Great video Dave......I hope one day to have my 1975 SE5A restored
Great video, my family had two Scimitars, an SE5 and an SE6a, both fantastic!! I was too young to drive the SE5, but as a 20 year old was occasionally allowed to borrow the SE6. My mates were always super-impressed when I gave them a lift!
A great story. My first Scimitar was purchased in 1976. It was an early SE 5. I loved it!
Excellent video, thanks. I had a 1975 SR5a back in the late 1990s. The main problem with the Scimitar is the body/paint. It cracks and bubbles and very few paint sprayers will touch fibreglass. One that did quoted £5000 for a respray.... Goodbye Scimitar.
Well done Dave!! Wonderful review. It‘s a great car despite all weakness. Love my SE5a.
Am greatly looking forward to this video.
I always liked the look of the GTE and it’s practicality .
I owned on of the last few SE4’s for quite a few years. YYX 688H . My second car , the first was a green Morris Minor URX 202G . Almost 50 years ago. Gulp .
Ask me what the registration of my current car is and I’d struggle !
Thank you for taking the time to produce this insight documentary
Nice job Dave, very informative. I'm now looking at Car and Classics to search one out!
Really interesting & informative, thanks, I suppose especially so, as I just bought a SE6a last night ;-) Really excited to pick it this weekend! Cheers JJ
A great video , interesting and informative I never owned a GTE although owned an example of its predecessor, a Scimitar GT . I don’t think YYX 688H is around anymore.
Astonishingly my Norton Commando has the same tank cap...
What an awesome tribute mate - love it
Great video, Dave.
Interesting to note that the registration number of the prototype was RRE 162G as I had a V6 Coupe which was registered RRE 800G
The world is changing to electric cars and this will be the best time to be a world leader.
Send a couple of hundred to Australia and see how it goes.
There is no motor industry in Australia so it would be easy to set up.

Enjoyed this but shame about the annoying "Hold" music!
loved the video but hated the music
I was very excited as a 20 year old when my Dad bought an SE6a automatic in beige as a company car. He was a company director and his fellow board members didn't approve of his choice as they all had mercs and jags - the scimitar was regarded as a bit racy and spivvy. In a bid to stop him they declared that any company car should be a full blown 4 seater and preferably 4 door but he persevered and had the dealer bring one to the office and all the directors managed to get in it! The car's reputation wasn't helped when shortly after Dad got it and just after arriving at work his secretary said 'your car's on fire' and he looked out of his office window to see an engine fire. Back it went to Scimitar and he had a volvo courtesy car which all the board suggested would make a far better and more sober choice - Dad hated it. However, the car was finally delivered back and we all enjoyed 2 years of happy motoring with it. Dad often lent me the car and I enjoyed the kudos of driving other skint students about in a 3litre luxury sports car. And for the time, the performance was positively blistering. I was in mourning when it came time for Dad to change the car and got an Opel Monza coupe - fast but bland after the style of the scimitar.
