Naw Man LSU was still brand new to the offense and raw and there defense was not fully developed. Texas still had some confidence at the time and no injurys. i see texas fans make this excuse all the time i guarantee you if LSU plays Texas ten games later Texas doesnt even sniff the 50 yard line.

Texas tried everything non-football related in the hopes of keeping the game close: 1) Disabling the A/C units in LSU's locker room, 2) Spreading the rumor that K'Lavon Chaisson's mom had a medical emergency before the game (Texas and LSU were locked in a nasty recruiting battle for him in high school), 3) Making LSU walk 3 blocks to the stadium and lining Texas fans up 3 feet from the players to try and intimidate them, 4) seated LSU fans in the nosebleed section, which SEC schools wouldn't even do, and made available only half the tickets that were offered to Louisiana Tech just the week prior.

This game is when I knew LSU is going to have such a strong season.
As an LSU fan myself before the season I said this game and Bama were the only 2 games I was worried about. But I was wayyyyyy more shocked at the Bama game. To be fair hanging 50 on both of these teams should be a testament to the dominance that season. Geaux Tigahs
As another LSU fan I was so nervous about this game when the season just started. But when LSU made that LEGENDARY 3rd & 17 play, I KNEW LSU would have a chance. GEAUX TIGERS 🐯

That LSU 3rd & 17 with two minutes left in the game was remarkable. Most coaches get conservative and run a draw or a screen bc they’re on the road and up by 6. Coach O and the staff stayed aggressive and they deserve a lot of credit.

I will never see a college football season as good as this one. It was utterly flawless. No wonder 2 years into the pros Joe was already in the Superbowl.
The smile on Herman's face when he talks to Joe after the game is so pure. Imagine recruiting Burrow two schools back, only to face him in a different conference on different teams than they both started, and at the beginning of one of the best college seasons by a team ever. Helluva game.

This game was so unorthodox, it’s almost like you could see LSU as a member of the Big 12 and not think anything of it. Definitely a classic.
That was the game where I was introduced to Joe Burrow. I didn’t know who he was before this. My dad’s side of the family are Longhorns fans BTW. After seeing Burrow torch that team, I knew he was gonna be something special and probably end up in the pros, which would eventually become a reality months after winning the national title.
If Texas hadn’t brought a blitz on 3rd and 17, Texas would’ve had a game winning drive most likely as no team could stop the other that night
Fr, also if Baby Sam could connect with Ingram on a 2 yard pass things could’ve been different too. Ingram still should’ve caught the ball, but cmon Sam

I remember being so mad, but I was like, “Dang, this Joe Burrow is really good.”
In 2-3 more years, come back to this game and see how much NFL talent was on this field.
I’m a Horns fan, this particular season had a mediocre finish due to a slew of injuries. But, this game was when Texas was at it strongest, and after that loss I fully believed LSU would win the title.

I was hyped for the rematch back in Baton Rouge. I was so mad when they canceled non-conference. Would have been a good game.
My dad was the world's biggest LSU fan. It had been decades since he went to a game, but we braved the 100° heat to watch one of the best games of the year.
I remember watching this one I instantly knew it was our year. When we stopped them in the red zone over and over it was proof our defense was just as much there as our offense. We were stacked af and it was GLORIOUS!! GEAUX TIGERS!!! #STTDB
One of the few games I've been to in person and boy was it exciting. The stadium was absolutely packed and the crowds were electric. That one game made the Texas student pass absolutely worth it.

The first time Jefferson dropped that “Griddy” on em”!
We had the game winning TD but Ingram dropped the wide open pass about 3 yards out. It wouldn’t have mattered if we won though, LSU would have just “had to figure out who they were” and our win wouldn’t count to anyone but Texas fans. That’s just how it goes around here🤷🏻♂️
When Ingram dropped that ball he lost all confidence for the rest of the season with it

Clyde Edwards-Helaire was sooooo undertalked about on that LSU squad. Obviously they were loaded w Burrow, Chase, Jefferson, Thad Moss, and Marshall, but CEH did everything so well for that team. He’d pass block, run inside, run outside, catch check downs, and just straight up beat linebackers on routes. That kid was something else

That year was the most magical year for being an LSU fan. I stayed humble until the last 3 games of the season including the BCS and knew they were unbeatable.

Two touchdowns left on the board in the beginning of the game... One of many self inflicted coaching staff blunders during the Herman era. DBs always off the ball, no pressure on the QB.
This popped up in my memories today. Live in SA dropped $700 for a 4th row 10 yard line seat. Got to watch Burrow absolutely destroy our defense. Didn’t even know the LSU qb name before the game. It’s crazy to look back knowing you watched greatness in action without even knowing it.
Yeah I don’t think this was a “stun”. They were both in the top 10 and both good teams. I went to game day in Austin for this game and it was a blast.

Texas would’ve finished 12-2 in 2019 if we hadn’t missed Sterns, Johnson, and most the oline for half the season. That Texas team was great. The other Texas teams in the last 10 years? Not so much.

As a Texas fan, this was a bitter sweet night. Talk about ball players on the field for both teams!!! Legendary game. Was super proud my boys fought harder than anybody did that year against LSU. If Keontay doesn’t drop an easy touchdown and if Texas don’t blitz from fucking Canada, Texas might win and season might be totally different. Felt LSU exposed Texas for the rest of the season. Joe Burrow looked like fucking Tom Brady. Amazing game.
