they could stick with a 1.8, but use one from an old golf/jetta. theyre horribly underpowered (hot models were like 110hp), 8 valves, noisy cam, but man you can run those things all day long WOT. hence all the old mk1 rabbits that just wont friggin die. and when they do, those 1.8s are flipping all over the place, and take like 3 minutes to swap.
Every time we get asked what engine to put into a Lemons car, I make the same suggestion, and I will continue to do so until someone finally sees the brilliance and does it. CADILLAC 4-6-8!
You know, if you either modify the EGR valve to work better with less pressure or just pull the cylinder deactivation fuse, the 8-6-4 is a pretty solid engine. It’s the last old-school cast-iron pushrod big block Cadillac ever made, and since it’s so low-revving and under-stressed it’ll take one hell of a beating. It’d DOMINATE!!
Of course, there is a drop-in conversion kit to put a VW Diesel engine in an Audi. Guaranteed great MPG from this all German conversion. And best of all, when the Achtung! light comes on in the dash, the other part of the car will perfectly understand the meaning 😁
honestly an ALH 1.9 would really be a great fit there. dime a dozen, easy to drop in (same pattern and clutch as the 1.8T) and only needs 3 wires to go
Well done Jay and Nick, I think this was one of the best videos yet! Keep up the good work and we'll keep racing our piles in your races! See you in Pittsburgh!
Well clearly the audi guys need to stick with a 1.8 engine, so my vote is the venerable Subaru EA-81. 73hp is more than enough for a Lemons race after all.
Subaru flat 4, EJ25, the watercooled japanese cousin of the VW aircooled Porsche designed engine. full circle. And we know Subaru engines have great LeMons reliability.
I see the Iron Duke and boat anchor Cadillac have already been suggested. How about a Chrysler 318 LA with an intact lean burn system? Or turbo Chrysler 2.2L? Hyundai "sigma" 3.5L (G6AU/G6CU) V6?
Tldr; Germans invented rotaries so do a horrible rotary swap. Okay hear me out; One of the rings in the Audi logo is for NSU. NSU made the first ever production wankel rotary powered car ; the NSU spider. So as a homage to the Gods of teutonic engineering they should use a rotary. Either as simple as possible. Such as a carbureted 12a from a first gen rx7, they should be cheapish. Either that, or they can build it to their hearts content. But they must run the over engineered stock twin turbo setup from the FD. As stock as possible.
Re. the Audi engine query, mes amis, keep it German, by stacking 2-air cooled, VW, carbureted, Type 3 power-plants under the bonnet. THAT ought generate laughter...and more than a few raised eyebrows.
audi 2.7tt v6 swap, the car gods demand blood from the knuckles of the unworthy. if you are content with being damned into the halls of mediocrity i then a saab b series turbo
The Audi guys should just go to a junkyard and get the first engine they see. Guaranteed great build.
A motor outa a tractor would be a great.

Yes! +1 for first engine they see. And record walking in so it's legit

A Vulcan V6 from a Ranger would also make a fine Audi powerplant. Or the 60-degree 2.7, for a more performance-oriented sound (of power.)
audi + slant 6 == domination
Audi guys should combine two Iron Dukes into a V8. I call it the Iron King
Put a wankel in the Audi. I've never seen one of those in a junkyard with a problem. Bulletproof and never driven hard by their owners.
Audi guys need a 2.3L Pinto engine.
7 liter cadillac motor in the audi. all emissions stuff still hooked up. perfection.
3:50, somebody get Dale a taser for his birthday. :D
Let’s see a two-stroke engine in that Audi. Something out of a snowmobile, maybe.
No, not a snowmobile. You need a real engine from a real car. A Trabant engine would be just the thing!
Detroit Diesel 4-53T
4 lawnmower engines, one for each wheel
Well clearly the audi guys need to stick with a 1.8 engine, so my vote is the venerable Subaru EA-81. 73hp is more than enough for a Lemons race after all.
If you can find it. a 2.8L V6 out of a early S-10.
2zz-ge in the Audi so they can experience zingy VVTL-i sounds right before the oil pump departs for the astral plane.
Guaranteed domination.
now THATS an engine code they wont know!
This is good.
Keep the turbo from the Audi and swap the long block with an Iron Duke. They respond well to boost, right?
yep, for at LEAST one lap
the audi guys should get the first junkyard buick V6 they find. seems it's the road to DOMINATE
They should throw in a Chrysler slant 6 out of a fifth avenue or somthin
What about a Volvo Redblock boosted to high hell in the Audi? Getting a redblock to blow up would be a badge of honor.
Already a 318ti. Nice. Now I will need to get a weirder car to prep.
Audi guys should source a Grand Vitara V6, of course!!
1:35-2:14 I'm 😂😂😂. Also, Rip Neil Bonnett.
Audi guys should a Volvo inline 5. Like the B5254T that only came in the 1999 V70XC.
Subaru flat 4, EJ25, the watercooled japanese cousin of the VW aircooled Porsche designed engine. full circle. And we know Subaru engines have great LeMons reliability.
The only valid option for a terrible Audi is a 1204cc Simca Poissy engine. Total domination.
I added to that college fund
Iron Duke. Put an iron duke in that Audi. Or better yet a slant six. That thing would never break.
The audi should get any kei truck engine, n/a 660cc and a +1 lap headstart just to get upto speed
@06:21 the Nissan "z24" engine
I see the Iron Duke and boat anchor Cadillac have already been suggested.
How about a Chrysler 318 LA with an intact lean burn system?
Or turbo Chrysler 2.2L?
Hyundai "sigma" 3.5L (G6AU/G6CU) V6?
Well, the obvious choice is the HT4100 Cadillac.
Audi guys could try an Oldsmobile Quad 4.........if they can find one.
The audi guys should swap in a T5 from a p80/p2 volvo. Would be a ripper and probably fit without too much rad support hackery.
Miata swap the Audi. The answer is always Miata
Jay's in Dubuque? IOWA?
Are VWs different in USA? In Europe vw diesels are pretty much unkillable 😂
Rotary swap the audi, I'm sure it won't cause any problems 😂😂😂
Audi guys should shoe horn in a GM 4.2l I6 out of a trailblazer (GMT360)
audi guys should get some kind of a diesel motor in there, maybe the VW 1.9tdi?
Tldr; Germans invented rotaries so do a horrible rotary swap.

