Our Windshield Protection Film was actually launched in November 2018 :) Great video Blackout team! Look forward to seeing a long term review ! Cheers 👍
I’ve been thinking about putting a product like this on my vehicle. My question is. How do you care for this product? How do you clean it? I live in a colder climate. If there’s snow or ice on the windshield. Do you only use your defrost to remove it? Or Can you use an ice scraper? I would think that would not be a good idea. Would there be any chance you guys can do some type of video on the care and maintenance? I know this particular product shown in this video is brand new to you. But it would be nice if you could elaborate on the every day use and care for the windshield protection films.
Hi, the maintenance for windshield protection film is very crutial. We make good films, installers do decent installation and the rest goes to the car owner for maintaining the film. Our film actually holds up well in the cold climates, especially since the windshield proteciton film would help with the moist on the windshield due to temperature difference. Of courese you want to remove the snow or ice accordingly. We recommend using soft/silicon ice scraper to eliminate scratching the film. Overall maintenance and care instruciton for windshield protection film: 1. Avoid exposure to contamination for long periods of time. Remove dust or rain marks from the film surface ASAP, especially in hot weathers. 2. Regular car wash! 3. Avoid sharp objects, direct high-pressure water (stay at least 3ft [1m] away when spraying), harsh chemicals, hard brushes, etc. 4. Use the wipers in manual mode to minimize use.
Hi, do you know have any suggestions on how to stop the wiper blades bouncing not gliding smoothly on a windshield protection film while driving in rain?
@@BlackoutTinting would it make sense to clean the film such that the hydrophobic effect is reduced and hence there is enough water left on the film surface for the wiper to glide smoothly?
This wiper chattering can be seen on some cars according to different windshield angles. For temporary fix we recommend wax, coating or washer fluids. For wiper care we also recommend: 1. Replacing wipers once every 3-6 month. 2. You can also try switching to silicon wipers. 3. Limit unnecessary wiper usage. 4. Refrain from using wipers on auto-mode. (so you haveenough water underneath wipers).
Can you put these on a 1 yr. -old windshield that has microchips? Can't feel them with my nails. I can only see them, esp. if the sun shines a certain way or at night.
Hey!! I would like to know about your ppf installation. Can you tell me how ppf was applied around parking sensors? Were the sensors covered by the ppf or were they cut out. If the sensors are covered, do you have any problem in the functioning of the sensors or does they go crazy or fail to function properly. Thanks in advance.
Quick question, do you have any suggestions how to maintain a windshield protection? I recently installed a stc windshield protection and I noticed that its hydrophobic features doesn’t last. Any recommendation to maintain its hydrophobic. Thanks!
We don’t necessarily think a super fast install is the best, the last product we tried out with a fast install ended up being one we could recommend the least. We had a lot of trouble with bray in the past so we may have to try it again.
I have exoshield on my car. I had it first installed 4 years ago and it did a horrible job protecting the windshield. I recently had it replaced only to find out that all of the nicks I thought were just on the old exoshield, actually nicked my windshield too. The recent install also was done by the same guy but I have a ton of dust and line scratches. I plan to have Safelight replace my windshield as I can't see anything if facing the sun. What would you recommend for windshield protection for sunny Colorado where there are small rocks and sand kicked up to hit a windshield all winter long?
The only film we can recommend right now is by Ultrafit. Not sure how long your exoshield was on but most films need replaced after a year or so if they see daily use. Ultrafit takes some skill to install but is fairly optically clear while being strong. There is no film that checks all the boxes, good luck with the next one though.

