Good thing they did not show their faces since the claim of printing to glass is a fraud. They are mounting a plastic acrylic printout to a glass fronting. How lame is that? Ink will run off of any glass surface without etching by a art glass pro before hand.
OK, they are printing to a thin sheet of Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), also known as acrylic or acrylic glass and then mounting the sheet to a traditional silica-based glass that the public recognizes as the glass used in framing photos. While one could argue in court that acrylic glass is technically a glassy substance, the industry would probably lose the case. If you put a sheet of acrylic next to a tradition sheet of silica based glass and ask people which material is "glass" 100% would select the sheet of traditional glass. How many people have studied polymer chemistry? Many claims cases like this are lost in court since, while being technologically correct, they are so misleading. There is an entire industry misleading the public here. Fracture is claiming "We'll print your images directly on glass." This is misleading to the non-technical public. The claim would be far less compelling if they said "We'll print your images directly on a sheet of acrylic glass" That statement would be far more informative and less misleading. But who would buy such a mundane product? Most, if not all, of the public think of glass in the context of silica-based glass. Importantly, there is little functional difference between printing to acrylic glass and mounting the sheet to traditional glass than printing an image on an ink jet using photo quality paper and mounting that with to a piece of glass. Except the industry charges 40 bucks for a 10 x 7 that you can do your self at home and achieve the same aesthetic effect for a fraction of the cost. With a little practice and a roll of double stick tape you can save a lot of money and no one will notice the difference.
