Survivor got lucky because if he picked wrong, this would go down as one of the worst twists ever
very true
survivor au had a similar thing. When a person was voted out they had to pick one urn out of four which had a save scroll, if they got it wrong they get eliminated if they get it right they’re saved. The thing is when one gets it wrong the next tribal council it gets bumped down to a 1 out of 3 chance. Then a 1 out of 2, then 100% chance. This twist got so much hate it that even the host of the show made fun of it.
@@timekeeper0436 survivor au has to have a few non elimination episodes each season just to stretch out the season and make more ad revenue. they just repeat different variations of “you’re voted out but not actually out of the game”
I agree
@@timekeeper0436 at least with that the person actually got voted out socially
For anyone who needs an explanation of the Monty Hall problem, Christian gave a great explanation on Survivor Know-it-Alls. The key is that Jeff knows beforehand which box is the fire. He will _always_ reveal one of the two skulls first, regardless of whether Deshawn had chosen the fire box from the start or not. So if the fire was in either the second or third box instead of the first, Jeff would reveal the other skull box before asking Deshawn to switch. So he wins if he switches in 2/3 of scenarios and loses in 1/3.
So technically, he made the wrong choice, statistically speaking.
@@AndrewSmith-pn2qc yes, but he got lucky and good for him. Because I don’t want him to be another player that gets fucked over because of a twist
@@AndrewSmith-pn2qc yes, but he got lucky and good for him. Because I don’t want him to be another player that gets fucked over because of a twist
@@ander3689 Yeah some of those twists are total BS. Like the hour glass garbage.
Christian's explanation was distorted and messy.
The best way to explain the Monty Hall problem is by diagramming a tree, visually.
I’m so glad deshawn didn’t get out this way, it would have sucked to gone out in a game of chance
The picture quality of this video is excellent. Thanks for uploading!
Your welcome, thank you!
OH MY GOSH! HOW LUCKY HE IS!
Deshawn was soooo lucky! But I really don’t want survivor to do this twist again…
To bad about what you want
Unfortunately for those of you who hated this twist, they're bringing it back in _Survivor 42_ next week.
God the survivor producers are so brain dead Jesus Christ
It's ok, hahaha I spent hour ago browsing the latest update in survivor since it's no available in our country. Thanks for this.
Your welcome :)
Why don’t you pirate it like any savvy person would?
*Deshawn's had more than a gut feeling, Jeff subconsciously gave away the answer.* 1:19 Jeff pulled his hand from behind the "fire" box, and held it over it, while describing the safe "fire" box. 1:27 Jeff pulled his other hand from behind the "skull" boxes and was gesturing toward the 2 "skull" boxes when describing them. We know Jeff knew the contents of all 3 boxes because he knew which to open to show a skull.
Interesting I didn't notice that
Interesting I didn't notice that
Damn I wonder if Deshawn picked up on that
thats not done on purpose. deshawn went with his gut
Wow! Jeff also looks directly at the one with the fire symbol at 1:40
Deshawn got very lucky. Ideally you should always switch on a Monty Hall game. Initially Deshawn got a 1/3 chance of picking the flame. After Jeff revealed one of the skull and offered him to switch, he now have a 2/3 chance, twice as likely to pick the flame.
No he has a 1/2 chance, obviously you didn’t pass math class 😂
@@kep881 A year late but you should Google the “Monty Hall Problem” before confidently commenting “obviously you didn’t pass math class”.
Deshawn would've been so robbed if he went out this way! He's got the win in the bag.
What show are you watching? He’s not even in the running to win.. (no hate by this comment)
@@Mirarosie I would say the only person who could beat him out of everyone left is Ricard tbh
@@spenkle431 lol. this episode alone proves that he is too sensitive to play the game and he doesn't own his moves. that's gonna bite him in the finals knowing from the preview he made a deal with the final three with him, Xander and Erika. If Erika gets to the end, she wins. She was part of the Shan blindside and she was the swing vote on this one. She's not playing a flashy game but she's savvy.
@@fawli86 technically speaking she wasn’t the swing vote. Xander played his extra vote which took the power away from Erika.
@@fawli86 Even though I think that Deshawn's chances have gone down, I still think he has a good chance of winning if he is not sitting next to Ricard. From what he said this tribal Shan could actually vote for him, same with Lianna who he didn't vote out this episode. Evie likes him a lot and if Danny doesn't get to the end he is definetly voting him. Erika is playing a good game but it feels wierd that she only got her first confesional in like episode 4 or something. That seems to me like she's won't be the winner.
and in Survivor 42
the person participating goes home
Deshawn got so lucky
@Max it all comes down to Erika for deshawn. If she makes the move to get rid of ricard instead of him, that does great things for his game. I thought she was going to do it, in this vote but she chickened out
@@eldio2124 I think she didn't do it because it's a bad move right now. Because if she did, next tribal would be 3-3 instead of 4-2. The only way this could be terrible is if Ricard wins every single immunity until the end, but I think Erika made the right move for this vote. It's all about timing
I thought it was going to be some kinda game where the player had to compete, not a flip of a coin challenge idk I thought it was kinda lame tbh.
