The Shangri la part brought me back. You really got the true Shang experience from back in the day. Takes me back to being 10/11 years old and playing with my older American friend. He'd be the 'Max' of the group, knowing the steps, sleep deprived, and carrying 3 of us 😂
Here’s a tip for the final step of the *Die Rise Easter egg* (both sides). Because for some reason, nobody can properly explain how to do this last step in any guide I’ve ever seen… This step is also pretty fun to do, so I know you’ll wanna learn it and try it! There are 8 tiles hidden around the map. Each tile has a clue on it. The clue *always* contains a color (which is either red, green, blue, or black). The tile will also contain EITHER a Direction (which is either north, south, east, or west) or a Sequence (1, 2, 3, or 4). To solve the puzzle, you have to guess the correct order of the Directions. Some examples: it could be N, W, S, E … or W, E, N, S. When you find a tile, write down the color and direction/sequence that is on the tile. You’ll need to look up a guide to understand what direction/sequence is shown on the tile (unless you know Chinese lol). Once you find two tiles of the same color (for example “black east” and “black 3”), you will know the sequence of that location. For that example, this means East is 3rd. Find at least 6 or 7 tiles to discover 3 of the Direction’s order, and use process of elimination on the final Direction. One last example if you find 7 tiles: - black 2 - blue East - red 1 - green West - red South - blue 4 - green 3 from these alone, you’ll know that south is 1st, west is 3rd, east is 4th. By process of elimination, north is 2nd (and the missing tile was black North). So it’s SNWE Oh yeah, and the tile locations are randomized ;) Hope this helps!
I feel bad for them when you consider the fact that there are probably 3 people on earth that know any of these EEs off by heart and they were likely following a guide and catching up on the steps at the same time as you finding out lol
Completing any zombies map without a guide is near impossible without spending a ridiculous amount of time on the map. I think a good idea would be to first play with the goal to find pack a punch as on some maps you need to complete various steps to actually achieve it. Then use a guide to complete the easter egg
and not forget how many people there not need at all to find the main easter egg's steps by sharing info to each other if there not share the info about it with each other its only 10 time's harder to find then all.
Not only am I watching this content because it's really interesting to see people that have gone this long without playing zombies, but there's so much nostalgia seeing a full party together playing. It's been forever since I've played zombies with friends
The red perk bottle was actually a bad thing! I’ll give you a hint to the colors for power ups . Generally speaking, the most common is green colored which means it’s for EVERYONE. There also happen to be red power ups which do the opposite effect to what a green would do, not only that, but a zombies run to it. That perk bottle you got was actually bad because it would’ve removed a perk that you had after the zombie got the power up. There’s one more color, blue power ups. These generally are specialized for certain types and generally are given to the person who grabbed the power up, and not everyone in the server.
@@B1g_B0sssss not naturally, usually they appear from commands or even from the Turned game mode in bo2. There’s many other circumstances but it’s difficult, obviously one of those ways is with the QED.
Hey DefendTheHouse, I realise the weird background noise in the map Shangri-La you told about, is actually the sound coming from a special type of cicada's that live in some parts of Asia! I've heard them while I was in a forest somewhere in Thailand, 3 years ago. Super weird sound, amd it was also really loud the entire time. So amazing, tho, that cicada's are able to create this sound.
The music easter eggs are somewhat lore related, but when you were playing on split screen or online with friends just for the fun of it, it made for a great time.
For the EE with no guides, I think Mob of the Dead on Black Ops 2 would be a great choice! It's a separate story from the Aether timeline (until BO4) so it can be pretty easy to wrap your head around the narrative compared to other maps, most of it's quest can be easily figured out, and you can do it with just 2 people!
Ahhh that shrangri la part is part of that classic shangri la experience off being pissed by it's frustrating nature at 3 in the morning. It's just *chef's kiss*
I actually kinda like Shangri La... Also, you may have been a bit too harsh on Max. Carrying three people through the most difficult EE on zombies isn't the easiest thing to do and all while someone you've supported, and taken hours out of your day to help is constantly berating you. But maybe that's just me, I've always feared disappointing and upsetting people so I'd probably just breakdown, but then again, because of my fear of communication I'd never be in this situation anyway. I've been a solo-player for as long as I've played games.
space moon man was the og imposter PS:this series is super nostalgic, frankly getting the perspective of people who have never played these maps are very intresting, VERY appreciated ❤️
FINALLY!! Man, I watched the first two episodes back to back and I immediately fell in love with this series. Can't believe how much effort you guys are putting into this
Just finished the video, and it was fantastic as always. I love the editing and it's evident how much effort goes into it. The dubbing gag in moon was probably my favorite joke. Had me dying everytime I heard their voices lol. As for the best EE to do without a guide, Cold War is the best not because it's the easiest (which it is for the record), but because it has the most logical steps. Thusly they are the easiest easter eggs to intuit without a guide. Otherwise, watching you guys figure out Pack-a-Punch for some maps such as Mob of the Dead, Shadows of Evil, Zetsubou No Shima, and various other maps could give a similar enjoyment. These are far more feasible tasks to figure out blind, but would still take substantial effort to figure out. Also, props to checking out a few music easter eggs, I hadn't expected that but it was cool nonetheless. Anyways, awesome video and I can't wait to see you guys begin your journey into Black Ops 2!
I absolutely love this series. It’s the reason I subscribed because I thought it would be funny watching people who barely know the gamemode but are somehow doing eastereggs. Also I think you should do der eisendrache without a guide Also also the ball thing that was in tunnel 6 is called the vrill sphere which is used to help open the MPD(that big ol’ pyramid). The focusing stone is in the vrill device/golden rod(the thing you get in call of the dead) Also also also the reason why only you got the perks when the MPS opened is because richtofen(the character you were playing) switched bodies with samantha(the girl in the MPD) meaning richtofen now has control of the zombies and that your character became samantha(but not physically) After the moon Easter egg Dempsey and co. go back in time at Area 51 in the 1960s. Richthofen’s body, however, is just there not alive. Then a zombie richtofen(from later in the timeline) goes and holds his hand on the richtofen body and disappears, suddenly awakening Richthofen. If you’re wondering where Samantha is, I think her soul pissed off to some other universe to help get her to agartha
