Overboard Trailer - Directed by Garry Marshall and starring Kurt Russell, Edward Herrmann, Mike Hagerty, Roddy McDowall, Jared Rushton. A kind of African Queen gone berserk, "Overboard" chronicles the misadventures of a bitchy society queen (Goldi Hawn) who lives on a luxury yacht with her class-conscious husband (Edward Herrmann) and put-upon butler (Roddy McDowall). When the yacht docks for "repairs" (that is, for more closet space), Hawn refuses to pay the local carpenter (Kurt Russel) because he used oak instead of cedar for the closets. The argument results in Hawn pushing Russel overboard. Hawn falls overboard herself and is rescued by a garbage scow. However, she remembers nothing of her pampered past. Through a series of high-energy, high-wit escapades the two protagonists find each other, the kids turn into lollipops and all is well that ends well.

I have always loved this movie...it's one of my all time classic movies...im 50 now an still love it today.. I was 19 when this came out an I got my 3 children to watch it an they have grown up with it an love it too so much... one movie you can watch over an over an never get sick of..I love movies like that. And that's when you know it's a fantastic movie when you can watch it so many times...

This movie is underrated, a classic! And this is probably Goldie Hawn's best acting. She was REALLY good in this role
I think one reason is that the '80s was the best decade for American comedies and 1987 was a particularly good year. This movie just got lost in the shuffle.

I think it’s good that they are making a remake so that younger generations see it and learn that it’s a remake then watch the original. Movies like these age and die off but with a remake it’s bringing it back into light.

Im a 21 year old who adores this film, my kids will know this film, its such an underrated masterpiece.
This movie (in my humble opinion) captures the essence of the time in which it was set. Rich and poor versus man and woman, their roles in society and the part that they played in this film. There is no right or wrong here. Just a portrayal of a story that happened once upon a time. Romantic, funny, memorable, comforting! Should there be a remake with roles reversed, I wish them Godspeed!

You know what I love about the original- her character is really unhappy when she is rich. The new one makes the rich guy seem really in love with his life, whereas Goldies's Joanna is unfulfilled even in the trailer.

The original movie as the best by far I love that movie it's a true classic brings back memories when I was a young teenager great times cuz I have my whole family at the time my parents and my brothers and great times we still see movies all the time young kids with no worries awesome movie great chemistry no drugs and violence and all that crap. It's too bad because they will never be able to make movies like that again I love the 80s me and my brother used to see like three or four movies a week at that time we were young at the movie theaters in Albuquerque New Mexico USA great time to be a kid great movies and great music not all that rap gang banger crap good family movies good values and morals at the end of the movies good values.

This movie was fantastic. I'm 44 and someone (a parent) recorded it from HBO in probanly '88 and my younger brothers and I watched it constantly. For such a ridiculous premise it felt strangely grounded and still hilarious. Kurt and Goldie's chemistry.alone could have carried it if it was half as good a movie.

I’ve come to cherish movies like this that are absolutely hilarious but could never get made today. The PC-crowd would be complaining about a cisgendered man robbing a strong woman of her agency and forcing her into maternity and a heteronormative marriage. Humor is dying a slow, painful death in this country.
