inspired by Sarah Kendall), random adjectives (maybe you randomly generate three adjectives and you have to build a home that encapsulates them all), building material, famous tourist attractions, weather, candy (maybe you could use a wheel with a bunch of popular candy brands and use them to inspire a build. Like, a Sour Patch Kid house would be SO different than a Coffee Crisp house, for example.), random skills/activities in the Sims 4 (like how you included the sprinkler in the first home, could use an often-forgotten activity to inspire a build), birth flowers, nostalgic websites (like MyScene and Club Penguin), Board Games, Canadian provinces, Literary Genre (dystopian, sci-fi, romance, horror, etc.). Just some ideas (some of which are a bit out there but that’s okay lol)
Oh, I LOVE this build. The 80s house made me nostalgic for my grandparents house and I love that you didn’t just default to Memphis style. The wild 80s florals deserve more love!
These were both so well done! It brought back memories of being in my grandmother's kitchens that really warmed my heart. I'd love to see you do a challenge of really old styles like caveman, Victorian, or tribal village. Those might require CC though.
More episodes of House Built please!!!! I’m addicted it gives me architecture and interior designers concepts!!!! You’re good at designing!!! I’m more like your futuristic water glass design !!!!
I feel like the 80s house is a single younger grandma who lives alone but has her grandchildren come there after school because both their parents work which was a new trend in the 80s. They keep her hip and active. And I see the 50s house as a wealthy newlywed house. It looks like the wife got to pick the color scheme and appliances and the husband got to decorate with all his hobbies and interests.
I love how similar but unique they look! Could you do a Hunger games themed build (each room is a different district etc,) or each room/ tiny house is a different subject!!!
I'm impressed it took until the end of your bowling game before you felt the pain or soreness in your arm. I was in a minor car accident years ago, and my dominant arm--though uninjured--was never the same, so whenever I go bowling, it's dead by the fifth throw. I tend to find my second win in the last 3 or 4 throws of the next round, and then I can't go on.
In the 80s bedroom you should have put a desk and some plants in that corner where you put a couch and a coffee table. Because typically an older woman would have had a desk to sit at for writing notes, letters, paying bills, etc. I really love this build and I really love your channel. ❤❤
Wow you were spot on! I'd love to see a 1920s house vs 1970s house using the same shell or it could be fun to do a challenge where you build a house for different major cities (like New York, Paris, Tokyo, etc)
amazing! I can’t pick which one is my fav…80’s makes me feel like i’m being babysat at grandmas and 50’s is making me feel like wearing a poodle skirt!!!
Hi Syd! Love the 2nd edition of this series. Are you planning on doing a second series of the Reality house? (It was my fav sims series and you were a great host :)
hi syd, i just wanted to say that i have only been watching you for just under 2 months but every time i see that you have posted i get so happy, you and your voice calm me down and it just brings me so much joy!! love you sm🩷🩷
Our house was built in the 50s and it had carpet EVERYWHERE!! Our first project was to tear it up and you wouldn’t believe how gorgeous the hardwood floors are!! Literally look up hardwood floors from the 1950s and you’ll see what I’m talking about!!
I love both of them they fit their decades so well you should do a video where each room is a different sitcom only came up with this idea cause I want you to do a room from that’s 70s show lol hope you do 🫶🏼🫶🏼
The 50’s house is giving “wife got to decorate the house however she chose but husband insisted on keeping his bowling decor, and the outside was a compromise to look normal and pleasant to their neighbors”
Those extravagant curtain were spider apartments! Yikes! I hated cleaning the curtains. So many SPIDERS! 80s bedrooms had waterbeds! My parents had a king sized.
Omg I'm early again (It's 3am rn for me 😭) I cant build houses so seeing your builds always makes me feel happy 😂❤ I suck at builds so it's fun seeing yours ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
for garages i always use the garage graffiti canvas from city living, it always just looks better than the window trick for me. i feel like everyone forgets about that item
I would love to see some kind of "every generation is the next decade" legacy challenge. Each time a sim becomes a young adult, they move out to a house decorated in the style of the following decade, and they get a cas makeover accordingly. Maybe starting from the 1910s?
