My Mom named me after this song! When I was little would always ask her to sing it.
Bernadine Mykovich me tooo ❤️ same spelling but now i just found out that the pronounciation should be silent R because here in the Philippines we pronounced it as it spells itself “Bernardine”
My parents did too but they also named me after my dad's little sister who died of pneumonia in WWII Italy. Her name was Berardina.
I was a child of about 4, 6 years old. My father between various 33 and 45 rpm vinyls, he had this, on the other side there was Love Letters In The Sand ... what beautiful pieces and what recovery of memories
I was 8 years old when I walked to town to see this movie (for 15 cents), and subsequently was inspired to go to college, fall in love, and be a good wholesome boy for the rest of my life. So many movies were like that in those days.
I, too was 8 years old and was in 3rd grade in elementary and learned to sing this song.

According to Google, the average movie ticket price was $.61 in 1957, the year Bernadine came out. I had to look because I lived on a military base as a kid. Military prices for that kind of thing were pretty cheap but the price for a movie ticket was $.35. I don't know where you could see a movie then for $.15.
@@bayanon7532 So what? A mathematical average is an average. Both movie theaters in my home town for under age of 12 was 15 cents all the time.
What a warm and wonderful voice of mr Boone
Handsome to look at too..
Wow...
Tremendously underrated.
One of those old songs that are still good to listen. His voice is excellent really and the lyrics are well pronounced, so it is easy to understand.
I remember going to see this movie with my mother, I was a very young teenager, I was totally in love with pat boon ❤ I still love his voice to this day😊😊
16 and still love them :) Didn't think i'd get nostalgic of 2020 but here we are.
My aunt took me to this movie when I was 9 years old and I fell in love with both the song and the girl. I then purchased my first ever album which was Pat Boone's Greatest Hits, with the #4 song on the album being Bernardine......still love this song, and the girl. Great post!!
My second year in medical school in 1957. I saw the movie many times. Loved the song even now as before.
My grandfather was in medical school too and he introduced me to Pat Boone
@@carlneoh5843 He was a hell raiser in those days but later got Jesus and settled down.
Pat Boone is great and this song is great too ..like these old songs there great thank you
I'm a 13 year old and i love old songs!
back when music was music...wholesome...and pure...

All generations love the music of their youth. The problem is that now pop music sucks. Without big bucks for an arranger and producer and a master computer technician to run the Auto Tune through a computer, there would be no music. A goat could fart into a microphone now and the computer would turn it into a hit.
My mom went into labor watching this movie way down south in Mississippi and named me Bernadine.
Cool-Super-😀😃😄😁😂🤣
Brings back lots of old memories
This is and was my favourite song since I was a boy!
Best college song
Thanks for the up load John. Lovely to hear a song with my name in it. Makes me feel special.
Regards Bernadine
Quelle voix et un talent qui s'affirmait !
On this day in 1957 {Oct. 3rd} Pat Boone performed "Love Letters in the Sands" on the premier of his ABC-TV program 'The Pat Boone Chevy Showroom'.
Five months earlier on May 6th it entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; and on June 10th it peaked at #1 {for 5 weeks} and spent well over a half-year on the Top 100 {34 weeks}.
The record's B-side, "Bernardine", also charted, it reached #14 and stayed on the Top 100 for almost a half-year {25 weeks}.
Both songs were featured in the movie 'Bernardine'.
Considering the impact that Pat Boone’s first movie had on general audiences in 1957, it surely warrants the wide-screen, re-mastered
treatment. That year was all about providing a wholesome alternative to Elvis and “Jailhouse Rock” with “Bernadine” and “Tammy”.
Very good.
Love this John! Thank you!!
My grandmas called Bernadine and she loves this song😍
One of his better early songs as I do like swing. He's still alive in 2020
My old school crush.
Reminds me of the years gone by.
I had a HUGE crush on Pat Boone -- saw this movie at least 5 times! :)))
Si equivale a Bernardita, fue el primer amor platónico de mi vida. Jamás me dio ni la hora, pero nunca la he olvidado. B. B. J.
Excelente
I remember I went to the cinema with the movie and the music ...oh oh oh Bernardine in Vietnam when I was 5 or 6 years old
my favourite song when I was young...
The 45 record flip side of "Love Letters In The Sand" I played both songs continually as a little kid.
PAT BOONE Great SINGER and ACTOR!!!
Música maravilhosa inesquecível única

