    Hi from the UK🇬🇧 I really liked the first set-up, (although isn’t that Spanish Bushcraft company pretty pricey?) Great tent for two people, carrying a poncho each with Spanish tarp/tent & equipment shared between.
    The two poncho two pole set up, I liked for myself, but how do you justify carrying two ponchos on a single man hike? Nope! I guess I’ll go with a single poncho, two pole set up and bury myself in a bivvy!
    You looked awesome wearing the poncho. You totally rocked it! Thank-you for the obvious time you spend making these really informative and interesting videos.😊

      Pricey yes, but, way cheaper than if I was to order a wax / oil tarp 7' X 7' from the US. the shipping cost alone, man that's crazy expensive. So in balancing out the best price, it was this extension from Bushcraft Spain for me. Plus it was a direct build for this Lavvu setup. See how I justified me buying it. LOL. It's not a light system in any case, but for car camping and a short trek into the woods to setup, it's not so bad. Winter outing using a Pulk sled, perfect way to bring it in, stove and all. Now my Bell tent setup is a few pounds lighter but sometimes that footprint is harder to find in the woods compared to the Baker tent configuration. For me in backpacking a trail or walking 5 miles or so a single poncho or a 10' X 10' DD tarp is the better way to go for sure. My friend, thanks and please come back any time.

      Man I placed a bid of $83.00 Canadian {shipping included} on ebay on a complete set of unissued US Military pup tent haves and won, so I paid for it. Man I couldn't wait to get it! Two weeks went by and I never received the tracking number, the seller would not reply to my emails, ebay refunded my money. I kept looking and found that the same seller, ad and all was again selling the pup tent halves, but this time for $150 USD LOL Long story short I'm still looking. I'm subbed to Endurance Room as well, good channel.

      Well thank you very much Steve. Versatility, so true! Yes a lot of people were asking me to show them how to set one up. So I figured I'd show them how the ponchos can be used as shelters. The size two that I was wearing at the end I also use as an awning over my un-modded Lavvu setup, peek to peek and tied. Then you can use trekking poles or two branches to hold everything in place. That's a cool setup as well. Thanks for dropping by Steve.

    That is pretty neat. I like multi-use items like this. I typically carry a standard poncho and use it to set up a plowpoint shelter. I might have to add a Polish Lavvu to my Christmas list of goodies. For simplicity, I'd probably just carry one and set up TeePee. Thanks for putting this together and sharing.

      Thanks for dropping by Kat. I do like my fully modded Lavvu with the zipper and skirt, but, that awning does look so cool. Once you use a bipod or tripod system in place of the center pole, that alone makes a big difference in floor space giving you tons of room.

    I watch dozens of channels, and this presentation is the best. Thank you for that. If you make a follow-up to this video, can you place something in the tents (sleeping bag/mat) for frame of reference? It's clear the Size 3's are massive, but I'm curious how many people each of these tents can hold -- especially when a stove is used while hot tenting.

    Do you think it's possible to make the bell tent setup with a single pole and some cord stretching at an angle to replace the tripod?

    • @danielcharbonneau222
      @danielcharbonneau222  5 місяців тому +1

      Thank you very much. The original Lavvu setup comes with a center pole, but takes up to much floor space that's why I use a exterior tripod. You can also use an interior tripod which works great. You can find two trees that are about six or so feet apart that both have a fork at the same level and if so you can use a strong enough pole and wedge it between both trees and tie it off than tie off your Lavvu in the middle, using a small stone inside at the peak. {remember the wind} If you don't want any poles you can use a ridgeline {your choice of cordage} from one tree to another about six feet high than place a small stone inside your setup at the peak and tie that off to the ridgeline. This is a very good setup as well. If you find a spot where there is a large tree with a good size branch that is at an angle horizontal to the grown at about six feet or more you can also use the same method with a small stone and tie it off to that branch which is another good setup. {remember heavy wind can be a problem using this method, you need a big tree} There are so many ways to set up your system. you just have to give it a go and see how well it holds up and which setup works for you. Thanks for dropping by and leaving your comment. Take care.