Most 80s homes had carpet everywhere, including the bathroom lol! My bathrooms have Kelly Green carpet. My grandma had carpet in the kitchen at one point. That was in the 90s when she decided to do that for some reason. I always cringed when my cousin would cook and get food all over the floor! 😅
the way i had an old console tv from the 80s growing up and then finally we replaced it in the mid 2000s and put the new tv on the console tv like a tv stand.
These houses turned out amazing!🤩 Maybe for a future video you can make a wheel with all the rooms in the house that needs to be furnished and one wheel with weird/random objects from the Sims and try to make it work in the room that you spin. 🤗
Love these! Seriously great job. The 80s looks so real, not completely just neon. Not that neon isn’t wonderful tho. But this was a really great set of builds
How about the same house in different decades? Like, a family lives in the house in the 60s for example, and 20 years later in the 80s one of the kids inherits the house and renovate it to their tastes, but maybe keeps a few pieces of furniture or some of the old wallpaper or something, and then in the 2000s their kids enherits the house and does the same? How would the same house evolve across time?
love the video syd you never cease to amaze me, i’d love to see you try do each room is a different country, this could be a tiny home series as well x
not sure if you've had this suggestion before, but i thought of a fun (maybe difficult?) build challenge. :) i guess i'm not even sure if it's possible or feasible? how about making a house but each room is based on a different emotion! so a pink room would have items in it that would give flirty moodlets. a red room would have items in it that would give angry moodlets. a lime green room would have items that would give energized moodlets. you get the idea. :) you pick the room, you pick the emotion!
I keep thinking about this, my grandma was 93 when she passed in December, meaning she was 20 in the 50’s and 50 in the 80’s.. that’s insane 50 in the 80’s ?!? She lived through so many’s trends
which house was your favourite:)?
watch the aesthetics version of this challenge here: ua-cam.com/video/X5A_ZODEt3w/v-deo.html
The second one was my fav!
i love the first
Both sent me back in time! the second one I felt my grandma, the first was pretty much the rich people in that time lol
the first one was my fav! i love how you didn't go for the stereotypical 80s look with neon colors and patterns and went for the real decor trends of the times! it looks like some real outdated houses i've seen in real life 😂

It's giving wandavision. You nailed the decades!
4:22 No you're not weird about doors!!!! I remember Trick or Treating - some doors were so impressive and really made the house I would go to LOL.
I usually look at the door first, especially if its interesting or pretty!
Great idea!
Love this idea
21:15 Bowling Night and Get Famous coming in CLUTCH for the 50s house! 😊💖
who gives af about the superbowl guys, syd just posted!
yess!!! (but also lets go chiefs)❤️
I don't even watch superbowl but i definitely watch her videos. 😊
@@sydmac We be rooting for The Chiefs because of Taylor 😂 btw I love all your video’s ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
No one outside us cares about that anyway
THE SUPER BOWL IS BY HAPPENING RIGHT NOW??
Well it’s not like I was going to watch any more than the halftime show
The amount of dopamine I get when Syd uploads 🫠🫠🫠🫠
Man, you brought me to my nana's house with that 80s one! I bet the 50s one was like her nana's, too! So cool
I have to say, I’ve watched other simmers build videos for years but in recent times its struck me how boring they can be. Every house is the same, it’s all shades of white and beige, the same floor plans, layouts, shells, furniture pieces every time! I have an idea-old lady in the 80’s was the same younger lady in the 50’s and decided to renovate her entire house because new decade, new her!
I had no idea my grandmothers home was totally stuck in the 80s but WOW that was a hit of nostalgia
I'd like to think that the girl grew up in the house in the 50s and it was passed down to her and she still lives in it in the 80s, she's redone it but kept some of the nostalgic colors and kept a bit of her youth in the attic so she doesn't feel bad about renovating her childhood home

I love the 80's house, makes me think of my grandma's house when I was a kid. Very warm, cozy, comfy feeling.
