merci Rae Andrews, vos touches spontanées donnent de la vie à ce tableau, vous n'hésitez pas à jouer avec toutes les couleurs, et les contrastes et les traits vigoureux structurent le tableau: I love this ! Me donne envie de peindre a french bouquet ⚘
I will watch every video you post , so please do upload more! it's about getting an instinctive feel for how you work and translating it into how I work . I'm self taught, can't say I'm talented but stubborn enough not to give up since it's so much fun!
I watch many painting videos Your camera work so closely shows the brush work I find this lacking in most painting videos Your explanation of what you are doing, how they effect the painting especially the viewers eye and to say what colours you use is so helpful More videos please!!!
such amazing color combinations and skillfull negative painting...lost and found edges...loose strokes...everything I still want and need to master...a must watch...over and over...thanks for sharing
Beautiful ❤ I'm a beginner in a way. I haven't used masking fluid yet So, that's what I will practice today. Thank you for your wonderful tutorial/ video ❤
Excellent tutorial! It's so important to hear what is going on in an artist's mind when they are painting. That is where so many non-verbal tutorials totally fail. I want to learn --- not copy. Thank-you!
Absolutely stunning. You make it look easy but it’s really just thinking it thru. I follow you on FB. Your colors are wonderful. Thank you for these incredible videos. .
Thank you for those words.. and yes, it really is about visualizing and thinking the image through as you said. Sometimes it doesn’t turn out the way you originally imagined it, but that’s okay as well, I love to let the painting take me on that journey.
Lovely style of painting,. Great effects...i love the looseness of the style and will definitely try to incorporate it in my future efforts....i love the idea of the brush "dancing"through it all.... You use the word so affectionately.... Creates an image that one wants to try.... Thanks
Thank you Sandy, glad you liked it. I might do a carnation in a future tutorial, but for the moment it is not lined up. I will keep it in mind..My next floral is coming up though, so stay tuned.
What an amazing tutorial, I love your style of painting. I am looking at your list of supplies and I don't see the blue you used to create this gorgeous painting, would you mind telling me the color and brand that you used. Moving forward, It would be helpful if you would specify the color and brand of paint you used so we can ensure that we get the same colors. My experience is that paints with the same name will vary by manufacturer. Thank you for sharing.
At the beginning of this video is a quick rundown of my colors. I use a mix of Daniel Smith and Winsor and Newton brands and the blue is Turquoise from Lucas.. I love this color! Hope this helps, thanks for the comment😊
I love the fluid expressive and loose way of your style. I see from your website that you have had art schools but was wondering if you have any online art courses teaching this method in greater detail. I have been a realistic artist in watercolor but find that my loose watercolor tends to not be what I envision. So, i return to my original work wishing that I could find a way to incorporate the loose style into my work. I paint abstract designs in acrylic with no problem but watercolor just turns into a muddy mess.
Hello Pam and thank you for your comment. I do teach online lessons on zoom but I am taking a break from teaching at the moment because I’ve been full on teaching for nearly 3 years on zoom and I needed a bit of a rest. If you are interested in any pre-recorded lessons that I’ve done I can always get them to you via email but they are not for free. So if you are interested contact me via my website and I can get your email address that way. My website address is raeandrews.com
What brand or brands of paint do you use? I've noticed some artists you this color from this brand, and another color from another brand. Others seem to use only 1 or 2 brands, exclusively. Thank you for sharing this. This painting is gorgeous and made me smile over and over. I tend to watch the same video multiple times, when I really like the technique and results! Linda
Hi there, thanks for your question.. I mix my brands now. I used to use mostly Winsor and Newton, but now use a lot of Daniel Smith colors.. I also sometimes use Lucas colors although these I use rarely. These are the three brands I mainly fall back on.. I am glad you like this video.. thanks for commenting.. 🙏
Hi Carolynne, the video was sped up a little to fit into the under 15 minute conversation nstraints for UA-cam, but I do work very fast just the same. Thanks for your comment😊
Thank you for the feedback. This was one of my very earliest videos, and I was still learning about focusing the camera on particular areas. I hope the end, though you got some idea of the end result.
Rae Andrews tutorials are out of this world ,love her style .
Thank you for that wonderful comment Gowri..so glad you are enjoying the tutorials..😊

Ms. Andrews, your paintings inspire me so. Do you teach online classes? I would love to learn more from you!
Hi Roberta, at this stage no I don’t have online options, but I am working on it, so stay tuned. Meanwhile I hope these videos help in your journey.

My daggers came in a few days ago. Almost afraid to begin. Must remember to leave a lot of white.
Great .
Now get busy..😊😊
Which colour do you use for dark colour ( negative colour) or which colours do you use for make dark colour ?
I believe that was a mixture of two dark complementary colors.. Carbazole Violet and Undersea green made by Daniel Smith.

I think that you used ink ,is that true ? Thanks in advance
No ink.. this is all watercolor.. thanks for the comment Andre
A bit difficult as the entire painting was never shown. Harder to understand the composition that way. Lovely work though.
