That's a sick update of the 40-year-old figure. I know nothing about the Super7 brand or its reputation but looking at it blind, it looks good to me and probably worth the price. Thanks for the video! Catch you soon somewhere.
It's refreshing to see someone not dumping on super 7. I get so tired of that because super 7 has the same issues all of the toy companies have but for whatever reason people do extra dumping on super 7
Wow. I had the OG as a kid and seeing this just hit me in the face with nostalgia. That figure is amazing. Definitely not going down the rabbit hole while seeing the shelving behind you, but living vicariously through you. Thanks for the vid.
I love Super 7! I think they do a fantastic job modernizing our favorite toys from our childhood. Excellent review. Love the excitement for this figure. He’s so dope! 🔥
I love them but man I barely have room for the very modest collection I have. Do you ever feel bad kinda just putting them away in a drawer or back in the box into storage? I'd just want to see them everyday lol
Completely understandable, buys it’s not something that bothers me. My son plays with the figures often and I enjoy sitting in the room and just posing them for a bit - I find it relaxing on stressful days.
@@SomeOfMyFavoriteThings actually NECA has had to make it completely different arrangement with Saki who owns usagi. It's not impossible but Super 7 has an agreement with playmates to redo their old TMNT toys. And yes there is a usagi in that line but they took had to go out and get permission from the creator so they can't give super 7 the rights to that one. Rights are a complicated issue sadly.
@@SomeOfMyFavoriteThingsYeah. Apparently Super7 had the Usagi contract on hand and Flynn forgot to actually sign it until it was time to make him. When they did get ready to, NECA got an exclusive contract. Panda Khan had something similar happen and now only NECA can do him. Unfortunately, there was some drama with the various licensees. Nickelodeon directly licenses TMNT to each of them but the Super7 stuff going on clearance had Playmates complaining to Nick that it was hurting their reissue sales. This led Nick to insist that Super7 try to focus more on updating the designs into something more and more unique so as not to compete with Playmates. There was back and forth and Super7 was able to do the upcoming Rat King with enough changes but Super7 wound up with like 10 unusable sculpts in a vault that Nick wouldn't approve. Nick suggested doing 2003 for the 40th anniversary since nobody else was and the original plan was that Super7 would do 2003 every other wave to buy time to do the extra work Nick wanted on modifying toy designs but that got harder and harder -- and S7 got a strong customer response to 2003. So for now, every wave is going to be 2003. Shredder, Foot Soldier, Splinter, and Casey from 2003 go up sometime before the end of the year for preorder. Super7 may work in redecos and special releases that are classic toy inspired but the waves going forward are apparently all planned as 2003, with the added articulation and focus on 2003 cartoon accuracy. There are some rumors Mondo is having an easier time updating toy figures for its vinyls and is getting into 6-7 inch figures with Ghostbusters (which is more expensive than their other planned figures for complicated reasons). So Mondo MIGHT be doing something similar to their vintage toy vinyls as 7 inch figures. Which would probably be $60-70ish and have a 4-6 month preorder window, with the kinds of changes you see on their Ray Fillet vinyl. Mondo has actually hired two of Super7's former TMNT designers and sculptors, who worked on Wingnut and other monster characters. So far it isn't clear what all they'll do but the sculptor got hired in part because he was showing off his personal pitch for updating the 90s Jim Lee TMNT figures with loads of articulation so there's speculation Mondo may be making those. (Playmates only ever even did 3 of the 4 designs in the 90s so the Jim Lee Leonardo has never had an official toy.)
I am going to say that even as someone who prefers Super7, I went ahead and bought NECA's Antrax, Groundchuck, Dirtbag, and armored Usagi and I'll be getting their Panda Khan, Tattoo, and Wyrm. Because I think those are the closest we'll get to toy versions. The black lines distracted me but they blend in after awhile and NECA is doing less and less of the black lines. NECA's wyrm is nuts because the only thing they had to base it on was brief animation in Wyrm's toy commercial. They're pretty likely to do Merdude in their Archie line and, like Panda Khan, may be doing imaginary cartoon designs for characters like Walkabout and Lionheart because they've almost run out of actual cartoon mutants to make.
Love the enthusiasm you have here, you can tell you love TMNT, and what Super 7 is doing. Good stuff! Collecting action figures is THE best. 🤜🏽🤛🏽
Dope bro im gone change my collection next year and tmnt will be added going foward!

I agree. It’s really weird.

Broooo! I’m a Super7 collector myself. I didn’t know you were into action figures. This channel just got better 😂🤙🏽
Also, I do collect Neca and Mondo. 🤓
I want to grab all the mondo stuff but it’s too expensive for me.
@@SomeOfMyFavoriteThings yeah dude, I agree. The soft vinyl TMNT stuff is sick, but at $90 a piece, that sh!t is mad crazy!

Usagi isn't owned by TMNT so they're probably won't be one of those unfortunately
NECA has been doing it without issue within its own TMNT line. Shouldn’t be an issue here either.
