Mutton Mania | Slow Pitch Jigging Offshore Fishing Yankee Capt
We headed out to the Gulf of Mexico for a offshore fishing / slow pitch jigging adventure on the Yankee Capt. Unfortunately red grouper and mid water snappers were shut down. That didn’t stop us from slow jigging and stacking up on some mutton snappers. In this video we celebrate Chris Doyle’s birthday and dig into a new way to rig a slow pitch jig. All in all it was a awesome trip and this is the first of a two part video and we will drop a second deep drop video a week from now.

I think it would be beneficial to your business and to us learning about spj if every time you video a fish catch you could pause the video and give the name and description of the jig being used. Like freeze frame with a description.

Definitely a good idea. I really try to not make the videos a big commercial for our products. For us it is really about the adventure and the things we learn along the way. Can’t afford a new setup. I have a Penn Fierce 2/8000 spinner with a long surf rod. Can I start off using this for slow pitch,long fall jig fishing. It’s despoiled with 20 lb braid for casting surf, the rod reel are perfectly balanced and pretty light weight.

Thanks for the post Jonny. I m heading on that same trip in November. We got the email alerting us to the closed red grouper, somewhat bummed about that but what can you do. Would like to know how many reds were caught and released and what other grouper species was caught.