Thanks for posting! Great song. Really enjoy all the comments from others who love it too - including Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian! Will have to see if the movie is on youtube. What a great resource! Many good vibes to all those who like this music.
Love all your channels,
i really like this song also my mam named me after this song
Watch the movie "Journey to the Center of the Earth" co starring Pat Boone, if ya'll have not seen it. He sings "my love is like a red, red rose" in a scene. His version of that song is by far the best.
Супер,я в восторге!!!!!Спасибо большое!!!!
simpático vídeo con bonita melodía, Enrique, valencia, España, 5/6/2016

Amo este estilo de musica.

Yes my name is Bernadine too. I enjoyed hearing the song as if it was for me. It came out the year I was born and my mother nearly didn't call me Bernadine because she hated the song. However my father was called Bernard and she loved the name and knew the song would eventually outdate. These days I am called Bella which I prefer. Thanks for the upload John.
Regards xxx Bernadine

Bernardine, Bernarda. nombres famosos algunos son extraviados y otros se han perdido, pero hay yo te encontre este tema para ti
מתה על השיר הזה
There was two Pat Boones in the fifties. The Pat Boone in the movies when he murdered Rock 'n' Roll songs and the Pat Boone in the records when he sang Rock 'n' Roll and Rock-A-Ballads as a true rocker 'n' roller.
Top ten hit n
Those are some old high schoolers!
Thank you. I missed that!
You're welcome, Bernadine.
The fellow in the yellow, sweater is Ronnie Burns son of George & Gracie Burns.
the movie is drear - with an inadequate Dick Sargent as leading man - and the more charismatic Pat Boone as one of the group - if it weren't for Pat singing a couple of his hits ("Love Letters in the Sand" and "Bernadine") - this film would be justly forgotten - - you've just watched 3 of the only 5-and-a-half worthwhile minutes of the movie - - the extracted scene of "Love Letters in the Sand" can be found on youtube
words and music were written by the great Johnny Mercer who grudgingly announced it would be his only excursion into rock n roll
This is totally my name

Oh, Bernardine, oh, oh, oh, Bernardine
I can tell by the dimple on your chin
you're in beautiful shape for the shape you're in
and I'm in shape for Bernadine
Oh, Bernardine, oh, oh, oh, Bernardine
when you wander into my dreams at night
your remarkable form is a pure delight
I go, go, go for Bernardine
Bernardine, Bernardine
you're a little bit like every girl I've ever seen
oh, your separate parts are not unknown
but the way you assemble them's all your own
all yours and mine, dear Bernardine (yours and mine, dear Bernardine)
Oh, Bernadine, oh, oh, oh, Bernadine
say you'll wait for me out by the rocket base
and we'll both blast off into outer space
at oh, oh, oh-oh, Bernardine
Bernardine, Bernardine
come away with me now in the rocket-propelled machine
we'll come home by the way of a drive-in spa
just a little this side of Shangri-La
and there I'll stay with Bernardine
Bernardine, Bernardine
you're a regular supersonic space ...
as the glorious moon seem in the way
we'll come home to the planet we .....
and I'll dream dreams of Bernardine.
I see.. the varsity jacket.. what are the called back then?
Sorry, I don't have the movie.
I'm sorry if I sounded grumpy. I'm an old lady, and sometimes I AM grumpy=} I wish these had edits because I sometimes see that things I wrote seem "snarky". *giggle*
I think Brigitte Bardot was Bernadine.
My name is bernie and. It acully bernadine
I thought you sounded helpful.
There is no sound in this song.
0:43 Is he pretendin' to snort coke or what?
The correct name is "Bernardine"! You've left out an "r", which most people do. It's not "Bernadine"! From IMDb: "High school students enter a fictional woman's name (Bernardine Mudd) in a contest. The contestant wins and hilarity ensues."
BERNARDINE!
The Anti-Elvis.
The days of LGBT prohibited..
amo a Pat Boone desde los seis años...moriría por conocerlo
he had all that and still became a spokesman for God Bless his heart
