I blame Activision for these games not being what they could. Beenox does great with fanservice--the collectibles, the suits, the references, all of that. They almost got swinging down just right in this one (racing challenges that were more, er... challenging would have been better, but I hardly ever play those sorts of things more than once anyway). Beenox can't fully develop their games because they have to pretty much shove them out after barely a year of development, due to Activision's usual game-a-year contract agreement. It's why Guitar Hero died such a sad death. Remember all of those GH games falling out of the sky? That's Activision at work. Meanwhile, the Batman Arkham games people like so much have a good two years or so to develop without being limited by a need to follow a movie plot or prevent spoilers. They got the fanservice in AND the time needed to finetune the game's fighting mechanics.
Web of shadows, Spiderman 2, and I'd go with Shattered Dimensions are the 3 of the best imo I remember my uncle bought me Spiderman 2 as a kid I played that thing nonstop

I'm a spiderman fan so i had to get this. I feel because i went into this game not expecting a AAA batman game that it made the game feel way more fun than others may feel. It's dumb fun and think if you go into this expecting the next spiderman 2 on ps2 you're going to get burnt. Hopefully one day spidey will come back with a vengeance when he's not tied down by a movie and can have a couple years to work on it.

Winston Poptart Shattered Dimensions was a great start for beenox and gave me alot of faith that these guys would be the "rocksteady" for spider-man but personally I got bored halfway through the game. I loved it presentation wise though and hoped they would take what they got right in SD and expanded it to an open world but after how terrible edge of time looked i got worried.
The copying Batman thing is a strange subject for me, because technically spiderman 2 has the dodge with a button mechanic first. I know this is a counter based, but many times he just Dodges.
