Really good collection of photos; my grandfather was a shepherd for 41 years on a farm just out by Tibbermore 1935-1976 (one of the Hay & Sons farms); I am 61 now, memories of popping into Cherrybank at weekend with my Grandad so he could get papers and smokes and I would always get a little treat from the shop there; my Dad went to Perth Acadamy and my Mum was from Madderty and trained as a nurse in Perth.
Thanks for posting these beautiful old pictures that took me on a trip down memory lane. Born and lived in Perth until I was 9 years of age, then England and then Australia. My dad used to work at the PRI. How times were so different then. Best wishes.
Just come across this. In the picture of boats on the South Inch there's a man with dungarees and a cap. I remember him....he'd call out "Come in number 3" and " Ca' canny laddie". I left Scotland when I was 8 (about 58 years ago) and have lived in London most of my life but still remember the boats on that lake and on the Tay.
I loved these photos and trying to work out where each one was. Thank you. The only one I noticed was the photo of Campbell Fish, thus image was from the Edinburgh shop. Campbells has only been in Perth for around 15 years.
Absolutely WONDERFUL photos!! My ancestors were Donaldsons from Perth, traced back to 1622. According to my DNA my ancestors were originally McDonalds & Macdonalds. I love looking back into these photographic time capsules that you have put together. Thank you for your obvious labor of love. The music is also unique as it reminds me of the 50's here in Pensacola, Florida, USA.
This was fab, thanks for your efforts. I was especially pleased to see The Tulloch Institute as it was when it was a school. I was hoping I might see more pictures of Tulloch as I believe it was built as a model village by John Pullar. Anyway, Thanks again.
Kacy Watson me too, born 1981 and I can remember it as a far better place than it is now. You only have to look at the photos from the past to see how much nicer it once was. It’s nothing but boarded up shops and undesirables now.
The ariel photograph 11 mins into this video highlighting muirton park couldn't have been taken in 1934 but earlier the reason for this observation is that if you go to the houses that you see in unity terrace you would also see the jeanfield end of the cemetery . My Granny was buried there 1929 her grave and that part of the cemetery would be seen in the photo if it had been taken in 1934. Muirton park was opened in 1924. Maybe the picture is a celebration of it's opening
@@typhoon5445 Perth will never be as it was, the days of having to go home when it got dark when the street lights came on are long gone. The modern generation with mobile phones and computer games will never see how Perth used to be like.
Stewart you can get a lot if you go up stairs to libary and just ask for old PAs …theres a small charge now but never used to be ive been getting them for years
Veronica Pyjko , no it’s actually kinnoul street running into Atholl street. The old St. John’s R.C. primary school would have been in view. Looks like it was before Old Muirton was even built before 2nd world war?

Thanks so much for posting this - really enjoyed it! Perth looked so much better way back when!
rssmdb1 no, Perth is way better now.
Citizen of Perth Scotland since 1991 born & raised.
Kacy Watson , hardly there wasn’t any junkies hanging around the town centre back then. Or pollution, just the odd horse shit on the roads

Originally from Perth and just love these photos. Do you know where I can buy a book of old photos of Perth. Just live my hometown.
.
Just tried looking online for you but can't seem to find anything.....if i find anything i will post a link.
Wow my school is in one of the pictures it’s crazy
Do you happen to know what street the original Wm Low (pictured at 22:45) was on? Tried to match up the buildings on Google Streetview to no avail.
Looks like the old high street to me
South street, where the Auld Hoose pub is on the corner across from Tesco
Wm. Low - at the site of Debenhams on The High St. Checked it out yesterday - the building above True Form on the corner is is exactly the same.
Brilliant video, where on earth did you get all of these old photos from? also perth hasnt really changed much over the years has it.
Sadly its a total dump now

14:31 , someone tell me where this is ? It’s not old Muirton is it ?
I think it’s north muirton

What happened to the ornate, beautiful building of Dewars. Did they pull it down?
Mark Bartlett yes, it's an ice rink now, kept the name though. It's called The Dewars Centre.

@@asticou04 Yes they did.
Great photos, but I had to turn the music off cos I couldn't listen to whoever that is destroying those tunes.
I'm sorry the music didn't suit your taste, just wanted to put some older music with a modern twist to it. My apologies
I DONT RECOGNISE ANYTHING. Is this even Perth Scotland!?
Seriously? I've only lived in Perth since the 80s but it's all perfectly recognisable to me .
It's hardly changed.
