My first amp that I bought with money from my first summer job was a used 1966 yba-1 . I was 15 in the summer of 1974 . Still have it and it is still my favorite as I do have other amps but this one tops them all .
I have this exact amp. This is the most desirable year. It has the best transformers that Traynor used. Mine's missing the nameplate, but then I only paid $40 for mine (Goodwill in Pasadena CA 16-17 years ago)
as a teenager in Canada we all wanted Marshalls .... meanwhile all we poor kids could afford was these ... Pete Traynor made an amazing amp ... they made a video of one ' took out the tubes and tossed it off a roof ' replaced the tubes and it was still good ... here's Pete in 1993 tossing one about 16 ft !! ua-cam.com/video/ayV9FMhoS4U/v-deo.html
So I have this amp and the tone controls seem to have little to no variation in tone. Do I need to change out the pots to 1 meg. I heard this can help but haven't done that yet. All the filter caps were replaced and a good master volume was added. What's your thoughts?
I've had a couple of these, had to sell them as they ran me out of the house, this is loud and very plexi like. you better have a strong cabinet / speakers , it will fry lesser ones.
I know right , this was leant too me for the demo it’s loud and so clean no “breakup “ it’s like constant surf guitar , me being a “Marshall” guy this defiantly needs a master volume Mod .
Yes man!! So good to see and hear you playing again bro! Love it. Sounds Great!

The first two tubes you show are capacitors

Little did we know it's basically the same circuit as the original marshall. Jtm45.
Traynors are great amps that model.is a.cross.from a 59 bassman and a jtm45.
Those first things you call tubes, before the transformers, are actually the filter caps.
I was referring to the tubes and not the caps , maybe I just pointed to the caps in error thanks for the heads up .

any db levels on volume? i don't trust amps that can't get up to 120db.