DE is a relatively easy EE but there are still steps that don’t make sense and would be hard to find (e.g. how many people would think to shoot the prongs on the teleporter with the bow with no prior hints?)
12:22 This Joe is how every Easter Egg with Randoms go. Atleast you played with some good people. In most matches they'll be an asshole to you. Great Vid. The Shangri La portion was hilarious! And the Post Production recordings were funny. I'm excited for the rest of the journey!
If there was one map to try without guides it would be Tranzit. Because just the image of you two running around blindly in the Fog having no idea what's going on would be hilarious
I think as a tip I would honestly have the whole group have the guide pulled up, you definitely shouldn't have a single person try to carry the entire team with explaining how to do every single step.
Guys, thank you so much for the series. Zombies have been quite hardcore for me for all those years before Cold War, plus i didn't really got to play the mode in co-op for that much, and lore was completely dark and unreachable for me cause I didn't even knew where to start. You are doing an amazing job, please keep on!
BO3's "The Giant" is a remake of Der Reise with BO3 mechanics and content, but the Fly Trap Easter egg is changed (same steps but the three things are in different locations) and is required for the "super easter egg," so that may have to be an exception to the "only unique maps" rule.
I’m glad you apologized for being grumpy towards them. For a while there I was like holy shit these people are paying for your bills and you are snapping at them. But I’ve been there too during long grueling zombies games
@@defendthehouse That's definitely respectable. Just because you're a youtuber doesn't mean that you don't have the ability to get miffed or irritated. Yes it isn’t the Focusing Stone, it’s something else. Also fun fact, Mule Kick was introduced on Moon but was later updated to the rest of the Black Ops maps
As a long time viewer of the channel, these Zombies vids are so good. It's like getting to vicariously re-experience the maps for the first time through y'all. Keep em coming!
Don't forget shangri-la has the introduction to SPIKE-MORES, like claymores but with spikes! Also Moon is very lore based and if you follow the storyline you appreciate moon and it's steps and setting 1000% more. One of my favorite maps of all time.
Gotta say, really appreciate all of the time that was clearly spent on this video. Very engaging and informative, I really enjoyed it. You just got a new subscriber, and I can’t wait for the next video!!! Thanks!
1:30 - 1:40 for this I would recommend mob of the dead because the main Easter egg only requires two people and is straight forward, all of the complicated bits are either side Easter eggs or more wonder weapon unlocks.
Or you could do the flytrap easter egg on The Giant on bo3 as technically it is a different Easter egg because the teddy bears are in different spots, and you do get a reward this time.
I love the music easter eggs, they go hard and it's so fun to slay zombies to them. The ones on Kino, Ascension, and Mob of the Dead are my favorites :) Btw, the lyrics are related to the story afaik.
Honestly, props to you and the Shangri-La crew for getting through the toughest part of that whole run, that being the interpersonal communication. It's certainly understandable and appreciated that you acknowledge how things were iffy at times, we've all been there.
Looking forward to Black Ops 2 next time. It's a very mixed bag in terms of maps. It has some of the best and worst maps in the series (arguably), so it'll be interesting to see what you guys think of them. Also, yeah the music from the musical easter eggs aren't for everyone, but I enjoy some of them.
@@tommymaxey2665 buried isn't too bad either and Tranzit was just too ambitious for the time. Die Rise is the only map I don't like on BO2, and that's mainly because of no PHD.
you got 2 undisputed top 5 maps, you have buried which was also great, but then you have the bad ones... nuketown and tranzit, tbh l like die rise but I understand why people hate it
@@SACKBOY123432 PHD only being in Origins and and Cell Block was a kick to the balls from Treyarch but it being in Die Rise would make it easier than it already is. A worse issue is all the waiting for elevators which makes playing it such a drag. Also the uselessness of the trample steam, which has more places where you can use it to get into glitch spots than actual places Treyarch intended us to use it for. Fix both and you have... a pretty ok map.
As someone who’s been playing zombies since 2015, this is my favourite UA-cam series atm. As much as I like watching the pros I LOVE watching people experience and fall in love with this game mode and the story. Keep up the great work lads!
These videos are so interesting to watch and i appreciate the effort put into them. Doing easter eggs without a guide is extremely difficult and tedious, not just challenging. Very few if any of the older COD easter eggs were ever figured out by just one group. Building the Mob Of The Dead plane is a great idea. If you really want to try figure a full easter egg out, i'd recommend Buried. It will still take ages. Good luck!
These long video formats are very nice. I dislike the trend of doing short 10 mins recap videos. I haven't found such entertaining series in UA-cam in a very long time. Thanks for providing us this serie !
I'll tell ya first hand the best way to turn someone off of zombies is a lobby full of screaming assholes that lose it as soon as there's a mistake, ESPECIALLY during Easter eggs. Almost dropped a friend group just because they were totally fun and normal in regular play, but turned into monsters when EE hunting. Glad everyone was able to keep their cool in Shang because I've seen it go oh so wrong so many times.
I'm enjoying the structure of you guys running with Patreon subs but I do think it would be a cool idea if you could colab with a Zombies creator who knows some easter eggs and who could guide you through step by step with some insight on how each step was discovered, maybe give a sense of how the Zombies community responded to changes, and in the case of you running a blind map, being a good resource for if you were to get stuck to point you in a direction without giving everything away. Definitely still enjoying the series as this was something I've wanted to do for a while; it'll be fun seeing some of the easter eggs that I know less about as you keep going forward.
Amazing Joe, love thew series. everything i hoped for. i stopped being able to play these games right as shangra-la came out so its awesome to see what i never got to do.
Probably der Eisendrache would be a good map to try without guides. It is a relatively easy map, also the easter egg steps are not completely impossible without guides i suppose. But still really hard!
Yeah, I don’t agree at all lol. There is absolutely no way in hell anyone would ever do that without a guide by themselves. Those were community efforts to find in the first place.
@@B1g_B0sssss I didn't need community efforts or guides to locate the 3 yellow staff parts on Origins or figure out how to use Leroy/Arthur on Buried. Der Eisendrache was overwrought for the sake of being overwrought, not because it made the game more fun or interesting.

