The hotel he worked at is a franchisee of Choice Hotels, he's not technically Ricardo's boss, but the franchisees always answer to corporate, including maintenance and upkeep. Those repairs needed are paid by the franchisee, not corporate.

It can be for elite athletes, but if a company is awarding a scholarship that is available for all employees nationwide it can be as little as $2,000. Most people I know that have an advanced degree have been awarded multiple scholarships and grants...and still have a ton of student debt. The CEO deliberately picked that phrasing. He didn't say, 'we are going to pay for your son's med school.' He said we are going to open up a scholarship that is available for all employees and I want your son to be the first recipient. All scholarships have requirements, maintaining a certain G.P.A, how the money is going to be issued and on what time schedule, etc. By the time they setup this nationwide scholarship open for all employees and their children, the kid is going to be done with med school. I thought the CEO was going to offer him a job where he would be doing the exact same thing, but be working for parent corporation so they could give him a raise. On the brighter side, I think it will be easier to get the golf cart for the hotel. Maybe next fiscal quarter.
