I think if he sang it he most likely did record it.
I say this because I think he would likely have wanted to practice it beforehand.
He has loads of albums he recorded in the 70s, you might want to look into it.
Just my thoughts though.
I have never heard this song before. With Elvis singing it .!!!! Cudnt hear what Elvis was singing because of all the fans screaming. Oh Michelle, very short snippet of this beautiful song, with such emotive and poignant lyrics.
This was one of those impromptu moments that Elvis would spring on his band and back up singers, they always had his back though, startled at first, they soon picked up the the ryhymn and got into full swing, enriching Elvis,s soaring vocals, that for those few seconds had everyone in that audience captured, mind body and soul. It was reported at this concert, Charlie had put a request box in the entrance foyer for fan suggestions as Elvis had felt he wasn't getting the applause he expected from the audience the previous night's. He suddenly broke out singing into Turn Around as a fan had shouted turn around out loud, he didn't know if she meant for jim to turn around or she wanted to hear the song, it wasn't something he,d planned on including in any of his concerts , him and Glen were good friends and he would break out into a few lines of others songs. I remember very early on in Vegas when Ed Ames was in the audience, and he sang a few lines of When the Snow Is On the Roses, another beautiful song that would have been perfect for him had he recorded it.
The song itself has a a most haunting and plaintive melody to it, of course Elvis as only he could delivers those lines with his own unique style of lyrical interpretation that leaves no-one in any doubt as to its thought provoking meaning of the song itself. The lyrics so relateable to Elvis himself, He always wanted to love and protect everyone around him, be their guide and mentor through thick and thin, such a pity not enough ever saw his needs or his pain.
I very much enjoyed listening to Glen,s version, he too a unique artist in his own right, but even that snippet alone of Elvis,s version showed the that without a doubt had Elvis made a studio recording of his own, a no1 was right there for him.
I was just thinking this morning, had 16/8/77 never happened, after a long rest, recuperation and an overhaul of every aspect of his lifestyle and career just what could have been for Elvis. At age 42 he was still in his prime, with much much more to look forward to. Even at 86 years old he could still be making appearances on some of the biggest event stages in the world right now, age is no barrier, you only have to look at some of his c ontemporarys, still going strong, that could and should of been Elvis.
Michelle, sweetheart, its ok to cry, we cry cos we care, and we all know just how much you care not just for Elvis but for all those you hold closest to your heart. . Elvis is with his mama Michelle, he wouldn't want you to be sad,

I think your idea of doing comparisons is brilliant Michelle, it will prove that Elvis never did want to copy anyone at song he did, he always wanted his approach to a song to reflect how it felt to him.

This song is so powerful. Its hauntingly sad. It would been a massive hit for Elvis. Elvis chose his songs very carefully. He was a perfectionist. He knows what strikes at the heart strings. It makes me cry. Thank you for sharing. X

I loved Glen Campbell. I used to watch his tv show. He really played a great guitar and had many great hits. I saw one of his last performances.He really admired Elvis.

Elvis was one of the greatest. I dated a young women when was high school in 1963 that when Elvis Cameron I must as well go away. The music today just has no feeling to it.

I've been an Elvis fan as far back as I can remember and I am now in my 60s but even now new Elvis material turns up, just amazing this and to think this is only a fraction of what the great man did in his concerts recorded by people actually in the audience and the unbelievable amount that was never captured on tape and was only witnessed by the lucky people who where there.

I agree. Have been an Elvis fanatic since 1973 and Aloha from Hawaii. Have everything under the sun in regards to Elvis. This would have been a great song. It has that mid-70s Elvis feel. Would have been a great song to release around the same time as My Boy.

The Glen Campbell version is from London in March 1977. At the same show, he did a tribute to Elvis, doing both «Teddy Bear», and a beautiful version of «Loving You», praising Elvis as one of the best vocalists in the world. Campbell loved Elvis dearly, and spoke highly of him in numerous interviews.

That’s the way I feel when I hear him sing “You Don’t Know Me” from Clambake and he is so cute, my other favorite is “Just Pretend”, gosh I have so many favorites! There is someone on YT that puts together a line up like an album “Elvis-Nashville Ballads 1960-1967” new sound TSOE, I love this collection I play it all the time! It’s by “Just Good Music”Lisa Marie should hire this guy to produce CD’s they would make a fortune, he has done serval of them. Helen...the story goes something like this: ELVIS was on Stage on July 23, 1975, in Asheville, NC., at the Asheville Civic Center. The Fans behind the Center Stage seats yelled "Elvis turn around" ... because they seen most of the time his backside only...it was a short impro after all.

Just watched a clip with Glen and his wife talking about his battle with Alzheimer disease and they talked about how he could remember his good friend Elvis ! ! Beautiful song written by avery talented singer and songwriter. ! !

@@ElvisLass35 I found this Article, a review of a 1975 concert where he sing this song.
, "Ok, in this next part, we're gonna do a couple of songs. And we're gonna ask you what you want to hear". A familiar woman's voice screams out very demandingly, "Turn around!". It kinda reminds me of Elvis' comments from Memphis, March 20, 1974 when he immitated a fan screaming, "Hey come back, turn around. She's louder than I am and I've got the microphone". Elvis says, "Turn Around", half stating it, half questioning it. He then launches in to TURN AROUND LOOK AT ME. The only version I know to exist is heartfelt and well sung, albeit only approximately 30 seconds in length.
I have watched this before(and Glen campbells version) and it made me cry then and here i go again! When i saw this on youtube i looked everywhere to find Elvis singing the full song to no avail. Such a pity he never recorded it.Thankyou Michelle for playing it.xx
