    Handy tip mate skip fall out spray on the body if you are going to clay bar it unless it’s a white car (to take the little spotted rust residues out.
    Also stick a 5 or 6 inch polishing pad on that mate it will half your time, but again great video.
    Great job on that focus you should keep it and rent it out to film studios etc can get over 150 a day for doing so

    • @JohnnyGetsCash
      @JohnnyGetsCash  Рік тому +1

      I do use a bigger pad and beefier polisher on larger areas (see roof and bonnet).

    I've found that clay barring during snowfoam stage is a great time saver. Process - wash - fallout - snowfoam- clay bar - wash - dry - machine polish. Ideal on cars at cheaper end of market.

    Love the Mk1 Focus' styling.
    Ford were really on it then. It fitted in well with the Mk6 Fiesta and a Mk3 Mondeo.
    ST versions of each (150, 170 & 220) in that strong blue would be a great modern classic collection.

    16:10 Thats indeed the Oem right battery..
    But you can put a larger battery in it where the battery housing becomes completely useful. The OEM battery with the standard amps is good enough if you don't often use air conditioning or other electronics, but if you do, it's better to install a larger battery so that the car doesn't lose power or that the car doesn't run too low idle.

    Looks great! I wonder how many rough-looking 20 year old cars are still on the road could be made to look like this with just a couple of days of flatting, mopping and polishing? It'll probably increase its value more than it costs to have done, but heck, most people can barely be bothered to even hoover them out!
    I suggested the battery was too small. I appreciate it may be "in spec," but it's still physically too small for that battery box. From new this would have had a bigger battery and I think I mentioned the fact that on old cars you do really need to exceed minimum capacity (amp hours) and cold cranking amps, as light draws and weak earths are to be expected. This is from experience (I am a mechanic who specialises in old/classic cars) and not an old-wives tale. I regularly fit batteries for people who say "the motor factors/motorist centre said it's the right one" and 2 months later they're asking me for a jump start, a recharge or to get them a bigger battery!

    Very good transformation Johnny! It's a pleasure to watch the ugly duckling becoming a Swan :)
    Just a small tip...
    You can use magic sponge with all purpouse cleaner to get the steering wheel to the original state. (but don't rub for to long )
    To hide the burned cigarette hole you can use electric lint remover to collect the fabric from the seats and then use the collected fibres to glue it into the burned hole. It will definately look much better :)
    Other than that You've done a great job!
    Can't wait for the next project!

    Thanks for the video, was great to see a MK1 get a new lease of life. What detailing stuff did you use for the black door rubbers?
    I owned a 1999 V plated metallic green MK1 ford focus 2litre Ghia with 57k on the clock which I bought in 2007 for £1k (it was an ex ford direct car). Did about another 100k in it before I sadly had to let it go in 2014. No reliability problems during that time and was a fantastic car to drive.

    You do know you could punch a small amount of material from under. the headrest to fix those cigarette burns - way more important than accessory outlets or number plate scre covers IMO. You can also use shoe dye for the worn areas on the leather steering wheel [or. the whole thing] Keep up the good work saving cars!

    • @JohnnyGetsCash
      @JohnnyGetsCash  Рік тому

      The head rests are a different colour / design to the centres where the damage is so it’s not the at straight forward. I’m on the hunt for a suitable replacement seat however this is proving very difficult for a 20 year old car (as mentioned a few episodes back), but I’ll keep trying! Thanks for watching

    Regular oil and filter changes a must and inner rear arches and rear inner sill's need a good clean and fresh coat of underseal to keep the rust demon's away lol. Proper drivers car and spare parts still pretty easy to obtain.Had the chance about 4 yrs ago to buy a 1 owner 2000 millenium model but partner became pregnant so that purchase went out the window, which was a real shame because value must be climbing now on limited edition models for sure. It was so much fun to watch the pimping of the old Focus and it really does look almost brand new now.
    But one thing seems to be wrong, the steering wheel is on the wrong side! Hehe, just kidding 😁

    Not that it matters but power steering could of done of a top up. Also fresh screen wash is a must 😊

      The screen wash will get refreshed ahead of MOT (happening in an episode soon). Re the power steering, I hadn’t even considered that but it’s a worthy point, thank you!

    Give the steering wheel a brushing of boot polish and buff it off… it looks leather anyways so if it is it’ll sort it.

      Well, as addressed in previous episodes, I hadn’t planned to change any major components (as this is a cheapie), but now that the car has come up so well I’m now somewhat tempted to change these items for immaculate pieces and complete the puzzle properly 👍