    Carbon dioxide is CO2. Carbon monoxide is CO. 1 vs 2 molecules of oxygen. Both will kill you. Monoxide is much more dangerous though. Thanks for making this video. I have the Lavu's already and I have been wanting a baker tent. This thing from Bushcraft Spain will get me there. Close enough anyway. Cheers.

      Yeah at 24:29 I did say Carbon monoxide but followed up by saying CO2, I tried to cover both in one breath LOL I do like the versatility that you have with these ponchos. Bushcraft Spain did an excellent job in matching their addition to the buttons and material used in the making of the Polish Lavvus, they did a great job! Nothing wrong using a Truckers Hitch, I use them on my Ridge Lines. As for my guy-lines I've always used the Taut-line Hitch, I've been using that knot since the early 70s, it's just memory I guess. I just find it an easier knot to loosen and tighten when needed.

      Scott I do like these Polish ponchos because of what you can do with them. I've bought all mine over three years ago. The seller was asking for $90 US per pair, delivered {for one set}. I did get a cheaper price do to ordering 5 sets. Now I'm seeing them go for $200 plus per pair, not including delivery for the size three like I have. {New} What I have new and even used are extremely hard to find in a size three. Size two and size one are a little easier, but still have a heavy price tag on them now. It's becoming a big thing in Bushcraft in the UK and surrounding Countries. Everyone is willing to pay the big price, and the sellers know that. I bought mine before the craze started.

    The Baker tent configuration was used in my Scouting troop! We would face them to each other with the flaps forming a awning down the center. Good for summer, teepee style good for winter. Seems you are able to get them easily than here, US. The low profile would have gear touching the canvas. When raining, you touch canvas, water seeps thru. Where did you get the tri flange plastic ?

    • @danielcharbonneau222
      @danielcharbonneau222  2 роки тому +1

      I too like the Baker style, but, I also like the Bell tent style as well. Well all I can say is,,,,every part of me would touch the low profile setup. LOL I put the link on the Woodsrunner. I've had my original military Polish Ponchos {new} for over three years now in storage. Size three { with the three grommet holes} are extremely hard to get. Size two and size ones are still floating around, but are getting very costly as well. I believe that Military Mart in the UK were going to have a company start making reproductions of the size threes, not sure where they are with that.

    • @danielcharbonneau222
      @danielcharbonneau222  11 місяців тому

      During the making of this video I have 6 double sets of ponchos with poles, the far back one has no center pole {outer tripod} plus I have about three more canvas tents and three nylon tents {lots of poles} When ever I go to yard sales that have tents or just poles I buy them cheap, sometimes I scrap the tent and just keep all the poles. As long as you have one original pole you can make as many as you want with poles that you've gathered from other tents. {note you can have a 6 pole setup or a 4 pole setup or a 3 pole 2 pole setup} I cut my poles the exact same size as a 4 pole setup. Never turn away someones else's scrap tents!

    How long did it take to receive the extension from Bushcraft Spain? I have two medium lavvu's. One set I'm thinking of sewing them together and putting in a zipper like everyone else and sewing in a bug net. Now seeing the extension, I just might have to incorporate that into my plan. LOL I wish money did grow on trees. Yeah about the extension from Bushcraft Spain, man it didn't take long at all under two weeks, Spain to Ontario Canada. I bought it in April 2022 from their ETSY store. Now my Total cost at the time was $315 Canadian. At first I though it was a little pricey so it took me about 6 months before I ordered it which cost me about $21 more do to the waiting {C-19} if you know what I mean. www.etsy.com/ca/shop/bushcraftspain?page=1#items This is the exact site I ordered from. Being in Canada I had to pay customs that's why its a little more than what they are selling for. In this video you'll see my modified Polish Lavvu Bell Tent, I built that myself, love it! I could of built the extension as well I think but I think that Bushcraft Spain does {did} a better job at it. Even looking at it today, I think I made the right choice.
