I’m glad your logger friend is there. It definitely takes time to learn how to use a saw. I’m a park ranger and I maintain about 20 miles of trails, you definitely want to know how to use a saw safely. Wear your chaps!
Thanks for sharing. My dad was a life long arborist who ran a tree service company but he never let me use the chainsaws when I was a kid so Im just now learning this stuff at age 34.
Thank you for your kind words. And it’s a similar experience for me. I grew up helping stack firewood, clean up storm debris, etc… and needed up marrying someone who uses a chainsaw all day, every day, but had never used a chainsaw prior to this. I wanted to be able to go out and clean up from storms, fix trees down on fences, etc… without having to wait for my husband. I have used the sawzall, but I know that’s not the best (or safest) option. I love my little chainsaw and use it often!
Very thorough! It is great to see someone a little more anxious than I was when I bought mine. I'm 64, live alone on 18 acres in Maine. Like you, there are plenty of guys around with the Big Boy chain saws, but this little chain saw is great for my needs.
To avoid any kickback whenever you cut a log or branch cut further back where it says brushless on the bar and chain don’t cut close to the end of the bar and chain because it will start kicking if you do that.
No use just bar and chain oil it doesn’t have to be a certain kind of bar and chain oil but only use bar and chain oil because it keeps the bar and chain lubricated where any other oil doesn’t keep it lubricated it’ll wear off keeping the bar and chain lubricated is the most important thing to keeping the chainsaw lasting a lot longer.
We have that chain saw! It works great! It’s got great safety as far as you need to do a few steps to turn it on. But yet it’s easy to turn on. We also have the weed hacker from dewalt.
Don’t like to sound mean but this is an example of what not to do with a chainsaw, especially if you are inexperienced. Please do not have two people playing with the saw…battery in, one person touching the chain while the other holds the handle😬. Try to avoid having your head and other body parts in line with cutting bar while sawing. Start out on small, lighter logs (properly set up even) until you are used to the feel of the saw and the chain starting to pinch . Not a good idea to use the end or tip of the bar on an undercut…easiest way to have the saw kick up into you face. Think about how to approach the job safely so you don’t have to rely on the chain break to keep you out of hospital. Your life is more important than making a video🥰
Thanks for the advice. I think you missed the part where my husband is a sawyer and cut with a chainsaw 8+ hours a day 5-6 days a week. He was showing me what to do and what not to do. It my first time ever using a chainsaw and he wanted me to know what to do/what not to do so that if he wasn’t around, I could use it. And to know what kickback felt like so I would know how to react, especially if I was cutting something off a fence, when he was at work. Thanks for watching and sharing your expertise & wisdom. I’m happy to say, 3 years after filming and posting this, I am now quite experienced and use it on a regular basis.
@@MitzaCreek Thanks for the reply and I didn’t miss that point but when watching you both handle the saw and use it, I was concerned. Experienced operators often do get away with bending the rules but my impression was that for a new saw owner watching this video they may get the wrong idea. I know from my own experience that being distracted while operating dangerous machinery can have disastrous results. As someone else pointed out ‘this is not a toy’. That small electric saw would be a relatively safe option for a new owner but one slip-up could result in a bleed out or serious injury. From a viewers perspective (and for your safety) I believe it would have been more prudent to get used the saw before making the video. It may just be my impression but you both seemed distracted because of the filming. I really liked the natural style and personality portrayed but I was concerned regarding safety. Great to hear all is going well and you are enjoying your saw. How about a follow-up vid, long term review? I’m guessing you might be too busy…looks like a beautiful property.
Remove battery before messing with the chain ! Don’t take any chances it’s not a toy!
Thanks so much. Very helpful! But my fave part is the giggling camera person! ❤😂😊
So..you got him a chainsaw for Christmas. One that you are going to use when he is not home. What a thoughtful gift.
😂 that would have been funny. But, as I said in the video, it was a gift for both of us (from someone else.)
Thanks for the vid. I was using the chain brake wrong. I thought the damn thing was broken.
Thank you for such a great video! I'm headed outside to trim those trees!

Owen! Thank you so much for teaching me!!!!

Thanks for making this. It’s good to see a good walk through and how to do it.
Glad it was helpful!
Yes, very helpful. I just started mine up today for the first time. I think I put too much oil, it started smoking a little bit.
This is my first chainsaw and your video is a big help to me - Thank you!!!!
Very good informative video for beginners to understand. You make it look easy to use.
Thank you- and it was easy to use. Definitely something I'd recommend to a fellow homesteader/farmer who hasn't used a chainsaw before.

Thank you for watching and for your kind words! Good luck! We love our little chainsaw.

good review and thanks for showing it action!
Thank you!
Don’t use anything but bar oil. Bar oil will stick better to the bar for more lubrication.
Thanks for this one
Super helpful! Thank you!!!
I do have an oil question. Can I just the same oil I put in my industrial sewing machines?
I have no clue! Sorry!

Good to know about the weed trimmer....may have to invest in it if it stops spinning as quickly as the chainsaw does.
Great "tip" about the triangular area at the tip of the blade...you may have saved someone's appendage. 🙌
How many wives do you know that would be "giddy" to get a chainsaw for Christmas? I'd say about 1 in 5000!
I'm not married anymore but me. Chainsaws, sandblasters, rototiller . Lol
Mine got a nail gun and was super excited.
Thank you. Very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
What mm file size does it use? 4.0 mm?
No clue mm, but it’s 5/32”. I know that doesn’t specifically answer your question, but you can do the calculations off of that.
Ya forgot to yell -- Timber! -- when you felled that tree young lady.
Ha ha!
This lady should get someone to give her some proper instruction.
Dang Owen, she's all like:
'Teach me how to use this chainsaw, so I won't need you to come around anymore... for anything'FBI. 🤔😯🤬

Not a good video.
