This looks so satisfying and rewarding. This is my first yr doing them together (in grow bags). I did them separately last yr (in grow bags.
Digging potatoes is very satisfying and soothing process!!
I like a potato fork to dig and usually less damage.
Thanks
That would be helpful!!
Thank you so much from your tiktok friend Grow With Kacey! I plan on doing a similar experiment this upcoming year with multiple potato varieties. I'll totally give you a shout-out. So excited to try this and leading the way on this companionship!! Hard to find much on it.
Hey! Glad you found me over here!! Growing these 2 crops just makes sense when you have space constraints! If you try it let me know how it went. ❤️
Interesting video, I plan on planting some corn for the first time next year
Will you grow potatoes underneath? 2 for one special 😃
I feel like we researched this already. U need Corn, Squash, beans. Dont grow two starches together! lol
You don’t HAVE to plant corn squash and beans together. That is one of many options. Corn and potatoes grew great together! I add my own compost before planting the next crop to replenish nutrients. 💪
dglass2008: why not, is there something about growing two starches together?
@@M4R1N4 They wont interfere with production, the anomalies that were shown in the video were not because they were planted together. However, regenerative permaculture cannot be practiced while growing them together due to simliar nutrient requirements and attract twice the amount of pests for subsequent plantings in coming years. Since they produce a similar product, its more efficient for CROP ROTATION and PERMACULTURE to not utilize this practice shown in the video. Anytime a LEGUME is planted it replenishes the soil instead of destroying it. Thus, the THREE SISTERS permaculture practice was introduced to regenerate soil, STARCH, LEGUME, SQUASH. Corn, beans, squash.
@@dglass2008 rotational gardening is good for any type of crop. We cannot be so closed minded to think everyone has the ability to plant the “most ideal way.” Some need to see the options they have for growing food in small spaces. We are talking about the home garden here. Not a giant crop farm.
Squash is a carbohydrate
The chomp into the old corn was great.
😂😂😂 I felt so silly for letting the corn go too long! It was terrible lol
@@bloomandwiltgardens I'm sure the chickens will love it all the same.
I’m wondering if I can grow corn on top of my container potato patch? It’s a 20 gallon grow bag. Anyone think it’s possible?
If you try it be prepared to feed/fertilize those grow bags. Both potatoes and corn are heavy feeders and won’t be able to dig their roots deep to find nutrients when grown in a bag.
I think it’s a really interesting idea and would like to know how it turns out for you!
@@bloomandwiltgardens I’ll let you know!
