Jonathan Moffett Performs Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" (PRIVATE STUDIO FOOTAGE)!!

- I had some fun in the studio jamming out to @queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust”. It was my first time playing this song…a lot of fun! A very simple but funky groove. It has a “Billie Jean” vibe, so I added a similar “swing” and attitude to it!

Due to the similarity between the two songs, I tried to add the same “swing” on this song as I played on “Billie Jean” live with Michael Jackson......
Jonathan Sugarfoot Moffett legend
Yet the Queen song came out couple years earlier 😏
The beat's are strong.. you nailed it
And it worked perfectly! You‘re a legend Jonathan! Drummers stay in the background but they are the guys that hold the band together! For me you are the star!
From what I've seen' you have this "swing" with every song you perform. Every video I watch of you just amazes me. Thank you sir.
”Credit for the song should go to Michael Jackson in many ways. He was a fan and friend of ours and kept telling me, ‘Freddie, you need a song the cats can dance to.’ John introduced this riff to us during rehearsal that we all immediately thought of disco, which was very popular at the time. We worked it out and once it was ready, played it for Michael. I knew we had a hit as he bobbed his head up and down. ‘That's it, that's the gravy. Release it and it will top the charts,’ he said. So we did and it did.”
- Freddie Mercury
I also heard that Michael was involved with the production of the song as well. Not sure though.
I can’t explain how much I love Michael💕💖💕💖
Sefton Productions I’ve always wondered what the line “another one bites the dust” references? What was your thought when writing that portion?
Sefton Productions If you ask me, credit should go to the late great bass player Bernard Edwards for the band Chic, hands down, "Good Times"'s bass line inspired that one here... 😉
@@RogerBiwandu Michael gave the idea, but great bassist you talking about there. Very catchy tune💯
Jonathan literally listened to this song ONE time with headphones on, analyzed it like some rare human-metronome alien specie, memorized it all...and played it perfectly as you see in this video here....flawless from beginning to end. Oh...he never played this before either!
That's amazing! I listen to this song all the time and I still mess up when I try to play it.
I feel like if someone handed Jonathan a metronome, he'd say "I don't need a metronome, the metronome needs me"... And he probably wouldn't be wrong.
Wow! That's attestiment to your God given talent. Bless you!! Hope you come back to Drumeo
Best of the best that’s why Michael always had him play in his shows. You have to be the best to play for the best period!
Thats crazy, i can't belive he played it for the first time, so perfect, and clean
One word for sugarfoot. "BADASS!"
Fun fact Queen weren't going to release this song as a single, it was only going to be an album track. Guess who convinced Queen to release it as a single? None other than Michael Jackson
Is it true??
Tristan Houle yep totally true....Mike and Freddie where super tight....Dare I say had Queen not recorded Hot Spaces we might not have gotten the album Thriller in the way we did
@@jmissle they were tight until the llama incident
@Maison Rivers I didn't mention the llama incident because I don't know if that's true. Allegedly Freddie refused to continue working with Michael because Michael kept bringing his pet llama to the studio. However I've also heard that it was simply tours and performance commitments that kept them finishing their work. I know MJ had a llama but I don't think I can jump to that conclusion that that was the reason they stopped recording
I can totally see MJ dancing to AOBTD 👑
A lot of people don't realize how hard it is to be able to stay controlled, consistent, and not be tempted to "show off" or overplay. Great video!
I've noticed the Billie Jean vibe alot when listening to it as well! Thanks for all the great music!
This is what does my head in. Midi drums which are perfectly in time have no groove, no feel, are totally boring to listen to and kill the song. Sugarfoot here is PERFECTLY in time like a midi drum kit, but it STILL has feel, groove and movement in it. Don't know how you do it but it's breaking my brain.
It's a simple rhythm but, if you listen closely, he has so much consintency, precision and adds style to the song with those accents. Damn!
Such a perfect technique, that’s a drummer
Wow! You're one of the best drummers I've ever heard. Thank you for changing my childhood for the better ❤️
~Rosy, 12 years old 🇮🇹
Great drumming.....Nice to see you recovered and back jamming. God Bless. That bass line was “lifted” from Chic’s Bernard Edwards’ baseline on Good Times....Queen was rehearsing in the same studio building. I guess John Deacon “heard Good Times”. The rest is history.
His head movements tho😂😂
ryan 101 that’s how I feel time and keep time...at times. Lol 😂
@@JonathanSugarfootMoffettsignature moves by one of the GOATs!
Trivia: Queen's studio engineer and co-producer on the album The Game Mr. Reinhold Mack, introduced new recording techniques to the band for this album including the use of Roger Taylor's sampled drum loops, something Taylor opposed fiercely in the beginning. Samplers were kind of a new thing in rock in 1980. Both Another One Bites the Dust and Dragon Attack use drum loops. Another One Bites the Dust is deceptively seen as a "simple" song but to maintain the groove requires steady pulse. Queen used to play this song live at almost double the speed. Great cover Mr. Moffett.
Amazing! Love all the hi hat variations you did.
100% groove juice.. Amazing pocket!!
Nice to see you back Sugarfoot! I hope you continue your road to recovery and maintain great health so that many more beautiful years may come for your wonderful music and drumming.
Sharp work in this video! "Another One Bites The Dust" is my second-favorite song of all-time, behind only "Billie Jean." Interesting how my two favorite songs both have steady drum beats and distinctively recognizable bass lines. You kicked major afterburner!
Another great one!! Keep em coming!!
Looking like a million bucks! Great cover
Roger always claimed that this song was so hard to play. Seems that you're on point Sugarfoot!
This song is extremely easy to play.
Darth Ciliatus lol I know, that's why I said that.
