I was disappointed though, the backstory hit me hard in the novel while it was eh here and Otto played a WAY BIGGER part in the subjugation of Garfiel.
Otto's story in the novel left me in tears, and his efforts in holding back Garfiel were a lot more heroic. I feel like they just can't convey that emotion in anime format, especially when they're on such a big time crunch. And is it just me, or has the animation quality suffered this season?
@@ramennnoodle the animation quality has definitely suffered, but I also think they're putting the time and budget towards Emilia's trial and I think that's where the episodes are going.
When she asked Subaru to stay with him, it was a really important moment for her I think. If he had stayed with her, she might have moved her dependence from Puk to her, she needed to realise her on strength, and I think Subaru recognised that it would be more of a betrayal to deny her that, must have killed him to do it though.

Emilia definitely had some conflicted feelings about Subaru. She probably had feelings for him but was too afraid to commit to these feelings because she feared he'd reject her like everyone always does (like the guy in the village, who ended up being actually afraid of her) and it didn't help Subaru kept breaking promises. But her fears were erased and her frozen heart was melted away when Subaru loved her despite her flaws >_

When he sees Subaru all suffering and shouldering everything, he sees himself as a little kid, and then finding how Ram sees Subaru ( a Man with good timing, that when he sees an opportunity he seize it). What animeonly missed was a small conversation between Satella and Subaru, were Satella basically tells Subaru that he was the one who saved her from darkness who kissed when she was alone and because of all of these reasons she loved him. These words are basically what Subaru is doing for Emilia in this episode. Which further enhance the theory that Satella is indeed Emilia.
Something hilarious left out of the anime: Otto's first love was the White cat. He hears every animal speak like a person, so he fell in love with her. But then he got dumped because she left with the Chad Black Cat.

Otto best boy. But on a different note, for everyone wondering, this is the most that happens between Emilia and Subaru so far, even in the Novel. Emilia still is naive, and doesn’t exactly understand Subaru’s love yet(although there’s been the slightest of hints) Plus SPOILERS, arc 6 is all about undoing the actions of the sin archbishops of gluttony, and Subaru’s primary goal for the arc is to wake up Rem. This is coming from a person who likes Emilia and Rem, so for those of you who think the war is over, It’s not.
But we could atleast state that the interaction between them in arc 6 clearly states her fondness for him has increased considerably after arc 5 and even more after losing his [m*******] and after regaining them in their reunion.

it doesn't help Emillia that this isn't the first time Subaru has broken a promise to her. Otto's power is interesting but I don't think they handled it the best way. Didn't like that they made him more or less magicalaggy grow in his understanding instead of having to train through it. Being a merchant is also a surprising line of work given this backstory, It does seem a bit out of nowhere but maybe i just missed some hints.