So basically it's just luck. Wow what an amazing twist🤡
It's luck that you have the power to heavily manipulate in your favor with some knowledge of game theory/probability. Funnily enough, if Xander had been in this position (he whispered about the Monty Hall problem so he almost certainly knows the statistically better move is to switch) he would have made the "correct" move and gotten booted for it.
@@YourPalJamieEllis i mean he had a decision to not play immunity
@@YourPalJamieEllis It's still luck. Yes, you can increase your chances, but you still have a 1/3 chance to go home.
@@Austinc5904 If he does that, he probably just gets voted out. He was the target before the challenge.
@@YourPalJamieEllis who's to say Xander picks the 1st box to begin with.
The Monte hall problem. Odds are better if you switch. He got lucky
That's the twist? smh...
Deshawn is officially a legend for this!!!
I dont think so, Jeff told him the right choice with his eyes..
i think what the do or die twist should be, is someone finds it and then gives it to someone else at tribal council. that would have a much greater impact
Wish they'd just let these people play effing survivor.
Omg, oh wow, omg...who gives a shit. Just sit down and vote someone out. Enough.
This gave me deal or no deal vibes lol
I wonder if he knew it was a MH problem before choosing the box (and it was edited out), or he found out only after choosing. If he knew before, he is extremely lucky as switching gives a 66% chance of survival. If he didn't know before, and thought the first choice was the only choice, then he has really good instinct and there is not point in switching despite the odds.
What do you mean "first choice was the only choice, then he has really good instinct and there is not point in switching despite the odds"? Your logic doesn't seem sound. You don't need to know that it was the monty hall problem when it started.
When did Jeff say the part that if you didn't die that you get individual immunity?
0:28
He says you are safe
if nobody ended up participating in the challenge.....wonder what jeff would have done. if only one person ended up participating in the challenge he'd win immunity ? or go directly to do or die?
If no one participated I would think EVERYONE would have to participate to determine a winner and a do or die candidate.
And if only one participated, he/she automatically wins immunity, and everyone else plays until one drops, and that's the do or die candidate.
Rigged, Probst hand justures indicating the correct box were evident...
They want to add a lot more game theory element in survivor
Just wait until they somehow implement a prisoners dilemma twist lol
@@moldymallard They already have :D
I like the twist but maybe increase the chances because it's too risky in final 7, I'll do a 50/50 rock draw
If we're getting technical, he had the power to make it a 2/3 chance in his favor by switching but that's counting on the person knowing the Monty Hall problem's solution. From there, if we make the hefty assumption that the average person has a 50/50 chance of being aware of the Monty Hall problem (a fair assumption I think given its pervasiveness in pop culture and game theory), the expected probability of escaping the Do or Die actually DOES become 50/50, just over time rather than in any one particular iteration.
And for the matter (sorry to double-comment) I'm guessing this, like the code words for idols, become much less effective as interesting game pieces once everyone knows to look out for them. This might return in 42 but probably would be retired for a while after that.
2:50 Ho...ly Shan looked PISSED that Deshawn survived
Look at ricards face, he wanted him out
Who else when watching this picked the left box and stuck with it like DeShawn did?
me
I would have picked left but also would have switched because my high school math teacher taught me Monty Hall theorem
This was so crazy!! He got so lucky!!! Absolutely Insane!! Comment your thoughts on this twist!!
really thought none of them would take the do or die option. it was a ridiculous gamble. i dno why anyone would chose it.
Wish he'd gone home here after what he did to Shan. The fact that he said she was backstabbing him when he was the one putting her on the block first is sick and snakey.
People defend him instead of Shan because he's a man, but DeShawn himself ruined the best alliance and has only himself to blame for how it turned out.
Survivor: Outwit, Outplay, Outlast, Outluck
Do or Die is basically just a Deal or No Deal game show segment. 🤦♂️
Stupid twist IMO.
it wasnt forced on anyone. the players had the option of rejecting it.
@@r.g6170 not exactly. Jeff never explained it before they made their choice to participate in the challenge. If Jeff had explained this game of chance and 33.3% chance, and they still chose to participate in the immunity challenge…then yea I’d agree with you. Otherwise it was a very stupid challenge. Jeff said there would be a challenge to decide live or die, not some dumb choosing out of 3.
@@MadDogGIO thats true. survivor shouldnt have stunts that run on luck because its called survivor anyway.
Glad he stayed. Glad she's gone.
Gave them a chance to truly represent their culture to prove a point, and they end up betraying and cannibalizing one another 🙄
And he was the one that started it too, while being petty and blaming Shan for what he did to betray her before she even knew what was happening.
WHAT ARE THE CHANCES DESHAWN GETS THE BOX WITH THE FLAME THAT IS A 33.3% TO GET IT RIGHT!!!
what kind of shit twist is this?? thank god i haven't watched this season and skipped straight to 42 LOLOL
This was the episode that I know we black people are a mess.
They had 6 strong but they did sed 4
Because nasseer and Erika are dark skinned.
I hated this twist I hope it doesn't come back
Don't worry it won't
If survivor is going to continue with racism, gender identification, cultural differences, etc., then I don't think I'll be watching anymore.
It used to be a really good game show. Now it's a cross between American ninja and Dr. Phil👎🏼
I know if there is much more of this woke bullshit I will not be watching anymore
Season 41 by far is the worst season ever.