As someone growing up in the 80s, you did good! Especially with the taupes/dusty pinks and the clutter!
You should absolutely do a CAS video for era based sims for these houses 🤭
Why is it that 80’s house gave such a cozy nostalgia vibe? I love how you captured the essence of both themes 💕
The '80s house, especially the back yard, brought back so many memories of spending the summer with my cousins
wasn't expecting to love the 80s one as much as i did. it was amazing
Love this! I'd like to see this challenge again - maybe with tiny homes?
Your 80’s house reminded me so much of Back to the Future! You’re so talented at building houses in the Sims! I’m jealous!
Putting a TV on a glass coffee table? I can hear every 80s mom and grandma shrill starting up. LOL
Just some ideas (some of which are a bit out there but that’s okay lol)
My grandparents had a matching teal toilet and bathtub/shower for almost all of my childhood.
Fond memories of freezing cold teal ceramic 🤣
Oh, I LOVE this build. The 80s house made me nostalgic for my grandparents house and I love that you didn’t just default to Memphis style. The wild 80s florals deserve more love!

The 80's house was bringing me so many Grandma Grandpa vibes. I usually would say 50's but you did so goo that this 80's place really made my day.
I feel like the 80s house is a single younger grandma who lives alone but has her grandchildren come there after school because both their parents work which was a new trend in the 80s. They keep her hip and active. And I see the 50s house as a wealthy newlywed house. It looks like the wife got to pick the color scheme and appliances and the husband got to decorate with all his hobbies and interests.
one of the references being blanche deveroux's bedroom made my heart so happy because the golden girls is my favorite show of all time
I love how similar but unique they look! Could you do a Hunger games themed build (each room is a different district etc,) or each room/ tiny house is a different subject!!!
these are the fun aunts house 🥹💛maybe she designs fashion and that’s why she has so much seating in her room
The 80s house looks so lived-in and comfy! My grandma's house has a vibe like this maybe that's why I'm drawn into it
The 80s house!! My personal style is much closer to the 50s house but you absolutely popped off on the 80s pattern-mixing styling.
I feel you about the door obsession. & funny enough, I've had the same project and I loved it so much! I'm still taking tons of door-pictures. 😂
I live in a house from 1955, and that divider in the kitchen is the PERFECT detail! They loved beautiful dividers 🥰
The 80s bedroom is giving Golden girls vibes and I love it! 🤩
How convenient you get a 1950s build the exact same time my hubby is also playing fallout 4 😂 I will definitely be downloading this build 😊
completely off topic but syd you'd look SO good with shorter hair 😍
Wait she wouuld!! Omg you've opened my eyes.
She's so pretty I'm sure she could pull off any hairstyle
Omg the vintage glamour silver clock is the EXACT one my grandparents had!!
The 50s house is TO DIE FOR. I adore it, amazing job on both, as usual 👏
Eyy, early, how perfect! I love watching your videos to wind down before sleep, and I JUST crawled into bed. 😊❤
I'm so glad you went for fancy ruffles 80s and not neon 80s! You nailed it!
In the 80s bedroom you should have put a desk and some plants in that corner where you put a couch and a coffee table. Because typically an older woman would have had a desk to sit at for writing notes, letters, paying bills, etc.
I really love this build and I really love your channel. ❤❤
The 80’s turned out so good. But the 50’s has my heart. I would live in that one. Reminds me of Pop’s house and all of his siblings.
I love the 50s house! The colours look so good together
the 80s one to me is like a grandma who's grandchildren often comes to visit :) and the 50s one is just sooo
Wow you were spot on! I'd love to see a 1920s house vs 1970s house using the same shell or it could be fun to do a challenge where you build a house for different major cities (like New York, Paris, Tokyo, etc)
you know its a good day when syd potes
potes
you're so good at representing decades !! both houses turned out amazing
I’m from the UK and my Nan recently updated her 70s bathroom, it was literally all green!! Green sink, bath and toilet! We were so sad to see it go 🥲
The 80"s house is screaming Golden Girls to me
I'd love to see a monochrome build challenge! Like maybe you spin a wheel and try to make each room and its decor entirely one color?