Finally, the new chapter! I was checking this channel daily just to make sure I wouldn't miss it. I love this series. As someone who's also starting their zombie journey recently, but with a much smaller pool of games (BO3 and 4), this series of videos is fascinating. As for a map whose EE could be done without a guide, I think Shadows of Evil is doable. None of the steps are super obvious, but they're not hard to figure out and the game gives you good hints. Plus, SoE is just an amazing map with great style that would be fun to take in at your own pace.

Because for some reason, nobody can properly explain how to do this last step in any guide I’ve ever seen…
This step is also pretty fun to do, so I know you’ll wanna learn it and try it!
One last example if you find 7 tiles:
- black 2
- blue East
- red 1
- green West
- red South
- blue 4
- green 3
from these alone, you’ll know that south is 1st, west is 3rd, east is 4th. By process of elimination, north is 2nd (and the missing tile was black North). So it’s SNWE
Oh yeah, and the tile locations are randomized ;)
Hope this helps!
I never really attempted this. Mainly because I avoid Die Rise because I like having my sanity.
@@MarshallXeno the Easter egg itself is not that bad for both sides. The Maxis side can be glitchy but it’s overall pretty fun
@@masonvevo. I'm not bashing the easter egg, I'm bashing the map. I hate Die Rise with a burning passion

