Hello Andy down under from Seattle, Washington U.S. I tripped over your video while surfing You Tube and to my amazement, you are doing exactly what I plan to do in a little less than a year from now when I retire. I have a 1978 Yamaha XS-11 Standard. I bought it new and was enjoying riding the heck out of this beast. Then life tapped me on the shoulder, I got married, a career and kids. My forlorn XS-11 had to take a back seat and has since sat covered in the corner of my garage a very, very long time. I plan on doing pretty much the same thing you're doing but hopefully not to the extent that you have. I'm actually afraid to see what's under those sheets when I pull it off. I also plan to video my restoration and possibly post it on You Tube like you did. I am going to look at every one of your Episodes and draw inspiration, ideas and knowledge from you. My hats off to what you've done. The bike looks GREAT! I can only hope my project turns out as well as yours. Keep up the good work on the bike and putting out the videos. Looking forward to viewing every one and all of your new ones. Cheers.
Glenn: so happy to hear you are going to get to ressurect your bike. I carried around a broken 79 XS750F fo 25 years before letting it go to a guy who offered to take it off my hands. I have regretted it ever since. I now have my eyes open to the internet looking for a replacement. I hope you do post your videos to UA-cam and also put your before/during/after pictures up on the Yamaha XS 1100 Classic Facebook group facebook.com/groups/45693032324/
Hi Bill, sorry for the slow response. Life has a way of occupying your time. But thanks for your message. I do still plan on restoring my bike and shoot and post videos to UA-cam. At least that's the plan but it's still about 10 months, give or take, in the future. And I will need to spend a few bucks getting my camera gear and setup 1/2 of my 2 car garage as a workshop which will also take a some change. Thanks for the link. I am not signed up for facebook yet but after I start taking pictures of the bike, I will sign myself up and post them to the facebook XS 1100 group page. I hope you do find another XS750F out there. Good luck in your search. Cheers.
Nice work, came up a treat! Was good to hear this exhaust in anger last weekend, hell, I could hear it over the sound of my exhaust while I was behind you and blessed with the sound of your four cylinder symphony when you went past :) a very tidy effort on that bracket!
+Tony Peters Hi Tony, no issues but I have learned some traps. You must be able to read my mind because I am going to do a video on what I have learned very soon, maybe this week. By the way the bike is registered as a 'special interest' vehicle. That being said I still could have gained full registration but as I don't ride it every day I would rather comply with the SI Rego requirements for 1/3rd of the cost of full rego.
+Tony Peters $600 full rego, $200 for SI. I can do 52 trips per year, that's one a week. I have to maintain a log book and I have two bikes on this type of rego. My theory is that you can have three bikes for the price of one and ride one of them for three days a week, no brainer.
Great work Andy, that bracket came out a treat.......I have a question though, have you had to tie your wife up again? she can be heard moaning through her gag in the background over the last few minutes ;)
+Roger Sirerol Hi Roger, full reveal and walk around being reserved for the XS1100 Australia National Rally on the first weekend in May, stay tuned, Andy.
Nice work Andy. The bracket not only looks good but does the job beautifully,as always.Cheers Pete.
+peter80 Thank you for your support Pete

That's a nice looking muffler and the bracket you made fits in so much better than the other one. Nice work mate.
+Volgnit Thanks mate :)
Nice job Andy, better than a bought one by 1.61 Km. Just noticed your tattoo. I must say 1965 was an exceptional year lol.
Excellent Andy nice to see things done right, bracket is definitely a lot more Presbyterian than the one supplied.

Hi love the custom bracket. Did you use those nutserts to attach it to the can?
+Sam Parry hi Sam, thanks for tuning in. Yes mate, the nutserts were to mount the bracket to the can, Andy
Nice work Andy! How did you go with Rego on the bike, is it classified as modified at all? I'm in Vic by the way. Tony.

I'm hearing you. $140 for 90 days historic reg over here, or $700 full reg!!
