I've started hearing A Place to Bury Strangers on the radio and I thought to myself "Hey, this sounds like Skywave" a google search later I figured out why. Like the album.
Brian Geraghty's theme song from Open House! He was so fantastic in the movie Flight with Denzel Washington as the co-pilot Ken Evans! He was good in Open House too! Love Brian/Ken Evans!
I've walked out of a gig before, but I went because it was a) 10 minutes walk from my place and b) my mates had a spare ticket. I wouldn't drive a 10 hour round trip to see a band without checking them out first.
I don't know if I could sense the Depeche in this...It does have the dark, haunting vibe Joy Division withholds. This band has sooo much potential, though. They can only get better!
I just couldn't wait to see you again No, I never, ever turn off on friends Well, I thought I heard you say and I know I feel the rain But I can't give up looks until it's away Now I just can't take the way to live my life Holding dear to the last breath in my lungs I'll see you again, see you again Don't take my hand 'cause I'll take it away And I take everything just to take it away Well, if you can't give me promise and you can't give me time And as easy as you give, I can take it away Now I know the things I say, don't hold up in the rain Every touch was a kiss straight from my heart Then you take it away, take it away, away, I take it away I just couldn't wait to see you again No, I never ever turned off on friends Well, I thought I heard you say and I know I feel the rain But I can't give up looks until it's away Don't take my hand 'cause I'll take it away And I take everything just take it away I can't feel my head as it slips away My hands touch the ground but I'm not safe I just couldn't wait to see you again I just couldn't wait to see you again, see you again
@siliva1 See: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. Maybe a little pop-oriented, but the twee definitely works well with the shoegaze wall-of-sound. To be convinced in one song, see 'Young Adult Friction'.
Oh, of course. I didn't say anything about Depeche Mode being an influence. Both JD and JAMC have been used as examples. Never one without the other and I agree with the comparisons. They have that dark wave feeling that JD had, if you listen. Very sharp beats. There is no doubt that JAMC is probably their biggest influence. I'm not THAT musically inept, heh.
Don't take my hand, cause I take it away And I take everything just take it away I can't feel my head as it slips away My hands touch the ground, but I'm not safe I just couldn't wait to see you again I just couldn't wait to see you again See you again!
Not really Joy Division. The drums are programmed which i guess is like Automatic-era JAMC or New Order. That bass is totally Peter Hook/ Early-The Cure too.
buin- I dig your list of influences... but I don't agree with the negative tilt you gave them... Every band is a new version of something old. I am just glad these guys are keeping shoegaze going for the next generation...
This band is not JD or Depeche Mode. They are all Jesus and Mary Chain. Do a search on "The Jesus And The Mary Chain - You Trip Me Up" Almost identical style and JAMC were around when these guys were in diapers no doubt. Anyway, I was always a JAMC fan and these guys sound pretty good.
dude ok 1 you dont know me. the reason i dont like them is because it litteraly was like listening to random distortion, there was so much distortion that you could never tell the bass from the guitar and sometimes not even the vocals from the guitar not to mention what was played on guitar was only power chords up and down the neck and not one song they played was disernable from the next. now what i have listend to that wasnt live wasnt as bad as the live stuff but thats realy no compliment
So am I, but let others have Bieber, if it makes them happy. I personally would rather set fire to myself and run into a petrol station than listen to his music, but it's all down to personal prefernece.
This song has a pretty cool bassline. The bass in this song is so reminiscent of The Cure's 80s era.
Sounds very much like Baby Screams

Watched open house last night can't get enough of this song! Love these guys!

his voice ♥
Reminds me of Bauhaus. Very cool sound. Thanks for posting
Its always snowing somewhere brought me here !!!
The cure can't hold a candle to this band.
bass and drum machine sounds reminds New Orded
Great show, the makers of Advil thank you.
Fantastic video, come to California!
they kick ass!
yeah!!! ossom! we'll have this wonderful band next monday! like a dream made reality
GREAT, Just GREAT!!!
since i've watched it's always snowing somewhere, im just lovin it ;)
Amazing.
If you realised, your discription of APTBS would fit NIN pretty well too!!!
I love this song
I fuckin' love it. Great Shoegaze/Post-Punk/Noise rock combination.
Yesterday I was listening Depeche Mode and today you, I think is a good compliment!
Master thieves I say!
So many great influences in this band, even way back to the big bang of it all: The Velvets!
you sir are correct! ;}
Thank you :)
i feel TOTALLY let down that I didn't hear of this band sooner....
You can not only have 10 of their songs but help the band record their next album when you buy their 1 album!
saw them at the same show right infront of ollies amp, couldnt hear straight for a week
wooow i love it!!
this song was on the movie open house
(one of) the best shoegaze/psychedelic bands at this time.
defintely a must see realllllllllllly stoned. i was flipping out.
Favorite band that primarily uses drum machines for effect (tr 909)
Cool...love the sounds..... they listened to a lot of early 80s The Cure....hmmmm and some Bauhaus....
I've seen this guys live yesterday and they're fucking crazy I really like them and the singer is so cool
I agree, it's the same style, just different.
I've walked out of a gig before, but I went because it was a) 10 minutes walk from my place and b) my mates had a spare ticket.