I wish I could save your comment for future personal use
I feel bad for them when you consider the fact that there are probably 3 people on earth that know any of these EEs off by heart and they were likely following a guide and catching up on the steps at the same time as you finding out lol

Completing any zombies map without a guide is near impossible without spending a ridiculous amount of time on the map. I think a good idea would be to first play with the goal to find pack a punch as on some maps you need to complete various steps to actually achieve it. Then use a guide to complete the easter egg
exactly my idea
and not forget how many people there not need at all to find the main easter egg's steps by sharing info to each other if there not share the info about it with each other its only 10 time's harder to find then all.

Justice for max, he was trying his best
The red perk bottle was actually a bad thing! I’ll give you a hint to the colors for power ups . Generally speaking, the most common is green colored which means it’s for EVERYONE. There also happen to be red power ups which do the opposite effect to what a green would do, not only that, but a zombies run to it. That perk bottle you got was actually bad because it would’ve removed a perk that you had after the zombie got the power up. There’s one more color, blue power ups. These generally are specialized for certain types and generally are given to the person who grabbed the power up, and not everyone in the server.
I didn't know about the red ones. Are there any other maps they appear on?

Can’t wait for this journey to continue, looking forward to black ops 2 chaps
How About Tranzit 💀
Tranzit is really simple and laid out the foundation of the coming maps with the tranzit crew
Although I can’t wait for them to experience the new things to come
@@oneshotcowboy Thats true
I’m excited for Cold War, no offense but bo2 is the most overrated game in the series especially the multiplayer
The music easter eggs are somewhat lore related, but when you were playing on split screen or online with friends just for the fun of it, it made for a great time.
That dude explained the wheel thing and the gongs fine imo
A birthday treat, thanks so much guys, this series has been excellent! Can’t wait to watch
Happy birthday!
Love the voice over stuff! Nice way to sort of improvise and make good content
Yes!
Let’s goooooooo this series is amazing. Cant believe it’s already been 4 weeks.
Love you’re explanation after map 1. Clearly stating what you want to do and what you’re not going to do, Respect! I’m here for it.

HELL YES, IM SO HAPPY THIS PART CAME OUT. GOING TO KEEP SUPPORTING THIS SERIES BECAYSE ITS EXTREMELY UNIQUE AND INTERESTING. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
being in a pissy mood trying to do the shargrila Easter egg brings back so many memories
Mob of the dead's plane Easter egg is 100% the coolest to figure out by yourselves because the game actually helps you, and they prompts!
Also I think you should do der eisendrache without a guide
Also also the ball thing that was in tunnel 6 is called the vrill sphere which is used to help open the MPD(that big ol’ pyramid). The focusing stone is in the vrill device/golden rod(the thing you get in call of the dead)
Also also also the reason why only you got the perks when the MPS opened is because richtofen(the character you were playing) switched bodies with samantha(the girl in the MPD) meaning richtofen now has control of the zombies and that your character became samantha(but not physically)
After the moon Easter egg Dempsey and co. go back in time at Area 51 in the 1960s.
The frustration in Shang is understandable but god damn I feel bad for the guys you played with, especially max
12:22 This Joe is how every Easter Egg with Randoms go. Atleast you played with some good people. In most matches they'll be an asshole to you.
Great Vid. The Shangri La portion was hilarious! And the Post Production recordings were funny.

