This is probably the cutest anime that came out this year, I'm really happy you're watching it.

Though the setting of this story is in a fictional world, it’s similar to the Cold War period around the 60s. So you see their society being very conservative; to enter this prestigious private school, having both parents will give the child the proper financial and familial environment (single parents may not necessarily have the time and energy to provide proper upbringing for the child, for instance). You see the conservatism in other areas, such as how this episode’s villain, Edgar, was trying to expose the Prime Minister of wearing a toupee, which is apparently so scandalous that he’d have to retire. (And in case you didn’t catch it, Twilight was dating Edgar’s daughter Karen as part of his information gathering method.)
When an anime that features a spy, an assassin, explosions, mob style executions, fatal car crashes, and dogs trained to carry explosives and blow themselves up to carry out murders is the most wholesome thing you've seen in years.
I think it’s adorable that whether he realized it or not his protective parental instincts kicked in without him even realizing it. Hehe

You don't hear people reference Sailor Moon, much anymore, but that's a very good comparison. Another awesome thing about this anime is the fluid animation, which is not common to every show:)
If you ever want another wholesome anime to react too, I highly recommend love is war. It's another absolute banger, 10/10
This show is really good, everything is good in it, well built characters an interesting and catchy story, a perfect balance of comedy, action, drama in a realistic context. Is like the combination of "The Americans" and "Get Smart". Your reaction is the natural one.
A less well-known but wholesome anime I would recommend is My Roommate Is A Cat.
I was surprised how much I enjoyed it.
The animation studio is wit .That's the same studio which animated aot from season 1 to 3...
Ah I can totally see some similarities!
Somehow, all the assassinations, sanctioned torture, espionage, and societal unrest make this anime *more* wholesome by contrast and conjunction with how well the Forger family works out despite everything.

I will answer a couple of your questions in the anime:
This anime setting is not modern day. Imagine this is East Germany in the Cold War. The two country is Westalist and Ostania, is the fictional counter part of West Germany and East Germany (tentatively Westdeutschland and Ostdeutschland). This is why the state of orphanage and the adoption system are like that. It also explain the outdated mindset of needing both parents for a prestigious school because one parent will be deemed as a "broken family".
About the toupee. if you watch from beginning, Twilight stole a couple of photos. It is the evident that the Foreign Minister (Anakin Haywood) is wearing a toupee. The bad guy, Edgar (Karen's father), was trying to get those photos to force the Minister to retire. But Twilight stole those photos, and Edgar has been trying to get them back ever since.
It is an elite school. They need committed parents; single parent is just not enough whether the average person would support this issue is not a factor.
Anya is way more adorable than Rini (who, for me, was just an annoying little snot). Although the pink hair is a bit reminiscent of her.
You're really gonna enjoy this show, I think. Especially once you meet "Mama".

You won't have to worry about having too much for very long as this first part of spy x family is only 12 episodes and it's been 10 so far so only 2 episodes left until the 2nd part comes in the fall

There are so many great anime out there. You need to try different genres and figure out which are the best for you. As I have grown older (34, married with kids) slice of life and shoujo anime have become more appealing to me but regardless there is anime for everyone.

if it becomes to much for you to handle. i recommend you stick with Spy X Family and Death Note. they are very good anime. i like. the other one. not so much.
This series is so good but SO hard got get up on UA-cam without copyright. I filmed episode 3 and could not get it on UA-cam ;( But I am loving Death Note and continuing with it :)
@@ceevibezz yes. have to careful with the UA-cam's copyright BS. might want to try a different way when you upload your videos. i learn from others on how they escape UA-cam's copyright . i seen some people put black bars over the picture showing the anime and / or uploading anime with no audio sound. good luck. by the way, glad you are enjoying Death Note. :)