7a-fe in the Audi.
You want reliable you get reliable.
The audi should put a prius engine in it. 1.8 for 1.8!
Re. the Audi engine query, mes amis, keep it German, by stacking 2-air cooled, VW, carbureted, Type 3 power-plants under the bonnet.
THAT ought generate laughter...and more than a few raised eyebrows.
Audi guys should get a early 90s v6 mustang engine
For the Audi engine? GMC big block V6.
By far, best lemons engine is the aluminum block and bore 4 cylinder from a chevy vega
Alternately a Model T or old Buick engine. No flathead v8
Audi guys should throw in an Iron Duke
a 1v71 detriot diesel.
Audi guys - get a Mazda F2 or F2T from a mx-6/626/ Ford probe.
Audi guys - inline chevy or ford 6 cylinder
Replace it with an earlier audi engine like what came in the 924...
Volkswagen TDI for the Audi?
The fancy small Audi's have 5 cylinders right? So drop a GM Atlas 5 cylinder in that thing and tear up the track!
Tanaus v4 out if a saab sonnett
2 JAY ZEE NO SHIT!
mercedes OM606! :)
Audi guys need to put a volvo t5 engine so they get littlebit of power, nice sound of a 5 sylinder and misery for the weekend
Audi guys need a 4.0 amc, Ford pinto engine, or Toyota 7mge
Must stay true to Audi 5-cyl roots and get a Volvo 2.3.
The Audi guys need to use a 3cylinder from a Subaru Justy
Corolla, Civic or Sentra Engine for that Audi
The Audi needs to put in a benchmark metric unit of performance engine
For the audi.
GM inline 5 😀 from the 1/4 ton canyon or Colorado. Think it's 3.7L or 4.2 L and so tall she gonna need a hood mod.
8:33 I bet they spell it with two Ls: “stallwart”
Audi
ford 300 with a LS split head
Atlas 5cylinder
Heck toyota uz v8
well oviusly they should grab a turbo volvo redblock.
audi guys should go diesel... but not audi diesel, do a cummins swap.
Two hamsters. Alive, or dead. Won't matter much. It's still an improvement.
Audi guys should stay German, get an Audi diesel motor of some sort. We need more diesels in lemons.
How many times do Junk Runners have to win before they get bumped to class B?
same car? or different cars each time? they COULD be doing things to the car to keep it class-C worthy
Audi should swap in a 13b, for reliability.
BL 1.8 B Series engine.
get a cadillac 4.9 FWD engine or olds diesel
J35 swap it. Cheap. Quick ,durable.
Audi swap, LS goes in everything... Or a motor you can't kill. Toyota 4age..
Audi swap?
Uncharged VW Diesel.
Bulletproof.
Put a audi mc1 innit
Get a Mercedes engine in that Audi. Bonus points for the supercharged 4.
Audi guys should get a Chevy Cruze engine.
Audi to SHO V6.

audi 2.7tt v6 swap, the car gods demand blood from the knuckles of the unworthy. if you are content with being damned into the halls of mediocrity i then a saab b series turbo
audi 1uz
How to really upset an Audi guy....BMW straight 6....
Audi guys need to increase the capacity twice and stay in the VAG family, so a VW Routan V6 3.6 swap is perfect for full domination!
Since the routan is just a rebadged Chrysler town and country, the 3.6 is just the Chrysler pentastar
@@ElPants21 but can't we just pretend for a bit that it is a VW product?
