I went thru hell with clutch drag and I couldn't get my bike in N when stopped with engine running. I have an '83 IH. I installed a Tamer 2, Hayden M6 automatic Primary chain tensioner, and Barnett Kevlar friction discs. I run organic 20w50 in primary and motor. What a difference I literally can click in and out of gears and finding N is no prob. Totally eliminated clutch drag. Trust me IT WORKS!
Great video. I'm about to pull apart my '72 clutch to see why I'm getting erratic release. I found that using 20W50 oil helped me find neutral a lot better than whatever was in there before.
This video is both excellent and much appreciated! I just repacked the clutch on my 1975 XL1000 and am just about to disassemble the clutch release mech for a cleaning and inspection so this video served as a great primer!
I would o-ring the clutch adj plug just for good measure. Can't hurt and the oversight was corrected a few years later anyway so period correct for sure.
My lower ramp part comes out from the slot causing it to pop out ! No clutch I wonder what you mean by penn ? I dont know if my case Slot area is wear out or what .
i hope you canhelp me, i changed the gasket on the tranny and now the clutch has no tension on it, i can adjust it with that nut thats there when i take off the cover but after i ull the clutch it stays like that, like if there spring action missing, any ideas?

Thanks for the video. This was very helpful when reassembling after replacing primary chain!
Hey thanks man, last week I replaced my clutch cable, and your vid helped alot.
Yes put teflon tape back on it, just to keep it from a possible leaking problem.
Thank you for this video

Hi bro
Did you wind up pinning it or no?
I wound up staking it with a center punch. ( I lost the password for this channel a long time ago). UA-cam is no help!
What’s difference in pinning and staking it?? My clutch won’t adjust no more hopefully due to cable or ramp Assembly. Learning as I go…
This is a test
great story but rudolphtec is right, this original system sucks as you can not ajust it to work fine....