Thanks for the update! We're surprised it's been a secret to us for so long, thanks for reaching out!
Do you have any special deals right now? I want to use this on my car and make a video also 👍
Awesome! Definitely interested in how it holds up.
🤞
Likewise. As the owner of several SAABs I worry about availability of replacement windshields (and other windows TBH)
@@BlackoutTinting please update with your review. thank you .
@@enzoh7763 we did an update after this, please check out windshield protection playlist

Saw that too , tnx .
I have exoshield on my Subaru for 9 months and its done! I want to try this next!
they have a new film that is about to be released that is probably our favorite.. might be a good option
Super excited to see updates. When will you start doing video updates on the film?
Probably 6 months depending on the mileage
We just posted an update since so many have asked
9/22 stickers -- LOL - I'm glad I'm not the only one. Looks like a nice product to add to the Blackout arsenal.

@ultrafit we need your help here!

This is just one of the many issues with windshield films and one there isn't a film out there (that we know of) that checks all the boxes
@@BlackoutTinting would it make sense to clean the film such that the hydrophobic effect is reduced and hence there is enough water left on the film surface for the wiper to glide smoothly?
Give it a try, we are not the experts here 🫡

Have you guys tried the ExoShield ultra? If so, how does it compare to this?
Someone else mentioned it and we’ve reached out to them twice but haven’t heard back.
I have exoshield it's trash unfortunately. Month 9, it's done.

Not sure... will have to contact a rep
Any update on this product 2 months out? Thoughts on how it might hold up in South Florida? TY
We will do a 6 month update on it, too soon to tell much.
We just posted an update

Hiyoo, Our pattern kits have them removed or we cut around them
@@BlackoutTinting this definitely helps. Thanks a lot

Thanks!
We don't install windshield film with hydrophobic features.. sorta for that reason
We recommend a ceramic coating on top of windshield films.
@@BlackoutTinting noted. Thanks!
The Bray new super stretch windshieldskin is the best product on the market. It installs in 5 mins
With horrible distortion, and when it rains it swells up. I have it on my hellcat for testing

@@BlackoutTinting well you obviously don’t know what you are talking about
@OctaneAndAmmo come to Ft Lauderdale, ill be happy to show you how awful it is.
Do you prefer this over the Clearplex window film?
It still needs to stand the test of time, install wise, yes
Is there a product I can install in my garage before the track day and then remove after?
Not for windshield use. But for the paint body, XPEL has rolls of track wrap
Does film like this hide sand blasting on windshields? Or small scuffs?
probably make them look worse, depends on what it looks like irl
Will this hide or fill scratches or swirls in the windshield?
No
Hi,
Would you mind letting me know how the windshield film is holding up after 2 months? Would you recommend this film?
Thanks!!
We will probably do a 6 month update, too soon to tell since it isn’t a daily driver
One-year update? How has the installation fared?
Actually pretty good. No delamination, no major scratches. Quite a few track days and it's the best we have tested still! Clarity still excellent.
@@BlackoutTinting Thanks for the prompt reply. I also just found your update video. Thanks for the excellent content!
Is xpell the same as ultrafit PPF or not?
Up until this year yes, but XPEL has just come out with a windshield protection film we will be testing

I have tpu windshield protection its like ppf for windshield factory told me no heat shrink needed have you tried that film?
we have not
Have you tried / compared w flexishield DFR ?
Nope. What are your thoughts?
No I have been shopping around and came across their website. Was seeing if anyone has used it before .
so how did it hold up? im interested in this product!
We just posted an update last week!
I'm a little confused here. So I tought you installed the film and then you installed another film on top of that film?
is there tint to prevent breakin?
yes, some to deter it but but not prevent it. Basically makes it more of a pain to break and the glass holds together.
Where can I find installers for this?
contact Ultrafit
I tried clearplex and it did absolutely nothing for me! Actually my windshield cracked with a tiny rock…
We definitely can't recommend their films at this time
Lmao helps with the barnacle when its on your window just peel it off😂
One year update?
Does it stop UV light?
Windshields already block 94%, not sure if the film adds more, our windshield tint blocks 99% percent.
Where are you guys from?
Pittsburg, Miami, St. Louis
sir you need new stickers on that thing lol
We were hoping someone would notice 🤣
