Always the experimenter looking for new ideas and sounds, Michael Mossman has combined 2 Latin styles in this unique composition. Displaying a nice melodic sense and skill in orchestration, Michael writes interesting parts for all sections, and also includes a trumpet solo and trombone soli in this great-sounding chart.

In many ways I enjoy Mossmans compositions and arrangements, and for sure it's very proffessional and playable, but many times (in this e.g.) I think he is maybe too creative for his own good. We are introduced to a theme in the beginning that really could develope into somehting, but it never settles. Expecially the 'intermezzo' in bar 39 to 45 is delightful and could be repeated in the end, but it continous with neverending new ideas and we do not hear the main theme ever again. I think he has to have in mind that this kind of music has to be written for a 'one time' audience and maybe dancers. For common listeners music is consumer goods. Give them something to humm in their head when they leave. :-) But all in all a great pice of music.
I love it 😍