This whole video reminds me of Back to the Future, I feel like both houses could fit perfectly in the first movie
The 80s house reminded me so much of the Golden Girls and I love it 💛💛💛
Syd you somehow managed to perfectly recreate my grandparents house for the 80s (at least the interior) and I am very impressed😂
amazing! I can’t pick which one is my fav…80’s makes me feel like i’m being babysat at grandmas and 50’s is making me feel like wearing a poodle skirt!!!
Please make this a series! Like keep going back and doing all the decades!! ❤
80's are definitely more up my alley
You made these decades look so good! My favorite has to be the 50s though!
Basement Treasures tv would’ve been perfect for the 80s house. And the couch!
Our house was built in the 50s and it had carpet EVERYWHERE!! Our first project was to tear it up and you wouldn’t believe how gorgeous the hardwood floors are!! Literally look up hardwood floors from the 1950s and you’ll see what I’m talking about!!
you always have the most creative video ideas! makes me wish i were a better builder 😂
The 50s is my favorite! Thanks for a new build!
i would love to see a cas video doing the owners of those houses!!!! love the video as always syd!!! ❤❤❤
So excited when you post
The 80s one was spot on!
I love this kind of content!! Decades, esthetics, vibes, color schemes... more! :D
Those extravagant curtain were spider apartments! Yikes! I hated cleaning the curtains. So many SPIDERS! 80s bedrooms had waterbeds! My parents had a king sized.
i could watch a million of this style video from syd!!!
Omg I'm early again (It's 3am rn for me 😭)
I cant build houses so seeing your builds always makes me feel happy 😂❤ I suck at builds so it's fun seeing yours ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
for garages i always use the garage graffiti canvas from city living, it always just looks better than the window trick for me. i feel like everyone forgets about that item
The windows at the top are so cool!
Everything you build is just magnificent.
Love this! Also, as a photographer, I can attest, door photos are fun.
I would love to see some kind of "every generation is the next decade" legacy challenge. Each time a sim becomes a young adult, they move out to a house decorated in the style of the following decade, and they get a cas makeover accordingly. Maybe starting from the 1910s?
One of the houses I lived in growing up gad a pink toilet and tub, and I had no concept of 'dated decor at that age so I thought it was so cool 😄
Oh! Doing the same challenge but keeping one house base game and the other house has to have all the packs would be fun to see!
When I saw the decades you were working with, all I could think was "Back to the Future"
the way i had an old console tv from the 80s growing up and then finally we replaced it in the mid 2000s and put the new tv on the console tv like a tv stand.
These houses turned out amazing!🤩
Maybe for a future video you can make a wheel with all the rooms in the house that needs to be furnished and one wheel with weird/random objects from the Sims and try to make it work in the room that you spin. 🤗
I adore your videos so much, they heal my depression
Love these! Seriously great job. The 80s looks so real, not completely just neon. Not that neon isn’t wonderful tho. But this was a really great set of builds

you’re so talented 😢🤎
Nailed it as always Syd! Hope youre settling in to your new home well too!
love the video syd you never cease to amaze me, i’d love to see you try do each room is a different country, this could be a tiny home series as well x
not sure if you've had this suggestion before, but i thought of a fun (maybe difficult?) build challenge.
We have a pink bathtub and toilet in my house. The sink and shower walls are pink marble too and we love it because it's the "girl's bathroom"
You should make a video with every room is based off a sims 4 painting or rug
I think she has w the painting
love the idea!!!
I keep thinking about this, my grandma was 93 when she passed in December, meaning she was 20 in the 50’s and 50 in the 80’s.. that’s insane 50 in the 80’s ?!? She lived through so many’s trends