Lol, Yeah, the bass line reminds me of a Cure song, although, I can't remember what it's called. This is some of the best stuff I've heard in a while.
@Canada2332
lots of layers of guitars, delay fuzz flanger... wall of sound, but the songs stay pretty poppy, with mostly vocals mixed very quietly.
Does anyone know if they're touring with NIN? Is that why they were included on the Lights in the sky sample?
their best song and best vid. wish it wasn't the case.
I just couldn't wait to see you again
No, I never, ever turn off on friends
Well, I thought I heard you say and I know I feel the rain
But I can't give up looks until it's away
Now I just can't take the way to live my life
Holding dear to the last breath in my lungs
I'll see you again, see you again
Don't take my hand 'cause I'll take it away
And I take everything just to take it away
Well, if you can't give me promise and you can't give me time
And as easy as you give, I can take it away
Now I know the things I say, don't hold up in the rain
Every touch was a kiss straight from my heart
Then you take it away, take it away, away, I take it away
I just couldn't wait to see you again
No, I never ever turned off on friends
Well, I thought I heard you say and I know I feel the rain
But I can't give up looks until it's away
Don't take my hand 'cause I'll take it away
And I take everything just take it away
I can't feel my head as it slips away
My hands touch the ground but I'm not safe
I just couldn't wait to see you again
I just couldn't wait to see you again, see you again

CLASSICOLLECTION
I totally agree. This is almost exactly like JAMC's "In a Hole"...
Don't take my hand, cause I take it away
And I take everything just take it away
I can't feel my head as it slips away
My hands touch the ground, but I'm not safe
I just couldn't wait to see you again
I just couldn't wait to see you again
See you again!
not really my kind of music but they have a cool, original sound. i have to give them that!
Not really Joy Division. The drums are programmed which i guess is like Automatic-era JAMC or New Order. That bass is totally Peter Hook/ Early-The Cure too.
You forgot to mention The Chameleons, The Comsat Angels and Echo and the Bunnymen.
And the Stooges. Still they're awesome. I love their music and want guitar pedals their singer made.
I can't remember who exactly, but some members of APTBS were in Skywave
How about old Cure?
you only have to see the video effect on this video that reminds of Unknown Pleasurs' cover :)
Sooo fuckin epic its so simple but also brillant
I want this song... now! where.... ? uff :(
simplementee wow :D
these guys are so in debt to my bloody valentine its not even funny
Open house : horror film brought me here
This Guitar sound ... where you can see the guitar verry near...is that "sound" somewhere else.. Ifucking love that " grive :O " ^^ 0:19

On it
The Jesus and Mary Chain - In A Hole
Wow! Uncanny.
Alfarabi B. You are right. This is clearly a rip off.
nah, more like New Order - Blue Monday
and everyone has influences
buin- I dig your list of influences... but I don't agree with the negative tilt you gave them... Every band is a new version of something old. I am just glad these guys are keeping shoegaze going for the next generation...
This band is really awesome, its a combination of joy division a the cure with influences from bauhaus and sonic youth
What is this song about? please help with at least the lyrics
I came when I heard that riff at about 20 seconds in.
this sounds like early joydivision
JAMC is the biggest influence. Joy Division, The Cure...all secondary to the Mary Chain.
Una avalancha de flanger y reverberación, Jesus and Mary Chain sigue sonando mejor
the cure-a forest
MAPS - DIE HAPPY, DIE SMILING (A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS REMIX)
shoewave
mmmmmmmmm:)
This is a Soundtrack from "Psycho house" :D
This band is not JD or Depeche Mode. They are all Jesus and Mary Chain.
Do a search on "The Jesus And The Mary Chain - You Trip Me Up" Almost identical style and JAMC were around when these guys were in diapers no doubt.
Anyway, I was always a JAMC fan and these guys sound pretty good.
Brings in mind Ladytron doesn't it?
im 16 years old and i like it we need this kind of music not justin bieber
and yes,i found it!...open house...:P
NAI NAI NAI NAI NAI NAI
definitely feels like Joy Division meets Jesus and Mary Chain
Indie 103.1 LA/OC
Nothing like Joy Division. More like My Bloody Valentine gone disco, Jesus and Marychain without the drugs.
the bass riff sounds way too resemblant to "in a hole" by the jesus and mary chain...still, shoegaze is shoegaze. good band.
@vitorsergio and I become disordered
hmmmmmmmmm don't compare to old showgaze
ohhhhh otro encadenado a jesus y maria
sounds like jesus and mary chain
Heard this on episode 1, season 6 of The L Word.
funny but mean.
they never have listened The jesus and mary chain :)
jesus and who?
dude ok 1 you dont know me. the reason i dont like them is because it litteraly was like listening to random distortion, there was so much distortion that you could never tell the bass from the guitar and sometimes not even the vocals from the guitar not to mention what was played on guitar was only power chords up and down the neck and not one song they played was disernable from the next. now what i have listend to that wasnt live wasnt as bad as the live stuff but thats realy no compliment
in a hole

These guys do the gloomy early 80s post punk in their sleep.
Bro, age has no validity when it comes to music. Music is an art form and is interpreted differently by different audiences.
@TheWacked666 but a terrible movie it was!!