"Oh, nice! Q.E.D.!"
"What exactly does the Q.E.D. do?"
"Yes."
Max tired and explaining is like 1000% better than me explaining something fully awake
It's really impressive how someone can actively be doing the Moon easter egg themselves yet be that oblivious to literally everything going on
BO3's "The Giant" is a remake of Der Reise with BO3 mechanics and content, but the Fly Trap Easter egg is changed (same steps but the three things are in different locations) and is required for the "super easter egg," so that may have to be an exception to the "only unique maps" rule.
I’m glad you apologized for being grumpy towards them. For a while there I was like holy shit these people are paying for your bills and you are snapping at them. But I’ve been there too during long grueling zombies games
You don't get a different version of me by paying money. I will always treat everyone equally, sometimes that's going to be my irritable grumpy side.
@@defendthehouse That's definitely respectable. Just because you're a youtuber doesn't mean that you don't have the ability to get miffed or irritated.
One of my favorite maps of all time.
omg watching y'all play shangri-la for the first time is just.... yes!
Gotta say, really appreciate all of the time that was clearly spent on this video. Very engaging and informative, I really enjoyed it. You just got a new subscriber, and I can’t wait for the next video!!! Thanks!
I now feel less bad about how bad I used to do on Shangri-La.
1:30 - 1:40 for this I would recommend mob of the dead because the main Easter egg only requires two people and is straight forward, all of the complicated bits are either side Easter eggs or more wonder weapon unlocks.
Or you could do the flytrap easter egg on The Giant on bo3 as technically it is a different Easter egg because the teddy bears are in different spots, and you do get a reward this time.
it's going to be so fun when they get to Mob of the Dead and Origins. 2 of the greatest zombies map ever made and some fantastic EE
the shangri-la slander is insane
I love the music easter eggs, they go hard and it's so fun to slay zombies to them. The ones on Kino, Ascension, and Mob of the Dead are my favorites :)
Btw, the lyrics are related to the story afaik.
Love that they are having the EXACT SAME feelings has about Shang EE 😂
Honestly, props to you and the Shangri-La crew for getting through the toughest part of that whole run, that being the interpersonal communication. It's certainly understandable and appreciated that you acknowledge how things were iffy at times, we've all been there.
Looking forward to Black Ops 2 next time. It's a very mixed bag in terms of maps. It has some of the best and worst maps in the series (arguably), so it'll be interesting to see what you guys think of them. Also, yeah the music from the musical easter eggs aren't for everyone, but I enjoy some of them.
BOII maps at the start suck ass, but Mob and Origins are legit the best maps ever made
@@tommymaxey2665 buried isn't too bad either and Tranzit was just too ambitious for the time.

Nothing was better than being the last one alive on Kino and going to turn the music on as everyone watches you try to clutch up, best memories
Let's go the series is back, can't wait for chapter 4
Thanks for providing us this serie !
that’s a hard EE to explain. definitely pretty rude to max imo, he was doing his best
Don’t blame you guys getting frustrated over Shangri-La, I remember me and the bois losing our marbles over this EE many many times.
Cant believe he be dissing the BO1 zombies music easter eggs they are bangers bro
As Freckleston said, “It’s crazy what Shang can do to a guy”
I'm enjoying the structure of you guys running with Patreon subs but I do think it would be a cool idea if you could colab with a Zombies creator who knows some easter eggs and who could guide you through step by step with some insight on how each step was discovered, maybe give a sense of how the Zombies community responded to changes, and in the case of you running a blind map, being a good resource for if you were to get stuck to point you in a direction without giving everything away. Definitely still enjoying the series as this was something I've wanted to do for a while; it'll be fun seeing some of the easter eggs that I know less about as you keep going forward.

Pfff. Yeah, real easy, if you're a Zombies or Where's Waldo fanatic.

As for a map whose EE could be done without a guide, I think Shadows of Evil is doable. None of the steps are super obvious, but they're not hard to figure out and the game gives you good hints. Plus, SoE is just an amazing map with great style that would be fun to take in at your own pace.
